I was originally on the brand wellbutrin for a few months. My insurance then switched me to bupropion and I was actually okay for a bit. They had to up my medicine from 100 to 150mg though and that worked out well. On a previous drug, I had done nothing but gain weight and felt miserable and wanted to sleep all the time rather than take care of myself. Wellbutrin/bupropion actually made me want to get out of bed and go do things and get involved at school. I actually became an extrovert and those who knew me at college were none the wiser that I had ever been an introvert when I discussed my depression. Two months into the new year, my insurance switched me to budoprion. I didn't think much of it. I was very involved in so many clubs and I had taken five classes because I had finally felt good about myself. I lost weight. I started having trouble remembering things, I felt depressed again or as though I was on a roller coaster of mood swings. Sometimes it felt as though I wasn't taking any medication. I continued to declined for a few months, but I made it through to graduation and to my physical. It was then that my doctor realized something was wrong. I told her I was having trouble eating and I didn't feel right. She said they would do blood work and see what was wrong. I also opted to get the gardisil vaccine. I have never passed out from a shot or getting blood taken, but they gave me the shot and it stung a bit and I went and took my place in line to get my next appointment date before I went to the lab. The girl was on the phone and I must have waited a good 5-10 minutes. When she was done it hit me hard. I felt sick suddenly and like I was going to faint. The blood tests later showed that I was anemic and I had a very bad folate deficiency that now needs to be checked regularly. They believe this is caused by the budoprion which caused me to have an eating problem. I didn't even realize it. I was just grabbing quick things and running, but I couldn't eat a lot. I would eat or bite or two and I would get full. I was just thirsty a lot for water. Which was the anemia because I craved it cold or with ice. I've been back on the brand for about two months now and I don't feel completely normal yet. I have to take vitamin supplements and get my eating back on track now and it's really hard. I have never had a problem with eating, but this really screwed me up something fierce and I am quite the food junky. I love cooking up new recipes and trying new things, especially fruits and veggies. I guess being busy didn't help either and with the memory issues. I just want to feel happy again and sometimes I become afraid that it's not going to happen. I'm guessing that the dosage might need to be upped or something, but I'm sure my doctor will go over that at my next follow up again. It's just hard and I'm glad I'm not the only one who had problems on this! I worked very hard with a therapist too so I could get to a point that I could feel better and I want to get back there.

The only good to come out of this terrible experience on this drug is that I lost 4 lbs in one week without dieting or working out. This is very odd for someone like me with slow metabolism and hypothyroidism. Feeling like a zombie with a constant migraine and brain fog, however, is not worth it!
