I feel so happy to have found this website and find out how common this reaction is and understand waht was happening to me. I started Bacrim on 3/11 after not recieiving relief after being prescribed a zpzck foran upper respiratory infection. I was feelling better by the 3/15 but not 100%. Later that day, I had a fever of 103.5 chills,sweats, and violent, coughing leading to vomitting. I couldn't eat much that day.I told my husband that "I was on my deathbed". I went to the urgent care and they gave me cough syrup with phenergan for cough and stomach and a nasal inhaler. They said to keep taking the Bactrim and see my regular doctor asap. They gave me the next day off and I stayed about the same. I couldn't sleep that night and by the next day 3/17 went to work with a very dry mouth and a foggy head. I constantly sipped on water and couldn't keep anything else down. I had a fever again. I went home and slept but was very hot on my head and chest which later broke out into a rash. First my chest, then stomach, and arms, then face. I went back to the urgent care they gave me an IV steroids the rash, meds for my stomach,pain medicine for the genealized achiness I felt. I also recived a breathing treatment (asthmatic/coughing). That doc would not confirm the allergy and sent me home with scripts for a different antibiotic, tessolin pearls for my coughing,a pill for itching rash. and steroids. She told me to use my inhaler 4x a day. She wanted me to see mt family doc and allergist right away. The next morning 3/18 The rash was all over my face and back.I saw the family doc who agreed with everything but the antibiotic order but wanted the allergist (also an ENT doc) to look at everything. The allergy doc disagreed with everything but the inhaler use. She upped the steroids, gave me pill for hives, and found I had thrush on my tongue and treated with dilfucan.The rash is now on my legs. The rash starts out spotty and splotchy and then turns into a sunburn look. It is not as hot and itchy today 3/20 but still ugly but have lots of energy and an occasional dry cough. My appetite is slowly coming back.

I been on nuva ring for 5 months it was good in the beginning it was sorta easy but I no longer like havn sex at all I thought it was becuz of havn a baby but I would jus did not hav the drive anymore so I took my ring out feb 28 my period began as normal and ended march 7th so then march 14th I began to see spoting then it got real heavy I was having another period I was scared that never happen to me before I thought it'll go away after 5 days but it didn't so I went to the hospital they said everything was ok but when I got home I start sleeping so much so I got fed up and took the ring out today march 19 I wasn't pose to take it out until next Sunday the 28th so my normal period would start but I ve given up on the nv sad to say I can't take 3 periods in one month that's a bit much

Oh and I had a yeast infection (which I hadn't had for years) that just wouldn't go away. Soooo many canesten tubes. Ick!!!! Now I read that it was the mirena as well. Doh!!!!! I have also been worried about infection coz everything down there didn't seem quite right, so I guess I'll find out...

I finally decided to google mirena and loss of sex drive and I've opened up tons of forums with it being the number one complaint. Looks like there isn't much good to say about the mirena. I've had mine in for about a year now. Thought it was crap at first as didn't stop spotting for 4 months and had the WORSE acne attack ever. I was just hoping it would wear off when the hormones settled down. The acne has slowely got better but still worse than without the mirena. When my periods stopped I thought it was pretty cool. But the complete loss of sex drive seems to be getting worse. My hubby and I just took off to Thailand without our 3 and 1yr old for our honeymoon and it could have been so much better. I am going to book myself in to get this THING removed asap!!!!! I also noticed pain during sex and my husband said he can feel the strings touching the end of his doodle. hee hee. I hope I am experiencing lethargy and depression coz that will be a bonus if I feel better after I get it out. I just put that down to being a mum.

my 26-year-old daughter had been on loestrin for 4 months. she gained 40 lbs, had panic attacks, severe insomnia, almost constant cramps, bleeding and migraines. her bood tests were abnormal, as they showed liver damage and infections which she didn't have, and her blood pressure went from 110/70 to 140/100. it was a near-stroke that sent her to the doctor for cardiac evaluations, and he told her to stop taking the loestrin. historically she has been sensitive to all bc.
