I have had no bad side effects whatsoever with Armour Thyroid. I was diagnosed 6 years ago with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (before I became symptomatic, actually, it was dumb luck that my neurologist sent me to the endocrinologist for a slightly off T4 level.)

I was started on Levoxyl (sp?) which gave me a headache every single day at the exact same time, exactly 9 hours after taking the pill. Then I was given Synthroid at too high a level and had rare side effects which subsided when I went down.

However, a couple years later I became symptomatic for Hashimoto's and although my endocrinologist swore up and down that no one should take Armour Thyroid, I had read otherwise, and had asked about it an an online women's forum. 9 out of 10 women on the forum said they did much better on the Armour Thyroid, and my new wholistic physician said, "Interesting, those are the same statistics I have in my office."

All my Hashimoto's symptoms went away within 6 months after starting Armour Thyroid and I've had no problems in years.

Hello... I started taking Levothyroxine last July for slight hypothyroidism. I felt great for the first 6-7 months, but then in January the problems started for me. I was getting severe anxiety which the doctor said was stress and he also thought I was depressed. I knew I wasn't, but he put me on Ativan and Prozac. The week I took prozac was the worst week of my life. I thought the effects I had were from the prozac, but now I know now it was my thyroid spiking, which the doctor never checked my levels during this period. My heart rate doubled, I had insomnia, was gagging, sick, felt like my body was on speed and wanted to die. I was prescribed a beta blocker for my anxiety previously which I had never taken, but decided to take when my heart was racing, which helped me feel a bit better for the week, but I knew something was wrong. I had this happen again recently for about a week (and I was on nothing but levothyroxine). I know what anxiety is and I have never had anxiety or depression my whole life until these episodes that happen when taking this medication. By the time I went to the doctor to get labs done, I had been feeling a bit better and he said my levels were fine. I am now wondering if it's side effects from the meds or if it is spikes in my levels making me hyperthyroid instead. All I know is that I cannot live like this!! I have a 3 yr old and I need to be happy and healthy like I used to be before this medication... no more heart racing, racing thoughts, anxiety, and insomnia. Please help!!

UPDATE: Its me again with another Update, I just feel the need to keep updating you, because just as me and my sister keep reading everyones update, Im assuming everyone wants to hear my sisters update also.

So its Day 14 today and what can I say, the difference in my sister is absolutely REMARKABLE, she said for the last 2 days she feels absolutely fantastic, she feels ALMOST NORMAL again (whatever normal is LOL ) She cannot believe it, she is over the moon and was saying to me this morning that she didn't realize how SICK SHE REALLY WAS, she got used to be so sick that it had become the norm. She wanted me to tell you all, that day 10 and 11 were really weird like this big crash kind of thing but even though she crashed she said it still wasnt as bad as when she had the IUD in. She cleaned her whole house, cooked dinner, went out, played with the kids and she felt so great and didn't even feel tired. Her joint pains, back pains, rash on foot have all gone away, her head finally cleared and she said that fuzzy confused headache feeling is SO GONE. All in all she said she rates herself a 9 out of 10 !! Isn't that fantastic !! I will keep you all updated. Hang in there everyone YOU WILL GET BETTER, YOU REALLY WILL and you will get your life back. God bless you all.

I took 500mg per day for 9 out of 10 days. On the morning of the 9th day I hopped out of bed but was SHOCKED by the amount of pain I had in my feet! I could barely put my weight on my feet or walk! It was like I was 85 years old!
I stopped taking it immediately but the symptoms continued to get worse over the next 5 days. By the 5th day I had pain in my feet, knees, hands, neck, back and shoulders! I went to the doctor; they refused to believe it was a reaction to the medication so the did blood work. I tested negative for rhematoid arthritis, Lyme disease or any other auto-immune disease. THANK GOD! The doctor still wont say it was the medication. He said it was caused by a "virus" . ya right - whatever! I didn't want to take anything for the pain so I started going to the gym 2x a day,( AM &PM) to sit in the hot tub and steam room. I also drank tons of water to flush my system. I at only foods that are known to be anti-inflammatory such as red grapes, 100% red grape juice, tuna fish, sardines, pineabble, soy milk, flax seet. I also took 1000mg of omega 3 fish oil capsules (iceland health brand) a multi vitamin (geritol brand) extra calcium with extra Vitamin D, and I switched from coffee to green tea. I drank about six cups a day in addition to about 8 glasses of water. I also gave up all foods suspected of causing inflammation such as meat, processed foods, and sugars. I also (for the first time) went to a one hour reiki session with a woman who was excellent. After about a week the pain in gone almost completely, except my feet still hurt a little bit in the morning untili they loosen up. I highly recommend trying this to see if it helps aleviate your symptoms of muscle and joint pain. Good luck.

ok i have done weeks of research online this pill seems to have an effect on our adrenal glands that produce our hormones if you research adrenal gland you will get answers to all of your questions this pill is dangerous and i cant believe how we all put ourselves in such medical ruin. its almost similar to addisons disease im not sure because i am not a doctor but this pill and our side effects are real and none of us know for sure how dangerous because 9 out of 10 doctors wont diagnose us properly, this is very scary because if you read on this site even women who have been off of this a year or more arent 100% so what will our future bring? we have to take a stand and do something. lets not just be victims!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I had been taking OVCON35 for 6 months now. As with most horomonal birth control, I experiencED very bothersome side effects. I tried to continue taking them to give my body time to adjust, but.... I've called it quits because 6 months/ 6 packs of pills is ample time. I'd have intense migraines accompanied by nausea & dizziness. Had I visited this site earlier, I woulda have been given up on this product. It's not good that 9 out of 10 responses are negative. Pass the news along- I definitely will.

I have chronic pancreatitus and I'm looking into haveing a Medtronic Inrathecal Drug Pump implanted. This pump would despense medication to block pain. The drug used is Depakote, in small doses from what I'm told. Just the side effects listed here are making me think twice about the drug. I have had one dose in the form of a shot in my back, a low dose and it did take the chronic pain from a 9 out of 10 to a 3 out of 10 for about 4 days. This has been the most pain free days I have had in over 2 years. I'm looking at learning more about the side effects anyone has had with a low dose of the drug and if you become addicted to it.
Thanks.
