my 26-year-old daughter had been on loestrin for 4 months. she gained 40 lbs, had panic attacks, severe insomnia, almost constant cramps, bleeding and migraines. her bood tests were abnormal, as they showed liver damage and infections which she didn't have, and her blood pressure went from 110/70 to 140/100. it was a near-stroke that sent her to the doctor for cardiac evaluations, and he told her to stop taking the loestrin. historically she has been sensitive to all bc.

It can be a combination of pills taken that contribute to hair loss. If you are on the birth control pill, stop taking it, read the fine print on everything, it states, "Loss of scalp hair." as a side effect. The generic for Wellbutrin, Buproprion (round orange tablet with BU 75) scored, and Ativan is what caused my drastic hair loss. I was seeing globs of hair fall in shower catcher but didn't think to contribute the hair loss to Wellbutrin/Ativan/BC. 2 years too late. I am now trying to rescue what hair I have left. I am taking Ultra Hair by Ultra Plus, biosil, B Complex vitamins, Evening Primorse Oil, ground up Flaxseeds.

These posts go back all the way to 2003. Everyone has complained about side effects, most of which I have experienced myself. Please . . . if someone . . . anyone has lasted all the way to 2010, and has improved or maybe is side effect free, finally, please post that so the rest of us can either be encouraged of resign ourselves to the fact that we're not going to get better. Thanks.

I am a 24 yo who started 60 mg of prednisone daily about 7 weeks ago for lupus. I had the mood swings with this crazy twitchy feeling for the first two weeks or so, along with the night sweats and having to get up to go to the bathroom around 5 times a night. Then came the really fast heart rate that will not slow down. So not only do I have to take the prednisone, I now have to take a medication to slow my heart rate. I finally got the big face around 2 weeks ago and it feels like it is going to explode! I still have the insomnia but strangely enough I have lost a few pounds even with all the swelling in my ankles, face, neck, and back. I don't have the pain in my joints but I think that is because my knees were already swollen and the prednisone took it down. But reading about everything else has gone though does help :)
