Well I had my Mirena inserted in July 2008. A month and a half after my little guy was born. A week later I started to experience sever irritability. I mean to the point where i would just yell at my 2 month old son to shut up(I know pathetic). About three weeks later I woke up to feed my son at 2am and I felt short of breath and my heart was racing, my hands and chest were cold and tingling. I thought i was dying. After extensive work up for a pulmonary embolism which was all negative they said that I had probably had a panic/anxiety attack. I was then put on anti depressants for post partum depression. Weird I have no family history of postpartum depression and have never had depression issues in the past. I can't say whether it is from the mirena or if it is truly PPD but it really makes me wonder after reading all of these posts. I have had irritability, hot flashes, chronic yeast infections, ovarian cysts and so on. I had my Mirena removed a week ago after yet another yeast infection and ovarian cyst and after reading all of these posts. My OB cultured the Mirena and it grew out E-Coli!!!! and Enteroccous bacteria. After I found this out i read a few studies that showed that over 50% of Mirena IUD cultures grew out E-Coli, staph, and enteroccous bacteria. Which now explains the DISCHARGE!!! I have had since this thing was put in. Ladies if you are having chroinc discharge and yeast infections you need to really consider having this taken out. How scary. I have noticed my patience coming back and I feel relief almost I still feel tired and have hot flashes but my OB said that after they treat me with a course of two different antibiotics that should go away. Good luck ladies!! The only bad thing is I have my period again :(

My wife has been on it and Seroquel and Lamictal for about 2 years. The longest on Geodon. Up to 80MG per day and as low as 20. She started having muscle cramps in her legs after about 2 weeks on 80 mg. Doc put her on Benztropine to counter act the cramps. Then Seroquel at night. (she had bad psychosis). Then later the Psychiatrist would not treat her and we switched to another doc. She was on Seroquel. He increased it to 600 mg at night. Then her throat felt like it was locking up at 2am She quit Seroquel immediately. Then back to 20 mg Geodon... Zyprexa for a trial.. 2 doses and she had a seizure. Invega... akathesia and heart rate up after one dose.
Now she has been off of Geodon for 5 weeks and has SEVERE gi upset. She is having ERCP and Pancrea ultrasound tomorrow. But I think it is ALL gi upset caused by Geodon. She took ONE 20 mg Geodon Saturday and EVERYTHING went away. GI normal... but I will NOT let her stay on this drug. I WANT MY WIFE BACK! It has destroyed her personality. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE? Is the permanent?

First of all let me state that I stopped Advair (or Seretide 125 here in the UK) before I was aware of a plethora of potential side-effects.
I've had asthma for 4 years (male 39) and I started just over two years ago when I had a chest infection. Two days later I developed quite a bad pneumonia and ended up in hospital. Thankfully it cleared OK and I got out quickly enough. After that I continued with it. Around late summer last year I noticed my libido dropping off, bad sleep patterns (really tired at 10pm yet waking up at 2am and unable to sleep again), depressive episodes, mood swings and mental fogginess especially in the afternoon. Blood tests showed borderline low testosterone levels and I was referred to an endocrinologist early in 2009. A few tests later and I was no further forward but I started to suspect my adrenal function was poor. An ATCH stimulation test was done but it was "normal". I then had a tremendously bad depressive episode and went to the doctors. He offered me prozac until we got to the bottom of the issue but I declined as I suspect it would make things worse. I then started to analyze what had changed in my life and the only thing that had the potential was the Seretide. I then changed back to Clenil (beclomethasone) and the difference was like day and night. My sleep patterns immediately restored themselves and my mental state went back to normal. I also run up to 50 miles per week and suffered occasional cramps - I could even cramp at will by placing my lower leg in a particular place! Needless to say this has gone too. I now have another blood test next week and it'll be very interesting to see where my T levels are now.
I suspect that Advair/Seretide causes adrenal issues in susceptible people. Once your adrenals are out of whack then your thyroid and other hormonal systems start to get affected.

