i got my mirena inserted in august 2006 wanted get tubes tied but the gyno said the mirena is reversible if anything was to happen to my kids. i was still breastfeeding but trying to stop i didn't think anything of it when my breasts became tender but now that my daughter is completely weaned (i was so tired that she used to feed in the middle of the night when i was asleep) i have noticed a discharge that is similar to the discharge when pregnant i have asked the doctor to remove it but he has told me to give it another 3 months i am going to find another doctor but because i need antibiotics when having it inserted and removed i am going to have two appointments in the one day

Both of my children have CA MRSA and have been on this medication for 3 month periods. I'm not sure about any side effects. That's the reason I'm on this website. However, I find that I can't read the postings of others without making one myself. So here it is. Sorry for the waste of space.

OKay, I don't know if this has anything to do with Mirena or not, but I have had my implant since August 2006. Typically I am a very happy, healthy person. I eat extremely heathy (almost all organic, tons of vegetables & fish & almost no processed foods). Anyhow, for the last 6-8 months have have become VERY moody. I am often grumpy, I cry everyday, I have pain in my joints (I believe it to feel like arthritic pain). My finger joints are always sore. I am a fit person & am uncapable of opening a jar anymore. And, I have this nagging pain in my lower back to the left of my spine. Like I said, I'm not sure if this is because of my mirena implant, but I take no other medication, I don't even take OTC pain meds. I'm only 27 and consider myself to be very healthy. I'm not sure what else it could be. I suppose I will have it removed & see if I can become a normal human being again. I appreciate anyone else who can share their experience...I just want to know if I'm crazy or not???

In 10/2001 I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and my MD prescribed a Lupron 3 month Injection to reduce the size of my prostate prior to radiation seed therapy. l started having the following symptons immediatetly frequent hot flashes which disrupted my sleeping at night from 4 to 6 times per night and which lasted for 9 months, I was no longer able to achieve an erection, although immediately prior I was able to have sex with an orgasm. I loss muscle and gained weight. Seven years have past and during that time I developed a heart arthymia which I was hospitalised for all this despite forcing myself to stay physically active, by walking, lifting weights and doing manual labor. I have never been able to regain my strength despite my exercising. I am now suffering from an undiagnosed skin disease and low blood platelets which my doctor thinks is an auto immune problem. This drug has had a severe impact on my well being and I tell all my male friends that if they ever have prostate issues to avoid hormone therapy at all cost.

I was a healthy 59 year old woman until my doctor prescribed Levaquin for a minor eye pain. I was taking 500 mg. a day for 6 days and on the seventh day I broke out with thousands of hives all over my entire body.I also had severe chest pains and a terrible pain in my back and jaw. I thought I was having a heart attack. The doctor examined me and took an EKG. I had a normal EKG it was not a heart atatck. My physican precribed benadryl and sent me home. A few days later I started with a terrible burning in my esophagus and stomach , and the terrible hives continued. I went back to my doctor and he precribed Zyrtec. The Zyrtec helps the hives to "sleep". I find that 22hours into the 24 hour pill I start to see all of the hives popping out and itching. The doctor gave me a fat free .diet and sent me on my way. Two days later back to see my physican. I told him I was still in severe pain. My stomach and esophagus were on fire and that I was having terrible pain in my diaphram when bending over. I insisted that he refer me to a gastointerstional doctor as an emergency or I was going to the Emergency Room now. He sent me to a Gastro Doctor and upon examining me he said I had GERD. He also precribed a Fat Free Diet, and gave me a pill called Zegrid. This did not help at all. I than made an appointment for an Endoscopy. The findings are acute inflamation in the stomach and inflamation in the esophagus. I also have a hiatal hernia. The doctor told me to double up on the Zegrid.. The Biopsy will be back in two weeks. My pain continued so I called the gastro docor and he gave me Carafate. I continue to have the burning, the hives, pain in my diaphram and back, and now a feeling that I have something stuck in my throat. I never had any of these issues prior to taking Levaquin. I am going back to the doctor today as I have added naseua to the list of my complaints. I eat very lightly and drink very little as when I drink I sometimes get terrible pain in my diaphram. I have been to my primary physican 8 times, gastro 2 times, I have had about $500. in prescriptions, EKG's , Sonograms, Endoscopys, and Biopsys. I am starting to wonder if the medical profession set me up. Levaquin is poison to some people. Why did my doctor give me this medication for an eye ache.? It may be too late for me to debate the use of this medication that I took blindly, but maybe someone out there will read my story and think before they blindly take a medication that may change there life forever. Does any one out there have any of the same issues from Levaquin? Thanks for reading my story. Cheri

