Prednisone cut off the blood supply to my femurs, and they died. Now I am getting total hip replacements at 40 yrs old. Prednisone ruined my life , STAY AWAY FROM IT IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, if you can't make sure you take as low a dosage as possible.

I'm a 53 yr young woman, Prescribed a 2 week dose of Prednisone 1-1/2 weeks ago for continued ear infection and vertigo. Now the headaches are worse, feel like a vise grip is tightening around my skull, vertigo is worse, I'm having hot flashes and night sweats and feel like my blood pressure is rising. I want to just stop taking them but have been told this could be dangerous as well.

Prednisone Anhydrous Chemical Information

prednisone - A synthetic glucocorticoid with anti-inflammatory and immunomodulating properties. After cell surface receptor attachment and cell entry, prednisone enters the nucleus where it binds to and activates specific nuclear receptors, resulting in an altered gene expression and inhibition of proinflammatory cytokine production. This agent also decreases the number of circulating lymphocytes, induces cell differentiation, and stimulates apoptosis in sensitive tumor cells populations. (NCI04)
