Has anyone experienced difficulty swallowing solid foods? My son has been on it for 2-3 years and this issue has just developed. NOt sure if it has to do with the Singulair or not. He's had an Upper GI and no physical problems show up. He is 11 years old and the allergist says the mood swings are due to his age, not the medicine. He has been really down and cries at the strangest things.

I've had 3 Kenalog injections- one each Spring for the past 3 years for severe allergies. The injections cleared up my allergies almost immediately, and lasted the whole year. The first two years I did not have any side effects, however the third year I got a large dimple in my skin at the injection site, and it is discolored (lighter than the rest of my skin). The dimple seems to have gotten larger over the last several months since the time of the injection (March). It is approx. 2 inches wide and looks like a large scar.

Hi everyone....I wish I would have done my homework on Femcon before I started taking it. I have not had a period since my son was born....almost 3 years ago! My ob-gyn thought something was wrong with me and did every test known to man but everything came back normal. She prescribed Femcon to "help" regulate my period. I came on my period in the middle of taking my second week. I have been on my period, heavily, for the past 9 days! I want to pull my hair out! I am constantly cramping and bloated to no end! Not to mention my husband is getting irritated because we have not had sex in almost three weeks(he was out of town on business for two weeks)! I am going to call my ob-gyn today to see if she can prescribe a different birth control pill because if this is what it takes to regulate my period, I would have been fine not having one!

I am 38 years old and was on Yasmin for 3 years to control ovarian cysts that kept bursting. It kept good control of my acne, but I had no sex drive, horrible facial hair, no vaginal lubrication, and extreme pain during sex especially climax. Finally, 2.5 years ago, I suffered from right-side paralysis which ended up sending me to the hospital. My potassium levels were so low that my I was suffering from neuorlogical problems that they initially thought I was having a stroke at the hospital. Taking potassium did not keep my potassium levels up while still taking Yasmin, so I finally went off it. The literature does mention that one may suffer from low potassium, but even tkaing supplements did not allow me to keep my potassium levels up enough. I am getting an IUD put in place on Thursday and hopefully this will take its place well enough!

OK- after reading some of these posts- I have to share......I have been on NuvaRing for 3+ years now. It has worked wonderful for me until 3 months ago. I was told by my GYN that I could use it for 3 weeks and then take it out and immediately put another in to not have a period....I loved that idea. I spotted the whold first month. The second month 1 started 2 days before I was supposed to replace the ring. And this month I started 3 days before I was supposed to replace it. I think I am going to go back to 3 weeks- take it out for 1 week (have my period :( ) and then replace it after. I had no issues before this.
I also have Factor V- which my doctor said actually may be the best type of hormones for me because it is a low dose and constant. However, since I switched up the routine, I have had pains in my legs, and cramping, spotting. (MY SKIN HAS BEEN AWESOME THOUGH)
Just thought I would share.

I have had severe asthma since I was 3 years old (25 now). I have been on about every asthma med and for the past 5 years have been on advair. For 5 years I have had chronic hives that can only be controlled by zyrtec and if I try to go off adviar it will put me in the hospital within a week. I have developed a dependency to this awful drug....and now I can't get off of it. I have experienced weight gain and have to eat a very script diet so that I don't become fat. If you have just started this drug I suggest to get off of it ASAP.

I have been reading all of these posts and have another question. I hope that someone can help. My daughter, 8 years old, has been on Singulair since she was 4. She is normally a very happy girl with a wonderful disposition. For the last year or so, she has been having trouble getting herself to sleep at night. She says that she hears things in her head such as ringing or "noises". A few hours before she knows it's bedtime, she cries and when we ask her why she's crying, she can't give us a reason. We initially thought that she was crying for no reason because she didn't want to go to sleep. I remember reading about the side effects of Singulair causing mood swings, etc., but her's are not violent mood swings. Just very emotional and has a hard time coming down from the "episode". I'm at a loss...I have not talked to her doctor yet about it, but have told her that we will make an appointment this week to discuss it with him. My husband suggested that maybe it sounded like she was having a panic attack or anxiety attack. I hate to label her as that at such a young age. My mind now goes back to the side effects of Singulair and maybe this is to blame. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Concerned Mom

