I have had 3 UTIs in the last three months. it's june-2012 now and i got the first one in mid december. The doctor said it was most likely caused by a combination of sex and lack of water. She prescribed me ciprofloxicin for seven day, twice daily. this was my first UTI since i was 10 (which i got all the time then as well). I didn't think to go to the doctor. I figured it would just go away with plenty of water and maybe some cranberry pills but 3 days later, i was almost immobile and peeing blood. so anyways, she prescribed me with cipro and it went away very fast but only when i figured out how to hold down my vomit. then, in march, i got another one, and not wanting to relive the horror of my last one, i went to the doctor immediately. he prescribed me cipro and within 24 hours, it didn't hurt to pee anymore. then, may comes along and i get yet another! Due to memorial day and family gatherings, i put off going to the doctor for 4 days... i was prescribed cipro again and the results were normal. I did have some minor side effects but nothing major. the doctors "grew" my urine and on the seventh day of cipro, called me and said she had to change my antibiotoc to bactrim due to what bacteria grew. this time, the pills were HUGE (i thought cipro was big) and i was prescribed one pill twice daily for ten days... i didn't think much of the side effects. i blamed them on stress until i was taking a shower with my boyfriend two days in and he had to catch me before i fell and hit my head. I became extremely light headed and sick. my head was pounding and my throat tightened up so much that i almost couldn't breathe. it was over in a few minutes but was hell. that night, my neck began to kill me. it was like it needed popped and was way overworked but moving it was very painful. nothing seemed to make it go away at all. we tried ice, heating pads, rest, etc... it was only in my right side. then finally a day later it eased up but sure enough, a few hours later, i was crying for the neck pain i had before. now my neck felt like somone was ripping me open from my right ear to my fingertips and ripping out my nerves. It's been a few hours now and i'm contemplating calling my doctor to see if i need to stop taking this. I want Cipro back!
