I have been taking Atenolol 25mg./day for 5 1/2 months for high blood
pressure. I am a 63 year old female. The side effects for me are
tingling in my fingers, which is especially annoying at night, and
muscle pain in my legs. I did not associate either of these effects
with the drug until I researched it on the internet and learned that
they might be associated with atenolol. I have since reduced the
dose in half and am experiencing less tingling and muscle pain
Jessmrng2015 - you should consult with your doctor before changing your dosage. Stopping an Atenolol containing medication or changing it in any abrupt can cause irregular heart beat and even a heart attack.
Abbysgram - I actually reduced the dose as a result of consulting with my doctor.
I monitor my blood pressure and heart rate at home.Since reducing
the dose of Atenolol, my blood pressure has remained low/normal
and heart rate avg. about 60 bpm.