I have been taking Topomax for migraines for about 3 years now. Staying at the 75mg at night dosage. Going to 100mg just does not work for me. GI disturbances too severe. Diarrhea mostly. Early on same as a lot of the other reports, tingling in hands, bad tasting soda, some hair loss, and intermittent upset stomach and diarrhea. Memory not as good as without the med and balance a little off. All of these have diminished in intensity and frequency. Up side, weekly headaches that forced me to go to bed gone. Being an irritable wretch because my head hurt, was about to begin to hurt, or just got over hurting gone. At this point in my life the pros still outweigh the cons and as long as that is true I will continue with the regimine.

I have had a wonderful experience with this medication. I have been on it for over 3 years at 75mg a day taken in the am. I have a few minor issues with going to the bathroom but by 9am I am feeling fine. I have been on many other depression meds and they all had terrible side effects, but with effexor I have had no issues. I am thankful to be on this medication and not so depressed all of the time. It also has helped with my GAD.

I am very glad I found this site. I have been taking Prilosec OTC for 3 years now and it took care of my acid reflux. I woke up 6 months ago feeling like my "funny bone" got hit but never subsided. I then learned it was possibly my ulna nerve. Burning sensation in my left pinky finger and half my ring finger. Anyone experienced this? I switched to a generic Omeprazole at Walgreens a couple of weeks ago and I have experienced the most excruciating sharp, shooting pain in my neck, shoulders and lower back and sometimes other joint areas. Anyone experience this with the generic brand? I am going off of it and see what happens. The pain is intense!!! Thanks for this site!

Weaning off Lexapro for about 2 months now after taking it for 3 years. Went to every other day with a full pill, now down to every other day with 1/2 pill. I have experienced several unpleasant side effects. Most unusual, my breasts are very sore and barely touching them is painful. Anyone else experiencing this problem as well? How long will this last? Please let me know that I'm not the only one, I haven't read about this side effect.

I have asthma that was not controlled. I coughed and wheezed constantly. I had trouble eating, because even the food passing through the esophagus was enough to cause an attack. I was in and out of the emergency room for years, and the Ambulance folks knew to arrive with epinephrine when I'd call.

I started taking Singulair sometime around 1998. I haven't had any serious problems since then with asthma, and have had ZERO side effects.

Every drug has side effects for some people. For me, Claritin causes my heart to race. I can take that or that purple circurlar inhaler thing. I had a terrible reaction to that.

For ME, Singulair works. I am not sure it should be given to children if they are having severe problems. But it certainly should NOT be removed from the market...because people like me needed it to control their asthma.

Oh! And Furthermore, Lest I forget to register MY formal COMPLAINTS about Yasmin...
i was a healthy 160 pounds when i started taking Yasmin 6 years ago (about) I now weigh about 218. 60 pounds in 6 years for me =( I attribute some of that to Yasmin...
also~ signature heart palpitations, depression, moodiness. exhaustion crept up on me over time, worrying about everything, being tired but not being able to sleep, (these all contributed to my lask of ability to exercise overly much....palpitations during exertion are very scary....
horrible overall experience. Just got off, going back to condoms as a 31
year old woman! (tells you how bad the pills are) Will never take ANY pills ever again in my life and really think these pills should be taken off the market. in this site alone you will find over 4000 threads on the topic of bad Yasmin side effects....google it and Im sure you will find tons more, Get off this pill if you value your heart and your hair! and spread the word.... I wish you all the best and pray this isn't something even worse than we realize, or that the damage is not irreparable. =(

