Flomax

Tamsulosin is in a group of drugs called alpha-adrenergic (AL-fa ad-ren-ER-jik) blockers. Tamsulosin relaxes your veins and arteries so that blood can more easily pass through them. It also relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate. Tamsulosin is used to improve urination in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate). Tamsulosin may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide. Take tamsulosin exactly as your doctor has prescribed it for you. Do not use more of the medication than recommended. Do not take tamsulosin for longer than your doctor has prescribed. Follow the directions on your prescription label. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose to make sure you get the best results from this medication. Take each dose with a full glass of water. Swallow the tamsulosin capsule whole. Do not crush, chew, or open the capsule. Tamsulosin is usually taken once a day, approximately 30 minutes after a meal. Try to take this medication at the same time each day. If you stop taking tamsulosin for several days in a row, call your doctor before starting the medication again. You may need to restart at a different dose. To be sure this medication is helping your condition; your doctor will need to check you on a regular basis. Do not miss any scheduled appointments

I have been on flomax for about 2 weeks now. Urine flow has improved, but absolutely no semen upon ejaculation. Wondering if this is normal and will that cause other problems?? I dont re-visit the urologist for another 2.5 months.

I took Flomax for 7 days, prescribed by an ER Dr. to help relax the ureters to pass a kidney stone. A muscle in my right shoulder began twitching on day 3. On day 7, I acquired ringing in the left ear, and hearing loss in the same ear. Upon using the computer to research this drug, I realized I had blurred vision, and could no longer get by squinting to read the screen in a pinch. Please contact the FDA to report your side affects @ 1-800 332 1088. Also please contact the product manufacturer, and ask to report an "Adverse Event" related to the drug Flomax. The FDA requires drug makers maintain a "Drug Safety" department to report such safety information and adverse events, and this safety information can be used to force a drug off the market. Complaining here helps, but it will help more if you follow the process.

I am a white male age 54 and started taking Flowmax over three weeks ago. I am very aware of my body and how I feel. After taking this drug I noticed an immediate problem with shortness of breath. This of course effected my ability to sleep since I was awoken throught the night trying to catch a satifing breath and feeling smoothered. I also had a 50% decrease in seman. I immediatly dropped the Flowmax and the the satisfing breaths returned as well as the ejeculations. I figured that I could tolerate a slower uranition if it ment I could breath!!

Flomax Chemical Information

tamsulosin hydrochloride - The hydrochloride salt of tamsulosin, a sulfonamide derivative with adrenergic antagonist activity. Tamsulosin selectivity binds to and blocks the activity of alpha1 adrenoreceptors in the human prostate and bladder neck; blockade of these adrenoceptors can cause smooth muscle in the prostate and bladder neck to relax, resulting in an improvement in urine flow rate.