About a month ago I noticed my left thigh was going numb. I had been a little less active due to tennis elbow, so I stepped up my exercise a bit. The whole side of my thigh hip to knee became completely numb. A few days later I began to tingle in my hands and face and by big toe and foot. I went to my Chiropractor 3 times a week and he really felt I was in good alignment and should not be having these extreme problems. He scheduled me for an MRI and x-rays. He kept asking about ANY other changes in life. I lost my brother to polymyositis 5 years ago and was starting to have scary thoughts. I woke up at 2am on a Friday 2 weeks ago and remembered my Dr. had started me on Lipitor 6 weeks earlier !
I got up and googled "Lipitor numbness" and found this page and a host of others. I stopped taking Lipitor. It has been 2 weeks since I quit and numbness has turned to shooting pains and burning so bad I can hardly stand my pant legs or my bed sheets touching me. I continue to have tingling in my hands and feet and I am a professional musician. (guitar player) Will somebody please tell me that over time all of these symptoms will wear off and pass ?

I'd be thrilled to skip a period. Heck, that's why my doctor prescribed Seasonale. The pharmacist, however, gave me Quasense instead. Let's see. It's 2am on Christmas Eve. I have basically been bleeding since HALLOWEEN. This is beyond ridiculous, and I really can't see myself "hanging in there" and waiting for it to stop. If I'm not all-out cramping, then it's just annoying, brown spotting. On top of that, my face has been breaking out since like, the second week of starting it. The insane thing is, I'm on Wellbutrin at the moment-- that pill is noted to decrease appetite and increase sex drive. I'm pretty sure Quasense is canceling THAT out entirely; I'm always hungry, and if I never had sex again I'd probably be thrilled. Worst. Birth Control. Ever.

I was diagnosed with bronchitis a couple of days a go and was given a 5 day course of Levaquin 750mg. The doctor also gave me a prescription for the Z pack in case Levaquin did not work. Before I went to the doctor I had a fever of 102 for 5 days so I was ready to take anything. That evening Nov. 11th 2008 I took my first pill... and my last one. The onset of side effects started within 3 hours. It began with an extreme blinding headache and a very stiff neck. I finally fell asleep and had the most intensely bizarre dreams which I woke up from several times to find my self drenched in sweat. The night sweats were extremely intense and followed me through to the next day. I could not stop sweating... My head was pounding in pain, it felt as if my brain was swelling though my fever had subsided. I proceeded to turn the tv on to try to distract myself, but as I was doing so my mind was racing and I found it very difficult to organize my thoughts. My vision was very isolated meaning that I felt like I had lost my peripheral vision all together. I was unable to read silently without hearing the words in a loud voice in my head...very very strange. I had zero appetite and experienced serious diarrhea the next day. This drug felt overwhelmingly powerful kind of like dropping a nuclear weapon on a small village. I felt like my body was on fire for a moment as if i was given chemo therapy. While trying not to panic I realized that a lot of my joints were cracking. It was then I decided to go online and do some reading about this drug...WOW... I mean WOW... How do scientists manage to create a drug that can actually snap tendons... We can't cure anything but we sure can napalm the hell out of anything. That being said I decided to call my doctor and said WTF were you thinking giving me this!?! Needless to say it took about 60 hours for the one pill to wear off. I am terrified to think what would happen to me if I had finished the 5 day course. I know the one pill caused some damage, hopefully nothing permanent. I am now on the Z pac and it is very mild in comparison. Please listen to your body as I did and immediately discontinue use if you experience any side effects. I firmly believe that this drug is something you take only if you are dying and there are just no alternatives ie Anthrax.

