Hi...I'm 18 years old and I got Mirena this month on March the 10....I know its not long that i have had Mirena like you all but they placed it in on the day my period was suppose to go off....so i was still on when they did it. After leaving the doctor and getting into my car...i immediately begin to fill my hands tremble and feel light headed....i read through the pamphlet they give you about all the side affects over and over. I read nothing about my side effects so i tried to forget it....then later that night my i start to feel pain in my abdomen...does that suppose to happen? Then i start bleeding more....the blood reminded me of that blood odor blood i had after i gave birth to my son....does my blood suppose to have an odor? it never has before. I'm still bleeding till this day with the same aching severe pain and smelly blood Oder. I did have chlamydia...they tested me February and gave me pills for a cure then i went back that same day i got the mirena to do a retest to see if the chlamydia is gone or whatever....what my doctor told me was that...."it isn't a good idea to get the Mirena since we have not got your results back yet but we're going to do it anyway. But you can't get chlamydia or gonorrhea or it'll go right up the strings and do great damage and you could get PID and might don't be able to have anymore kids." how scary is that. I'll just wait till my next appointment to see my result and then my appointment to check my mirena...then I'll decide what to do. And is it okay for me to douche while i have the Mireena????

Hi Im just follow-up on my post of 2 weeks ago. I was just wondering if what I am going thru right now is normal after having the Mirena removed. I had my Mirena removed 4 weeks ago (2/19/10) I just got my first period on 3/12/10 since the removal It started out normal accept for a few large clots (gross) and racing hormones and heart palps after 4 days it all seemed to be stopping but then I was getting cramps and a lower backache and I started bleeding again nothing major and no clots its like having a period while still on the Mirena and this has been going on for 4 days is this normal for your first period after removal ?? I hope it stops soon any advice Id appreciate it.

I am curious.... My 9 year-old son, weight 85 lbs was just prescribed 30mg for 3 days. He was diagnosed with asthma when he was younger. He doesn't use an inhaler and we rarely use the nebulizer as he doesn't exhibit many symptoms. However, this winter has been hard on him. He has had croup for the third time in 5 months. He seems lethargic at this point- he took his first dose about 2 hours ago. He has two days to go. Not sure what my specific question is, but my good friend several years ago had taken pred and had terrible side effects. Perhaps it is this... Will this affect him short/long term? I am leary to let him take it, but if I don't my husband will think I"m "bucking the system again" and that "doctors ALWAYS know best." help?

I loved using the Nuvaring, never had any problems when I started it, and have been on for about three years. Im going to be 30 in a couple of months, and my doctor whom ive had for the last 20 years will not perscribe the NR for me any more, due to some other health problems, I was bummed, i hate condoms! So last week was my period and this Monday was my first day off of the ring. Im getting all of the symptoms that im reading here, the stomach pains, severe headaches, and im not one to get headaches very often, and Im very very tired! Has anyone else had these symptoms when going off of the ring as opposed to starting it?

I got my Mirena in January 2008. My baby was 1 1/2 and I'd recently had a medical termination for an unviable pregnancy in October 2007. I was also single and pregnancy was the last thing I wanted. My health insurance covered Mirena and I did my research. I read all the posts about the bad side effects but decided I could give it a try. I LOVED MY MIRENA! I never had periods or mood problems. Maybe I was one of the lucky few. I got it removed 2 days ago and this morning I have a semblance of a period, which excites me because I want my normal cycle to come quickly because I am married again and we want a baby. Last summer I went to the doctor because I had weight gain and I read on the internet that people had that problem with Mirena so I was intent to have it removed. My doctor told me that because the hormones are centralized in the uterus and not through the bloodstream, weight gain is rare. So we did some blood work and found I was I was insulin resistant and I lost 30 lbs by changing my diet. I'm so glad I didn't remove my Mirena then. I'm so sorry a lot of people haven't had success with Mirena, but if you are thinking of getting Mirena, remember there are a lot more women who have had great luck with it. The people who post are usually the ones with problems. The rest of us have become "one" with Mirena and never think about it because it has improved our lives (no periods, no worries of pregnancy). If you are thinking of Mirena, every woman is different. Don't rule it out based on what other women have experienced. It could be right for you. If it isn't you can get it removed.