So I got on NuvaRing because I needed something with low hormones that wouldn't make me crazy like other BC's. I've been on it for almost 3 years now and didn't start having problems until recently. Now I get night sweats... i wake up and i am soaking wet from sweat, depressed, cry and get angry for no reason. Like the other night I was in the middle of eating dinner and i just started balling uncontrollably for no reason. My sex drive really hasn't decreased all that much it's still there; but i have discharge like there is no tomorrow and sometimes it smells. I figured if i douched that would help the situation but apparently not. I also haven't had a "period" in like 4 months and i'm not pregnant. I say "period" because NuvaRing doesn't allow your ovaries to ovulate so it's not really a period but withdrawal blood because your not shedding any uterine lining.I also recently have had bad migraines... thinking that having my wisdom teeth finally removed would take care of that issue but it's been 3 months since that and the answer is no. I have no energy to do anything all i want to do is sleep but i hate sleeping because i wake up soaking wet from sweat. It bothers me when my husband and I have sex and hurts. I also can not go a day without taking pepto; my stomach hurts even if i drink water. don't get me wrong i love the fact that i've lost weight but not because my stomach hurts too much to eat. I know if your looking for something to help you pin point what it is i'm sorry that you're not getting it from me. But I can tell you this after a while you get tired of it. I am going to talk to my gyno to see what my other options are. I can't take it any longer and neither can my husband. I have never PMSed as bad as I have been lately. If you're experiencing any of these I would recommend you call your gyno/dr and let them know; there could be something better for you out there. Sometimes I wonder why we woman put our bodies through these things. If all else fails looks like we'll just be going back to the old school days of condoms and spermicide lube. i'll post in a few days after my gyno apt to let you know what she said about my symptoms... but you'll know when you've had enough.

I hope this helps someone.

I was never allergic to anything in my life until I went around this cat at the age of 33. I sneezed and got a really scratchy throat. I thought it would go away, but it turned into a cold. I thought the cold would go away, but it turned into bronchitis and then pneumonia. I was jogging everyday at the time and realized something was wrong when I couldn't finish my run.

I was hospitalized for two days and upon discharge I was stocked up with a cocktail of drugs: Singular, Advair, Albuterol inhaler, and Claritin. Needless to say, I took them all, because I was scared of dying. Thank God I'm not a good medicine taker, because I missed many doses and only took them as needed. I think this is why after 3 years I have only started to see the effects of these meds in the last 8 months.

Okay... I have major joint stiffness(all over) especially neck and fingers, heart palpitations, nervousness, short patience, horrible memory, lack of motivation. Oh my God! The weight gain...Please!

Before this, I was completely healthy. After reading this I will reduce myself to my inhaler and Claritin. I notice they are cool. Otherwise, if I keep my stress level down my breathing does really well. It would probably help if I got rid of the cat. Shhhh...Don't tell anyone. LOL.

I have since put my self on a juice fast using a high powered juicer to cleanse my system of all the trash the doctors gave me.

God bless you all and I speak life and breath into each of our lives.

Hi All - I have been off prednisone for one week and I am not doing as well as I thought I would be at this stage. My symptoms are not flaring, which is a very good thing but I am so tired and feeling very depressed and low energy. I thought I'd feel great once I was off the evil prednisone but so far I am feeling almost as bad as when I was on it. My moon face has not started to go away, which sucks, but I guess I have to be patient. I am so tired of this situation as it feels never ending. Part of the problem is I have continued to work throughout my ordeal, and it's been very hard at times to carry on like a normal person who is not sick. I have been sick since last November (with an autoimmune disorder) and I had really hoped by this time that I'd be on my way to being better :( Prednisone saved my life but the side effects are horrendous, as are the after affects of it. Good luck to all who are taking it. I share your pain and frustration.

I am a parent of a 14 year old son. He has been on many meds due to having migraines, adhd, seizures, and asthma. For 3 years his ADHD meds have been switched. Now Thanks to a friend she told me about singular side effects. OH MY GOD. it blows my mind reading this stuff. He has been on singular for 3 years and never once did I think all these problems were caused by that drug. Flipping out over the smallest things, arguing with us his parents, his friends, being mean to us and a real smartass, depression, and MAJOR attitude. Getting upset over nothing at all then crying for no reason What was his Dr. thinking? Needless to say, I took the singular while she was telling me this stuff about her own son, and threw them away, I will never allow my son to take that shit again. I hope in three days like all of you say, that my son will be that loving, caring, friendly person he use to be ! Singular free is how he will be!!