I started taking Quasense around the end of May , when I first started taking it I was perfectly fine for the first month . Well I came on my period at the end of June which I wasn't expecting because your periods are only suppose to come every three months and I had just had a period before I had started taking the pill. Since the end of June I have been on my period , it stoped for about an week and came right back. I called an clinician and they said for the first three months of the pill your body is getting use to the hormones so I want to know will it eventuall stop soon, or what is going on with my body ,and also is this normal?

I have not taken Lupron. In fact, I refused to take it at my doctor's insistence. I am a healthy 45 year old woman - why would I give that up for a temporary fix (6 months at most) for my endometriosis when I may have other options?

I don't want to trade my low blood pressure, healthy body weight, healthy bones, ability to sleep, clear skin, normal bowel movements, lack of severe migraines and lack of irritability for lack of endo pain.

I do not discount the endo pain - it can be crippling - but so is this drug! Everyone must make their own decision regarding whether or not to take Lupron but please, please do your research. Most doctors don't let you know that you have options. Call the Endometriosis Organization and ask for a specialist in your area. Endo is a little-known and often misunderstood disease. Find yourself a surgeon with a great deal of experience with endo - NOT an OB with a great deal of experience delivering babies.

It really upsets me to see so many women feel that they have to pay this price to relieve the pain. I am going to an endo specialist for a second opinion in a couple of weeks. I don’t know what he’ll say about my case but I am pretty sure the answer won’t be Lupron.

I am not usually a person who senses a doctor or a drug company is unethical, but remember, there will be no greater advocate for your health than yourself! Educate yourself, and ask your doctor lots of questions. If your doctor gives you a hard time – find another one. It’s your body and you have to live with the consequences.

I was on Ortho 7/7/7 for 9 years that gave me mood swings mainly when i took the beinging pills or white pills. After I had my daughter I switched to Yasmin for 3 months. It is the best thing I ever took! I feel like normal me. I dont get moody at all. Too bad it's alittle on the expensive side. $50 for a 3 month supply through my insurance. the other Ortho's are $14. Same time, It's worth every penny to feel normal.

I just finished my last shot in my six month treatment of Lupron. My doc tells me he wants me to do another six months because he has never seen anyone with so few side effects. I haven't had any hot flashes, very few headaches, I'm a little achy now and then, and my moodiness is tolerable. The only thing I would like to change is my ability to get a full night's sleep. I always feel exhausted and like I don't have too much energy. My question, however, is about blood pressure. Since I have started the Lupron, my pressures have consistently been 20 points higher than normal and it's getting to the point where my doc says I need to do something (like hypertension meds) for my own safety. Does anyone else have this from the Lupron? I am 27 and the Lupron has completely taken away my endo pain!!

I took this medicine, 10 mg, for 30 days then went back to the doctor. I had absolutely no side effects so the dr. gave me a 3 month prescription. So I began taking the refilled lisinopril and within 2 weeks, I could hardly function. I got progressively more tired and had odd headache and feeling like I was sleep deprived for days. I almost wrecked my car, as I was so tired I could not think. It took me a while to figure out it was the medicine so I stopped it and the next day I felt like my old self. So I decided I would take it at bedtime but the effects still hung on during the day. Then my husband and I went out of town and he is on the same medicine only 20 mg, (he has no side effects) so I had my 10 mg and gave him 2 of them. Within 1 hour he was dizzy, lightheaded, sick to his stomach and felt awful. What is up with this? So now I am stumped. I cut one of his 20 mg in half and had no side effects at all.

