I sincerely hope that all of you earlier posters are fully recovered by now -- ??

I was placed on 400mg/day Doxy for one month due to a positive Lyme test. During that horrible time, I developed the most awful waves of chills up and down my body which alternated with burning sensations and sweating. Every joint hurt and I also developed anemia. I missed 10 straight days of work. Still, the MD told me to stay on it even after the more detailed blood work revealed I did not have Lyme. I stopped the Doxy 3 and 1/2 weeks ago and still have horrific insomnia (and I had always been a great sleeper) and chills (better but still there) with joint pain. Has anyone recovered from these side effects? How long did it take?

Pmscshug - I also was diagnosed with Lyme. Even after my Lyme tests came back saying Lyme was gone. I was told to stay on Dioxicylin, because I was complaining of constant burning around my knees. I say it feel like my knees are in a at of acid. Been off the antibiotics now, for almost 3 months, but the burning persists, and even got worse. It is scary and of course painful. My hips burn too, but nothing like my knees! Help!!!!

Missmysleep - I'm not sure if you received my earlier reply and hope you are feeling better by now. I know exactly how you feel and wish I could help more. I've been off the doxy for 8 weeks and still have the burning skin, muscle spasms, and tingling in my feet. However, a neurologist started my on Lyrica and, while it's only been 4 days, it does take the edge off the burning. This MD believes the body will quiet down again. From her lips to God's ears. Doxy is a neurotoxin, I have learned too late. The MDs need to monitor their patient's more closely and never assume a 'herx' reaction. Keep me posted. :)