I have 2 sons with asthma that have both been taken singulair (the oldest for 3 years & his brother for 2). My younger son's asthma got alot better since he was diagnosed & he was recently taken off Singulair thanks also to my husband hearing a report about the moodiness caused. When he was on it he would cry for no reason, get very irrational & seemed to think the world was against him. In just 2 weeks he is happy & cheerful and has told me he thinks it is due to being off singulair. His older brother's asthma has gotten worse over the years & I'm concerned about taking him off but he too has crazy moods. Just tonight he started a new soccer team & got crazy & suddenly didn't even want to participate in something he loves (wanted me to let him quit right then) until we argued enough he reluctantly participated. He then came home complained of a headache (which is also way too frequent) and now has been asleep for hours. Are there any alternatives to this drug? I'm a stressed out mom that doesn't deal well with these mood swings. He is normally a social butterfly & a sweet kid but lately seems more withdrawn, more irritable (especially tonight) & complaining about leg cramps in addition to these frequent headaches. I can't deal with too many more of these evenings & wonder if all these things are possible side effects. I'm glad to see my other son doing well but miss his normally sweet brother! Even his siblings think he is acting crazy :(

have been on diovan for about 3 years. taking 80 mg. twice a day. have gained weight. then in oct. 2007, my doctor upped my dose to an extra 40 mg. i had noticed side effects when i first started the diovan, such as back pain, dizziness, weight gain, diarrhea. then when my dose was increased, i now have knee pain, muscle pain all over, weakness in legs, more fatigue, no energy. i have to force myself to do what i need to do, because my body is so tired. the thing that scares me the most is the weakness. not just feeling tired, but muscle weakness. has anyone experienced muscle weakness while on diovan?
thanks for any response.

Hi,
I am 50 years old. I was diagnosed with as hypo at age 39. My doctor prescribed Synthroid at 25mcg and I have (proudly-ha!) worked my way up to 125mcg. I was always one of the "lucky ones" who could eat any and everything and my weight stayed the same. I am a busy mom of two and a first grade teacher, so the 33 lbs. I have gained since age 39 has not been due to diet changes or sitting around with a bag of chips in front of a TV all day. I also questioned my doctor about this and he just brushed it off. Well, I am tired of not feeling good about myself. My life is in good order except for my weight. I want someone to take this seriously. Should I see a specialist rather than my regular internist?
Wow! I think I just lost a little weight telling you great people about this!

Let me just start out by saying that I am so glad that I found this website!!!

I am 22 years old and have a 3 year old daughter. After giving birth to my daughter, I opted for the Mirena as my choice of birth control because of how convenient it was. I have never been good with remembering to take a pill everyday, so this seemed like the perfect option for me.

When I went in to get the IUD inserted it hurt like hell. The months to follow were not very pretty either. I experienced cramping, general pain in the abdomen and irregular bleeding. My doctor assured me that many women experience the same side effects the first few months, and that the pain and bleeding would eventually get better. It did...but the other side effects didn't.

For the past three years, I have attributed the following side effects to the changing lifestyle of becoming a mommy and a very hectic and stressful career. I have experienced severe lethargy and fatigue(even after getting a good night's sleep and sometimes a nap), decreased lebido(again, I am only 22 years old!), nausea after intercourse, feelings of being constantly bloated, 20 lb weight gain(after the baby was born!), irritability, feelings of being angry for no reason at all, measurable hair loss, extremely dry skin, facial and all over body acne(I have NEVER had a problem with acne until the past year). Honestly for the the past 3 years and especially int he past year, I just feel like crap. Almost like I felt when I was pregnant! I can't tell you how much money I have wasted on pregnancy tests in the last 3 years, because I have not had a period and I know that at 22 years old I should not feel like I am 60!

My husband told me not to have the IUD inserted, and he has been begging me to have it removed ever since then. After reading the blogs on this website I realize that my husband is right(darn!).
I am making an appointment immediately to have this thing removed. I am hoping that I will soon be feeling like my old self again. Good luck to everyone who has had this damn thing inserted. It is definitely not for everybody!!