I just finished a 10-day prescription of 500mg per day for a sinus infection. I have had accelerated heart rate, pain in my joints, and have been very irritable. After the last dose, I broke out in hives all over my body and had to run to the store at 2am to grab some benadryl to counteract the effects. I can't believe that my doctor would prescribe me something like this with the huge number of comments I have read online in the past 24 hours

I was prescribed Levaquin 750 mg one time a day for 8 days. I was prescribed this for a ear and sinus infection that would not go away. I took my 1st dose last night @ 7pm. By 2am I was very restless with extreme pain all over especially in my jaw and legs. I have never been in more pain in my life. I am a healthy 35 year old mother of two. In the morning it took everything I had to get out of bed to get the girls off to school. It is now 11 am and I'm just starting to feel better. I called the doctors office and told them I will not take another dose of this medication and they must prescribe me something else. I will be drinking a ton of water today to try to flush this horrible drug out of my system.

I was prescribed the 4mg methylprednisolone pack along with 50 mg tramadol for acute tendinitis in my wrist. I took the first 3 days of the prednisone and only 2 doses of the tramadol over the three days. For a total of 60 mg of prednisone.
The first day I had hot flashes and insomnia but attributed it to the tramadol because I had never taken it before and had taken the prednisone several years ago for poison ivy with no adverse reactions. I didn't take the tramadol the second night and then took it again last night along with my daily dose of prednisone. I had extreme difficulty falling asleep, heart burn, hot flashes; and tossed and turned all night trying to fall asleep. At around 2am, I began to have difficulty breathing, tightening in my chest, confusion, and racing thoughts. It felt as though my throat was closing up on me. My anxiety progressed to the point that I was pacing back and forth. I woke my husband up and told him to prepare to take me to the ER. After calling my insurance's 24 hour help line, it was recommended that I go to the ER. I had an x-ray, blood work, urine drug screen, and echocardiogram. Luckily, everything was negative. The ER doctor told me that I likely had a reaction to the prednisone and commented that some people will experience these symptoms when taking it. He stated that he had a similar reaction when he took it and it felt like he was climbing the walls, which is an accurate description of my experience that night. He recommended that I either stop taking it altogether or call my primary care provider and cut it down. He prescribed me xanax and administered some to me at the ER which greatly helped. The next day I stopped taking the pred but am still having dizziness, chest tightness, hot flashes, and mental dullness. I have decided to never take this medication again. Fortunately, I don't have any of the physical sx that some have experienced, and my heart goes out to you. I think the mental symptoms were traumatic enough for me and can't imagine having both as I would be a basket case. I have mood swings, some melancholia, and am very fatigued.
I think it is imperative to research any medication that is prescribed to you before you take it. Many providers will say that side effects are rare, but my experience is that side effects are more common than rare. My prayers go out to those of you who are going through what I am going through. I hope that it clears our systems quickly because this is no way to live. I'd rather put up with the pain of tendinitis or carpel tunnel than to have these symptoms.

I started taking Levaquin on Aug 8th for bronchitis 6 days after taking medication I was awoken about 2am with severe shoulder pains in both shoulders I went to the ER to find out why I told them that I was taken Levaquin they took an X-ray of my shoulders and said they were fine prescribed percocet for pain. Pain got worse went back to ER was given a shot for pain and was told to get an appointment with bone and joint Dr. On the day of appointment my right forearm, wrist and hand swelled up. I told my Bone and Joint Dr.that I was taken Levaquin I told him that I stopped it immediately after reading side effects He prescribed an anti-imflammitory Pain got more severe went back to ER was given EKG and took blood and urine test all test came back fine. Went to another doctor he then checked me for Lyme disease. which came back neg. I then went back to first doctor that prescribed the Levaquin. she thought that I had arthritis. 8 different blood test were given all came back fine. Ended back in ER because by the end of day I could not walk, had high fever, sore throat, severe head ache, and was sick to stomach. Several more blood test were done. all came back fine. ER doctor prescribed prednisone which seem to help some. I went and seen another Dr. Still no one knows what is really wrong. I believe it is the LEVAQUIN it has messed me up bad.