This drug has been horrible for me.
Waves of rapid pulse and high blood pressure.
Waves of shakyness and anxiety.
Cold hands/feet, sometimes numb fingers.
Chronic mental fogginess and depression.
Some weight gain, slow heart rate, pulse in the 40s!
Heart missing beats.
This @ 25mg 2x daily.
I was told to not take it for 24 hours before my stress test,...
while in bed, asleep, about 4 hours after I should have taken it, I began to feel a buzzing throughout my body and noticed my heart racing. My bp was 170/105 120bpm. I took my missed dose and my heart started to slow back down in about an hour and a half.
I told my Dr and he said to double my dose. I did not!
I weaned my self very slowly down to half a dose (12.5mg 2x daily) and felt 50% better.
I tried to go off completely, at 1/3 dose, with my new Dr.s consent. I was good for two days then my bp and pulse rebounded. I am back on it, but now down to a quarter dose and mostly feel like myself :)
I was told by a cardiologist that the side effects (rebound bp and rapid pulse) can linger for up to 6 weeks.
Every other test I have taken has come back fine so far.
I am 30yo male and athletic.
I am sure this drug helps many people.
But for me it has been a 3 month nightmare.
If your story sounds like mine, hang in there, find a Dr that will listen to you and work with you.
You are not the only one.
Also, read side effects for other BetaBlockers

My daughter went on Singulair when she was 2 for a 3 month stint and had no problems with it. It is one of the meds we fall back on when colds won't "go away". We are thankful we only have mild asthma and allergies in the family. Singulair works for us (only short term) along with pulmacort when needed and albuterol. I'm sure glad some kids grow out of asthma. She is now 7 and rarely needs anything.
I was put on Advair this last spring and am going off it now after reading all the postings and having some of the symptoms - thankfully mild. I will use Singulair when needed and my fast acting inhailer.

I had a total thyroidectomy last year...long story short, after about 4 months my surgeon said the scar was turning into a keloid ( I now wish I would have just left it alone) So he recommended kenalog injections. I had 3 total over a 3 month period. After a few months the scar had severly indented & it looks horrible...when I swallow it looks like my throat is mangled inside. I hate it & I don't think there is anything I can do about it. I wish I would have been advised about the possible side effects!!! I can 't stand that people stare at my neck when I talk to them...it's very depressing. Not to be so vain, but I'm a young woman!!!

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2004. Began taking Lupron Depot in 3 month intervals for 13 months because of the advanced stage of the cancer before radiation treatment. Almost immediately, side effects occurred, to wit: hot flashes, insomnia, mood swings, aggitation, severe headaches, ringing in the ears, dizziness, muscle and joint pain--particular in the neck, shoulders, elbows, knees and ankles--anxiety and panic attacks, bewilderment, night and day sweats for no apparent reason, high blood pressure and incidents of weakness accompanied by unexplainable general feeling of being ill. Ceased taking the Lupron in fall of 2004. I am still experiencing most (not all) of the side effects. Blood tests have shown the presence of the drug in amounts higher than expected still in my body however continuing to diminish. Good luck! Being strong willed is a must to endure many of the side effects delineated here. I anticipate I have 2 or 3 more years of hell before the Lupron dissipates from my body. "And this will pass..."

i am 29 and had a laporoscopy performed and it was confirmed that i have endometriosis. my bladder was attached to my uterus and as a result of the doctors findings, he recommended a 3 month course of lupron injections(once a month). prior to surgery he informed me of the side affects that i would experience would mostly mimic that of a woman going through menopause. two days later i was miserable. i started looking online and found many women who seemed to have suffered more than benefit from the injections and the unfortunate part of all of this is, i feel like im stuck with these chemicals running through my veins for potentially longer than i was ready to commit to. unlike most, my pain was bearable. with four advil on the first day of my period when cramps were the worst i would be fine. i would much rather endure that type of pain than the side effects of lupron. bone density loss, potentially permanent joint pain and all the other scary side effects that i've read from other women far outweighs the menstral cramps i would get once a month for a few hours. i understand that lupron not only helps with pain but helps decrease the aggressiveness of endometriosis in some women. but quite honestly, if i've lived for 29 years fairly normal, i'd much rather get on the pill and schedule for another laporoscopy in another 29 years and laser off what ever build up i get a that time!

I had been on Yasmine for about a year, I decided to take a 3 month break from the pill. When I went back on it about half way through the pack I got hit with a bad kidney infection. After being sick for about a month I stopped taking the Yasmine because the antibiotics were taking away from its effectivness anyway. It took about a month and a half for the kidney infection to go away. I started back up again and now here I am half way through the pack and having kidney pains again. Im not sure, but it seems like there is a correlation. Anyone else had this problem?

My 3 month old daughter was prescribed Omnicef for bronchiolitis. She did develop a yeast infection on her diaper area on about day 3. She has had mild diarrhea since beginning the medicine, which I expected with an antibiotic. On day 5, today, she had an episode of rust colored diarrhea, I decided to wait and look on the internet before calling the doctor since she is her regular happy self and it does not appear to be bloody. This site has been very helpful.

