I have been with my significant other for almost 7 years. We have 2 childrent together, 3 and 1. His mother died almost 2 years ago. From this time, he has drank everyday! Sometimes its 1 beer, others it 3-4 beers a day. No liquor unless we go out, and even then he doesnt get beligerent drunk. I do not like this lifestyle and certainly do not want my children seeing this every day. Is this considered a problem? He defends himself by saying that he isnt drinking a 6 pack every night. He drank before this as did I but I, being a mother now, only have a glass of wine here and there, rarely, and very rarely do we get a chance to go out with friends. Alcoholism does run in his family..hence.. my concern.

My partner insists that he's not drunk & he's just very tired. He has slured speech, incoherent, unsteady on his feet & drops off to sleep in the blink of an eye. Could it be something other that drink related? or is he just pretending to himself he's ok?

Heavy drinking can increase the risk of certain cancers. It can cause damage to the liver , brain and other organs. It can cause birth defects . It increases the risk of death from car crashes and other injuries as well as the risk of homicide and suicide.