I took Zolpidem (Ambien) last night for the first time. It was prescribed to me by my oncologist as I have been having trouble sleeping ever since I have started chemotherapy for breast cancer one week ago. I fell asleep quickly and slept well for 5 hours, but awoke at 2am with a headache. I took 1 gram of Tylenol at 2am but was unable to go back to sleep because the headache became increasingly worse and did not go away until I drank some coffee at 5am. It was the worse headache I have ever had. The caffeine made it go away finally.

Hi everyone
My little boy who is nearly two was put on Singulair as a preventative.
I did check on forums when we started using Singulair and I was concerned that there has been descriptions of negative affects. Always trying to be objective I rationalised that the people in this forum are a small part of the greater Singulair population and as a result there was a low risk of negative affects on my little boy.
I have to say I think I was wrong. As soon as he was using Singulair, he had restless nights of sleep. Every night he would cry off and on until 2am and I guess he was so tired he slept. During the day he was very short tempered and became upset very easily. We put this down to tiredness. After 10 days of the lack of sleep for parents and little one, we told our doctor.
He advised to take him off Singulair for 5 days and make observations and then put him back on. Last night, his first night off Singulair was bliss. Not a sound. He had a great sleep. As I type he is now having another great sleep.
Let us see what happens after 3 more days and after putting him back on Singulair.
It would seem that if we are correct and that Singulair is a cause of an issue for my child, am I a quasi beta testing laboratory for a drug?
We are from Australia.
Thank you for reading.

I am finally writing after reading these posts since the end of April. That is when I took my 11 year old son off singulair, in an act of desperation. He has been on singulair on and off for about five years for seasonal allergies. He started again in mid-March so it could get into his system, before the allergies started. Immediately thereafter his behavior changed. He was arguing on a daily basis. He would hit, kick or trip me when he was angry. He was starting to destroy things in anger. He seemed to be fueled by anger. It was affecting the whole family. He was starting fights with his younger brother, my husband's heart was palpitating and I was crying every day. I heard about Singulair side effects and looked it up. I saw that it caused behavioral changes and out of desperation, took him off, not knowing what to expect. We had three days of total peace, then on the fourth day another outburst. Then my son told me he had taken a singulair the night before. That was it. I threw every pill in the garbage. He no longers acts like that. It's been almost two months so I am convinced it was the Singulair. By the way, he always complained of headaches, stomach aches and would scream in his sleep. Who knew - it was the singulair all along.

My mother started taking Ambien CR around a year ago about this time last summer. Almost immediately I noticed a severe change in her mood and demeanor. She started experiencing tremendous mood swings, delusions, paranoid and aggressive thoughts, sleepwalking, eating and others activities while asleep and waking up not remembering a thing. In a matter of 4 months she had totally lost the ability to think or care for herself. Her house was about to be foreclosed on because she hadn't paid any of her bills in 4 months! Not only that she had been throwing away all of he mail and business information so even when I tried to take over the finances I couldn't because there was no paper work left to find anywhere in the house. To top it all off she was going through the process of preparing for a surgery on her back that she had been waiting for almost a year.
The surgery was supposed to last a few hours and then she would have to stay in the hospital for 1 week for recovery and then do a couple more weeks of rehabilitation. By this point though she had been taking the Ambien every night for about 5 months and at 2am about twelve hours after surgery I received a call from the hospital saying that my mother was catching a cab home from the hospital and had signed herself out against doctors advice. They also told me that she was having paranoid delusions that people were watching her from the parking lot of the hospital and that the hospital was trying to overly drug her up. My mother confirmed these statements as the security guard handed her the phone to try to have me persuade her to stay.
She couldn't remember anything or do anything and her delusions were getting worse. One evening it got to the point where the delusions combined with her back pain sent her by ambulance into the emergency room. While going thru intake she couldn't even answer basic questions like her name and age with out prompting from me to have her answer. This brought up a huge response from the intake nurse who asked if the only reason for the visit was back pain or if something else was wrong. She was then transported to a crisis center for an evalutation, which made her mood severely extreme she became verbally aggressive defensive and paranoid. Before the crisis center could even complete an evaluation they had to come and ask me about her basic medical history because she couldn't even correctly give them that information.
After they finished the evaluation they came to the conclusion that my 49 year old mother either had schizophrenia or dementia! These two mental disabilities do not just manifest themselves in people who them and their families have no history. The interviewer, staff, and doctors were at a complete loss and had no idea what was going on or creating my mother’s mood swings and bizarre behavior. They tried to threaten her to get her to sign herself inpatient saying that if she had come back again she would not have a choice but that didn't work. State law requires that only a person that is harm to himself or herself or someone else can be admitted into an impatient crisis ward and since she had made no such threat nothing could be done.
I started to talk to her doctors finding out that they were noticing the came bizarre behaviors that were not present before and accumulating a list of medications that she was on. After fully investigating the possibility of a drug interaction between the medications and the possibility that she was experiencing psychosis and finding out that that again was not the cause I became even more discouraged and frantic. Then I started to talk to some of the students at my college and found out that they were also experiencing the same problems either in their own lives or with their loved ones the only commonality between the collections of people I talked to that were experiencing the same problems was the drug Ambien. I immediately called my mothers doctor and he advised me that must be source of the problem and for her to stop taking the medicine. It took about 2months for my mothers’ mental state to return to normal but it has taken over a year and a bankruptcy to clear away the damage that Ambien had created in her life.

