I am curious.... My 9 year-old son, weight 85 lbs was just prescribed 30mg for 3 days. He was diagnosed with asthma when he was younger. He doesn't use an inhaler and we rarely use the nebulizer as he doesn't exhibit many symptoms. However, this winter has been hard on him. He has had croup for the third time in 5 months. He seems lethargic at this point- he took his first dose about 2 hours ago. He has two days to go. Not sure what my specific question is, but my good friend several years ago had taken pred and had terrible side effects. Perhaps it is this... Will this affect him short/long term? I am leary to let him take it, but if I don't my husband will think I"m "bucking the system again" and that "doctors ALWAYS know best." help?

I loved using the Nuvaring, never had any problems when I started it, and have been on for about three years. Im going to be 30 in a couple of months, and my doctor whom ive had for the last 20 years will not perscribe the NR for me any more, due to some other health problems, I was bummed, i hate condoms! So last week was my period and this Monday was my first day off of the ring. Im getting all of the symptoms that im reading here, the stomach pains, severe headaches, and im not one to get headaches very often, and Im very very tired! Has anyone else had these symptoms when going off of the ring as opposed to starting it?

I got my Mirena in January 2008. My baby was 1 1/2 and I'd recently had a medical termination for an unviable pregnancy in October 2007. I was also single and pregnancy was the last thing I wanted. My health insurance covered Mirena and I did my research. I read all the posts about the bad side effects but decided I could give it a try. I LOVED MY MIRENA! I never had periods or mood problems. Maybe I was one of the lucky few. I got it removed 2 days ago and this morning I have a semblance of a period, which excites me because I want my normal cycle to come quickly because I am married again and we want a baby. Last summer I went to the doctor because I had weight gain and I read on the internet that people had that problem with Mirena so I was intent to have it removed. My doctor told me that because the hormones are centralized in the uterus and not through the bloodstream, weight gain is rare. So we did some blood work and found I was I was insulin resistant and I lost 30 lbs by changing my diet. I'm so glad I didn't remove my Mirena then. I'm so sorry a lot of people haven't had success with Mirena, but if you are thinking of getting Mirena, remember there are a lot more women who have had great luck with it. The people who post are usually the ones with problems. The rest of us have become "one" with Mirena and never think about it because it has improved our lives (no periods, no worries of pregnancy). If you are thinking of Mirena, every woman is different. Don't rule it out based on what other women have experienced. It could be right for you. If it isn't you can get it removed.

My family doctor prescribed Alesse, which is what I've been using for years. But the pharmacist gave me Aviane. I didn't think anything of it when I got the new packs. I thought they were just a change in packaging and maybe a new company bought it out (the name change) because the fonts were the same. I had no idea it was a generic and what sort of side effects could come from it, because it has the same dosage of estrogen and other meds in it. I only made it through a half pack and I felt intensely angry for no reason. To the point where it felt uncontrollable and I wanted to break things and hit people. I became very negative and couldn't dig myself out of that mentally. I'm usually a very positive, loving person. But I've been finding myself extremely angry for no reason and taking it out on my boyfriend. I've also had very violent nightmares lately, causing me to wake up, feeling more anger and unrest. I'm pissed that the pharmacist didn't tell me these were generics before he gave them to me. I have switched back to the Alesse two days ago, but I'm still feeling the anger side effects. Any idea how long before you feel back to normal? And with work, I can usually handle stress really well. But lately, since I've taken these pills, I feel like everything is overwhelming and I can't handle it. It really sucks.

I was told to take my Simvastatin in the evening, twenty-minutes after I take it I pass out in a deep sleep. And if I'm lying on the couch, my daughter will wake me up and I wake up so hungry almost in a sleep-walking state ... I go to the fridge and start eating. I know it sounds crazy, but I've been taking this for a month and it happens every night. I don't eat things before I go to bed, I started taking it the minute before I go to bed. And I haven't had any problems about the eating, but I have always felt I have never been able to think straight and have been an air-head since I have been on it. What are you going to do when the doctors tell you it's so good for you?