Hi Everyone,

I was on the web trying to investigate birth control pills and came across this website. I am comforted to know that I am not the only person experiencing such problems with Yasmin, and I extend my sympathies to everyone.

I had been taking Depo Provera on and off for 5 years and my doctor's suggested I switch methods due to the bone loss associated with Depo. Since I've always had problems with my skin, they recommended Yasmin, so I started Yasmin in early December. At first it seemed fine and I had mild nausea, which I was told was normal. Then about 1.5 months into my medicine I started getting these horrendous headaches that just incapacitated me. I tried everything to get rid of them: I took Tylenol and Aspirin simultaneously, I added caffiene to my diet, stopped caffiene, tried to get more sleep, and exercise more and NOTHING made them go away. They started as throbbing when I woke up in the morning and progressed to full blown migrane by 11:00am, which made it almost impossible to work. I was so dizzy and foggy when I would drive I was certain I was going to have an accident. Some days I would get home from work at 5:30pm and go straight to bed it hurt so bad.

So I went to my doctor for my 3 month checkup and he insisted that I stop immediately because he was afraid I would have a stroke. I have now been off of it for one week and I feel 100% better. Not a single headache.

Have others of you been on other forms of birth control pills and had similar problems? My doctor said I am sensitive to the hormones in the Pill, so I will have this problem with all pills. Is this true? If so, what other options are there for contraceptives?

Thank you for your help!!

twogirlsmom & Others-

Thanks for your reply. I wish I could take an antidepressant but the last time I did I spent an entire day with severe suicidal thoughts. It was horrific. It also made me feel soooo sick. It was Zoloft. The doc then wanted me to wait a week and try Wellbutrin or Sarafem but I declined both. After my Zoloft experience I am terrified of antidepressants. I have taken Xanax before with moderate success so I may ask for that again.

Yesterday morning I was in such panic mode I didn't think I was going to make it through the day. By late evening I came back around a little and felt better; however here we go again this morning. My heart is beating out of my chest and I can feel the fear rising.

I called my RE's office yesterday and spoke to the nurse and told her of my panic problems and bcps. She asked which ones I had taken in the past so I gave her my laundry list of meds. She then offered up some mini pills or the patch etc to which I kindly declined and burst into tears. I feel like nobody understands why I am feeling this way and that I just need to never take bcps again. The nurse set up and appt with my RE to discuss other options such as an IUD, tubal ligation (I am not open to that option though our family is complete).

Another thing that I have noticed in reading these latest posts is there seems to be some relation with symptoms turning bad around the 3 month mark; like the anxiety appears around that time. I know it's not like that for everyone but i can see a bit of a pattern forming. I am on month 3 myself and ready to burn this pack. I am done with Yasmin & the rest of them.

Denise

Hello.

I posted yesterday explaining how bad my depression has gotten lately. Like i said i started it a little less than 3 months ago and since then i've been extremely emotional and constantly down for no reason what-so-ever. At first I didn't want to think that yasmin was the cause, but yesterday after reading this board, and thinking about it, it became so obvious that its the pill.

I figured I would talk about it with my gyno at my 3 month check up appointment, but i didn't want to have to wait another few weeks living in this hell. So, I stopped taking it yesterday.

I know that a lot of you have gone through similar things and decided to stop taking it. But my question to you is did I make the right decision and how long until I feel back to normal..?

I have been taking Yasmin for about 6-7 months due to abnormally long periods after the birth of my second baby at age 37. I also have a tumor in my uterus that might be causing painful intercourse, so the Dr. said to take it for three months straight and then have a period. In the meantime I have noticed severe sotmach cramps and diarriha (how ever you spell it) since October. Funny thing was that the first round I was suppose to take 2 months of Yasmin and at the end of the second month have a period, then do 3 months and have a period, but I noticed that on the 2nd month after I had my period (which I acutally stopped taking Yasmin since the white pill is only a placebo) and then started back on the next round of the 3 month cycle I started having real bad stomach cramps, etc. I am about to have my 2nd period of the 3 month cycle and I won't take the placebo and see if my stomach feels better. If it does, then I am stopping Yasmin. Another note, I take Yasmin at night and wake up at 1 am and 4 am like clockwork with stomach pain. I will keep everyone posted after the "placebo" period to see if my stomach gets better. I anyone has any similar symptoms, please let me kow. Tammy.