So...
The Geodon seemed to make me too drowsy and I felt it was causing my sleep issue. I couldn't wake up in the morning. It was like I was still in REM while trying to wake. I could sleep until 12 noon and then realize I was late for work. Adderall barely seemed to help anymore.
After swearing off medications forever, I finally hit rock bottom realizing that my BiPolar had gotten the best of me. A DUI, WAY BAD CREDIT...I dug my self a hole of DEBT! My compulsive EVERYTHING had dug me a hole that thank God my Mother is still willing, after 22 years, is willing to help pull me out.
On my own, no psychiatrist involved, with my samples of Geodon and a prescription of Adderall provided by my primary care physician...I decided to go back on medication and so far...a week into it, I have noticed a significant difference...and so has others. Yes, I still might not want to wake up in the morning, but I am able to effectively work and actually somewhat enjoy doing it. I feel like I want to do things where as before...I just wanted to sleep or lay on the couch watching TV. I want to have a future and I want to better myself, where as before I wanted nothing but another drink and some pills. I feel that my quality of life has already improved and I hope with seeing my new psychiatrist on Tuesday, he might better my therapy.
Here is my current problem before asking my doctor.... hadn't taken any adderall for days. I took the Geodon at night, 60mg one day and 80mg the next thinking it might help with my sleep but it didn't do a thing. I Then the next day I took adderall around 7AM and 80mg of Geodon about 9PM and I couldn't keep my eyes open about 1-2 hours after taking the Geodon and I over-slept that morning and didn't wake up until after 10:30am when I am suppose to be at work at 9:00am.
Is it common for the extreme drowsiness to occur with the combination of Adderall in the morning and Geodon at night? I know before when I took both never missing either one, I was always extremely drowsy and that's one of the reasons I stopped taking meds. But after experiencing Geodon without adderall, I am wondering if the TWO don't mix well.
PLEASE HELP.

I took my first dose of Levaquin at 6:30Pm on January 3rd. Soon after I developed a sunburn like rash, puffy eyes that got really bloodshot, a severe-severe headache, fainting, low blood pressure (70/40,) pain and heaviness in my knees that made it difficult to walk, pain in my back in the midsection, a ringing so loud in my ears that I thought something must have been banging on the house, and sensitivity to light and sound. The headache was so bad that I the air blowing through the vents at the hospital was painful to hear. I was in the hospital by 2AM, and remained there for 4 days. Mainly because the staff did not believe that the Levaquin was the culprit and gave me another dose once I was feeling a bit more like myself..

