Hi all, I went to my dr and she would not take it out! Today I suffered another headache with numbness on my head again. I'm thinking of going to the emergency room as my doc practically argued with me saying my symptoms wasn't the mirena! Ahhh I'm also scared I'll bleed heavy after it being removed, did anyone bleed heavy? If so how long?

Hi I have been taking prenisone for 3 years to treat C.O.P.D, My Doctor is now trying to wean me off the drug as it is now causing my skin to tear like tissue paper ,it also causes me to bruise very easily, Also my skin has become very dry I have been taking 30mg a day and find that when i start to taper the dose im fine until i reach 18mg and then i have to have the dose upped yet again. I am getting to the point where i just feel like giving up. So here we go again on yet another taper down program 30mg for 10 days lets hope this time i can get below 18mgs

I have used the Nuvaring for a few years now and recently went in to the clinic to get my refill. I have been having migraines and aura (lights in my vision) since I started using Nuvaring and they have been getting progressively worse and more frequent. I just happened to take a paper from the clinic to read about possible side effects of the Nuvaring. I really had no idea that my headaches and aura were probably being caused by my birth control... but it says that you should stop taking it immediately if you have these symptoms. I checked online and found that if you have these symptoms it can mean that you are at risk for a stroke!!! I immediately took the Nuvaring out and am going to switch to using a diaphragm or something else b/c I don't want to risk my health! I read that it is an increase in estrogen which can cause increase your chances of stroke and therefore I am no longer going to use any oral contraceptive!! I hope this information gets to other people and that people read up on the meds you use/take!! Best of luck.

Hi, my mother's been on toprol and then changed over to metoprolol xl 50 mg after she had a stroke. She also has rheumatic heart disease. Her primary doctor had mentioned that this drug will help keep her blood pressure low and is an extra protection for my mother against another stroke. My mother never had a history or a case of high blood pressure . This medicine sounds like it should be prescribed only to those who has a bad case of high blood pressure or palpitations. From reading everyone's post on here, it sounds like my mother has some of those side effects as well. My dad is telling me she has weird dreams all the time where she wakes up and scream. She has anxiety and always tells me she is scared of me when I stare at her. Shes in bed all day, seems like she has a major case of fatigue. Sounds like it could very well be the side effect of this drug. I will be consulting her primary to lower her dose to 25mg and monitor changes and if they seem positive, maybe we should discontinue this drug all in all.

I had Mirena inserted back in October of 2009 and at first I thought it was the best birth control ever. I still had spotting occassionally, some lasting up to 10-12 days. Thank god it was very light because I cant stand walking around wearing tampons and pads. Anyway, maybe about 2 months ago my periods stopped but, I started getting these really bad headaches that lead to dizziness and nausea. It was something I would not wish on an enemy. Dealing with the pain was not easy but, after a while I got very tired of the constant headaches, dizziness, nausea, stomach cramps, and even depression. It was the worst!!!! I recommend if anyone is experiencing what I am feeling, to go get checked by their physician cause something could be wrong.
