I took my son to the dr. yesterday and he had his first singulair pill last night. about 2 hours later, he told me that his throat hurt. Now today, my 12 year old was very irritable and upset. Everything that he says to me is hateful, and this is not my boy at all. I am taking him off of this medication right now. There is too many other forms of medicine to control his asthma. If your child appears to be more irritable than usual, you can bet it is from this stuff.

My 12 year old daughter had what was suppose to be an "intramuscular" Kenalog and Celestone shot, that left her with a divet in her buttock. We are African-American and the spot lost all pigmentation, had strecth marks running through it and she also complained of loss of sensation in the area. Now about a year later the color has returned and it is less noticeable but is not gone. I believe this happened because of poor technique when giving the injection. My daughter is thin and I believe the medical assistant was afraid to inject the solution as deep as it should have been given. I have three co-workers that have experienced the same thing. I really think the physicians should train the staff better on giving these injections or give them personally. Good luck to all and I hope everyone sees improvement as we have and that my daughters divet continues to improve.

I have been on singulair for over 4 years with no side effects. Nothing but asthma that's totally under control. My 12 year old son has been on it on & off, when his allergys act up. He's been on 5mg a day regular for a couple of months straight. Last month I noticed my left eye was twitching often. Then about 2 weeks ago it went into a little spasm and was going on for about 80% of the day. It got so irritating I finally went to my interest, who gave me a muscle relaxer and said it would probably go away soon. A few nights ago my son showed me a twitch he had in his arm. It twitched all night. The only thing we have in common that I can think of is the Singulair. Wondering if it could be a side effect...?

My 12 year old son was put on Geodon for BPD. He was started at 40mg BID and 3days later upped to 60mg BPD. He slept through the first 3 days at 40mg and I contacted psydoc hesitant to increase. She insisted that paradoxical reactions happen at lower doses and that we should increase it.
Also...said the sedation would eventually wear off. On day two at 60mg my 12 year old started having intrusive thoughts of a sexual nature. They were horrible!! He begged me to make them stop. We stopped the Geodon. He is now very depressed, going through withdrawl, vomiting and still having intrusive thoughts that won't stop of the most perverse sexual nature.
The psych ward for kids is full and he can't be admitted. He is begging for help to make the horrible thoughts stop. It's been about 40 hours since last dose. I called psydoc after the assessment to say he wasn't admitted to hospital and still vomiting and going through withdrawl and begging for someone to help him to stop these thoughts. She has not called us back and it's been four hours.

Thought I was losing my mind--started seeing thing's and people I knew were not there ---Saw my Husband outside in the snow with our dog I thought he was waving---I went to let him in ---He was not there ------ my 19 year old grandson was seen as a 12 year old sittiing outside in the snow smiling at me---I once again ran to the door of course he was not there. Also saw white mice running down my door's ---slept with my light's on and was very upset that I was losing my mind. So relieved to find Discontinuing Tizanidine stopped all symton's. Very frightening expierence.

I started with a cold last week. On Wednesday (June 15, 2005) my doctor gave me some cough meds. Then I went back on Friday, still ill. He prescribed Zurtech (SPELLING?) Antibiotic? And some other breathing med that starts with a "V" I belive... and Singulair. I took it, laid down. FIVE min later, I sat up in bed. My throat had closed and I was having a hard time breathing today. My 12 year old had to call 9-11. When they came they couldn't understand what was wrong with me. My BP was like about 178/100 (That afternoon it was 122/70) and my pulse was even elevated. My lungs were totally clear. They had me sign a release of liability and then left. When I looked on the net I see that this drug CAN cause the throat to close! NO MORE OF THIS FOR ME!!!!!

this medicine is a wonder drug for my very large 12 year old. the doctor put him on it about 7 months ago and since then, i have a loving, caring and healthy son. He used to eat all of the time and could not get full making him the joke of school. now he can focus in school and at home. his worrying all the time and trying to passify his worries with food have disappeared. if everything else fails for you or your child, i would highly recommend adderall. by the way, his doasage is 30 mg.

My 12 year old daughter went to the emergency room today with severe hives, joint inflamation, throat irritation, swelling in hands and feet. The doctors felt this was an adverse reaction to one dose of tessalon.

My 12 year old son given Singulair yesterday by our pediatrician for a mild allergy problem (a sample package with a prescription to fill). There were no issueswith the first dose but he began vomiting after breakfast and again later that morning. After reading these posts I realize that as a parent we must be more cautious of the medications we give to our children and investigate possible side effects prior to treatment, no matter what the doctors say. I have not read any other signs of vomiting from these posts but a lot of other possible side effects that I am just not willing to take any chances with this medication. In the trash it goes.