Hello all!! I have been on NR for around 9 mos. I think that this is a great method of BC for me, a person who forgets to take pills and gets rediculous nausea from pills. However, I'm wondering if anyone experiences NIGHT SWEATS? I sweat so much at night, that everything is soaked and I often feel like something is crawling on me and its just perspiration. This is gross! I've taken many 2am showers because I can't stand it. As I read some of your entries, I noticed that fatigue is mentioned. I thought I needed vitamins, more blood, or just 24hrs of sleep. I wanna continue to use this method of BC, but can't stand these two problems.

I started taking 500mg levaquin after regular antibiotics (ammoxicillin) were not helping a sinus infection. I took it for 2 days and noticed a really sharp pain in my lower stomach. When I went to the bathroom, it hurt even worse, which made me think it was my kidneys. I decided to stop taking this medicine, as the pain was becoming unbearable and I couldn't miss work. Two days after stopping this med, I woke up at 2am with my throat so swollen I could barely swallow. It happened very suddenly. I cannot express the pain, it was almost unbearable. The only thing I can even tolerate is jello or liquids. I took another levaquin this morning not knowing what to do, but now I think I'm going back to the doc to get something else. I also have lots of muscle aches and pains, but didn't notice them because I have another health condition that causes them anyway.

I don't think my last post went through...my 22 mo old was given omnicef for pneumonia 2 days ago - the very first night he woke up screaming like crazy, lasted off an on for an hour or so, maybe more. He is NOT a sleep terror toddler and never has had sleep problems. The next day he did the same thing when waking up from his nap, the screaming and crankiness lasted about 30-45 min. It is now 2am and he's been doing it off and on for an hour again. My husband is with him and I am reading every one else's posts with the same effects on their kids. I just went over the omnicef website with a fine tooth comb - NOTHING on this side effect - it's rediculous. This is found on the internet by too many people making these middle of the night posts - i'd probably recomend they put a little more money into research and figure out what in the world is going on and why so many people are having the same experience. I'll be calling my doctor in the morning! He has also been really crabby since starting it - he'll just scream and 'freak out' at the drop of a hat - kind of like terrible 2's X 10 - and he was not previously like that either.

It is now 2am and my 22 mo old has been on omnicef for pneumonia for 2.5 days...starting the night he took it he started waking up in the middle of the night just screaming - he does not get night terrors, this all started happening the exact night he started the medicine...he did it the next day when waking up from a nap as well and then again tonight. My husband is with him and I am searching the internet on this stuff - I have no doubt it's the medicine after reading these similar stories - and will be calling his DR in the morning. He has also had 8 runny diapers in the last 15 hours since starting it.

Wow..thanks for this web site! I'm taking 50mg of Toprol a day. I've gained 75 pounds...while on a diet! I have NEVER been this fat in my life. I've had problems with dizziness, tiredness, and trouble sleeping. I called the pharmacy and was told these are very rare problems. He said he would'nt blame the weight gain on Toprol. As far as wakeing up around 2am and not being able to go back to sleep, he said to take it in the morning and not at night. He said "if a person gets a hang nail, they have to list it as a possible side effect".
As I read the problems on this site, I see I'm not alone. What should I do? Can I quit taking this drug and how?

I took Guaifenex for the first time yesterday, and I might add for the last time yesterday. My blood pressure rose quickly, the Systolic rose 40 points and the Diastolic rose 30 points and my resting pulse rate raised over 40 bbm. When at the doctor in the same morning, both blood pressure and pulse were normal. I have never before had this type of reaction to any medication. My night sleep of 2am - 4am will not help me get better, no matter how "wonderful" of a decongestant this stuff is. It took two doses for this reaction to hit me. I am sure that this may not be the normal reaction - but if you get it watch out, because it is very scary.

