Doxycycline Hyclate
Treating certain bacterial infections. It may be used in combination with other medicines to treat acne or certain amoeba infections. It may be used to prevent certain types of malaria in travelers who will be visiting malaria-infected areas for less than 4 months. It may also be used to prevent or slow the progression of anthrax after exposure.
Doxycycline Hyclate is a tetracycline antibiotic. It works by slowing the growth of bacteria. Slowing the bacteria's growth allows the body's immune system to destroy the bacteria.

Ive Missed my period after about 5 days after I started taking this drug... Has this occured to any one else? Or should I be worried? Help!

This stuff makes me vomit every time I take it. Weather I take it 1 hour before a meal, during a meal or even 2-3 hours after a meal, it still makes me vomit. I will even change doctor if my doctor doesn’t prescribe me something else. Also not only is the capsule huge the shell is way too hard to absorb. Doxycycline needs to be band.

I have been on Doxy (400mg a day) for 6 months now. I have lyme disease (confirmed by IGENX). The sun is killer. I live in San Diego (moved from DC) and have to wear long shirts, pants, and a large hat. I use 50-70spf sunblock and go through it like water. Nose, lips, ears, chin, and hands by far the worst burnt. Zinc seems to help the nose when surfing. I am also taking Cefdinir/omnicef (600mg per day for 6 months). I don't think the omnicef causes any problems with the sun. Either way, with the Doxy, you will get used to it. Take it on an empty stomach in the morning with 2 large glasses of water and don't eat for 2 hours. Then take it 30-45 minutes before bed. I have found this to be the easiest way to take it and the most effective. I have noticed that my liver / kidneys hurt every once in a while, but i believe that is from drinking too much alcohol and taking all the antibiotics and other pills they have me on (its hard not to go out with friends and drink for 6 months!). I am also taking Nystatin to reduce yeast buildup from the antibiotics killing all of the natural bacteria in my gut. I also take a Low Dose Naltrexone to boost the immune system. And I take Pancreatin, Biotin, and Ox Bile to make my blood more acidic to kill the Lyme bacteria (or atleast make it a little more hostile for them). I am done with Doxy today and celebrating as I feel like I am regaining a lost part of life THE DAYTIME. I will be moving on to a 6 month herbal regimen of Cats Claw/Paw (una de gato), astragalus, Venus Fly trap (Canivora), and a host of other Eastern herbals. We will see how it goes. By the way, I am a 26 year old healthy male that is very active. I did not let the Doxy keep me from going surfing everyday (just had to go at dusk) and to all that are whimpering over having to take 100mg of Doxy for a week or two, remember that there is always someone out there with a worse off situation. So suck it up and get your antibiotics finished so you don't have to deal with other problems later. I realize that everyone reacts differently to medications. But Doxy is nasty, but supposedly effective! Cheers to all and hopefully doxy will help more than it hurts, I sure have been banking on it.....