The first night I started levaquin I had difficulty sleeping and woke up in a panic @ 2am. The second night I slept only 2 hours of which was restless sleep. I have had several episodes of tachycardia (high heart rate), just pounding! I have felt uneasy and anxious as well. My teeth and joints are sore. However, despite all this discomfort, my sinus infection is clearing. The pharmacist doesn't seem concerned, however I am calling my physician in the morning. I suppose this is simply the antibiotic battling the infection. I feel worse on the medication!
By the way -this is the 5 day 750mg pack. Thanks, Dana

I had my baby girl in March 2009. Six weeks later, after consulting with a good friend and my OBGYN, I had the Mirena put in. I have not had a period since before I was pregnant, which is nice, but I am still breastfeeding, so I am sure that plays some role. Over the last four months, several things in my life have changed, but I chalked it all up to being a new mother. I think my husband literally thought he had just lost his wife and best friend to motherhood.
- I am tired all the time, regardless of what time I go to bed, and speaking of going to bed...That never happens before 2am! And there are some nights I can toss and turn until 4 or 5! Even when I do sleep, it's never very restful. I chalked this up to being a new mother, and having a baby that didn't sleep thru the night, but she has been sleeping thru the night for almost a month now, and still, I get no sleep.
- I have been having a lot of lower back pain, which I blamed on my mattress. After some careful thought, I realized, I have had the same mattress for over 2 years now and never had any problems! In fact, it's the best mattress I have owned to date.
- Moodiness....don't even get me started on this one! I can start an argument out of thin air! And still think I have just cause! My husband and I are going to Jamaica next week for vacation, and I got mad at him because he wants to take some scuba diving classes. Now, how I managed that one, I have no idea. I will be cleaning the house in pure silence, and just have constant angry thoughts running through my head.
- As I said before, I am still breastfeeding, which is also a great way to burn calories. I have consistently lost baby weight over the last 5 months up until about a month ago. My weight just froze, and then started going back up. I put on 5 pounds in less than 2 weeks! Nothing has changed! I have started working out and keeping a closer eye on what I eat, but it hasn't had any effect. (My best friend had her Mirena put in 6 months before me, and she gained 40 pounds in 6 months. I am nipping this one in the bud!)
- Water retention! Now this one, I have never paid much attention to. I don't really keep an eye on my water intake versus out take, but I did one day last week. I had lunch with my sister, and drank literally about 5 glasses of tea. Any normal person would need too pee most likely prior to leaving the restaurant, right? Well, I left the restaurant, went to the grocery store for about 1 1/2 hours, then drove 45 minutes home, all the time never even having an urge. It wasn't until after I had gotten home, unloaded my daughter and all the groceries, when I finally made a trip to the bathroom. That same night when I was getting ready for bed, I noticed my lower abdomen was swollen up like I was about 4 months pregnant again!
- Sex drive....Let's just say I would rather lay in a bed of nails than have sex, and I used to be a very sexually active individual. And, it has definitely taken a toll on my marriage!
- Absent mindedness....One of my best qualities that I "used to" possess was organization. I prided myself in it, and over the last few months, my husband tells me I am just all over the place. I can't think straight, I jump around in conversations, my memory is shot! I will start doing a load of laundry, walk away and wash some dishes, then 10 minutes later realize, that I never finished loading the washer or put the detergent in!
Now, if all of this isn't enough, my OBGYN tells me that there is a small chance that the Mirena can get displaced, and if it gets too far gone, have to be removed surgically, but she said in all her time as a Dr., she had only seen it happen one time! So, I thought great! The chances of it getting dislodged are slim to none right? Well, I was talking to one of my girlfriends from high school the other day, and hers got misplaced! Now, she might be pregnant!
I realize that the Mirena affects everyone differently, but after finding this website and reading posts for hours about all the terrible things women are going thru with this BC, all my symptoms seem to make sense, and I don't feel like such a crazy beast any more. I wanted to share my story in hopes that it may help another woman who thinks she has just gone nuts! I had my Mirena taken out yesterday. I was in bed by 11pm last night, still didn't get the most restful sleep, but it does take a few days to get the hormones out of your system. My lower abdomen is already noticeably flatter, and I just feel an overall sense of relief. I just wish I had researched this birth control before I went out and spent the money on it. There is an old saying that really rings true for me in this case, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!"
