Due to chest infection I was on bottle after bottle of prednisone for 3 months.
I had the nerves of full blown menopause with no relief!! Thank god for a caring family. They could have walked out, no one could have blamed them. Anyway, I went on vacation for one week 9 months later, and came home with my 5th, yes 5th bladder infection, Dr. put a test strip, and low and behold...I have diabetics and (my number was 495 a1c was 10+), steroid induced he told me. 2 years later I do not eat sugar at all, (numbers are 120+ aic is still 7.5+) I still have diabetics and cataract in right eye. No one in my family has it, just me. Better make sure the cure for one is worth a lifelong battle with the other. There must be a better way to fix lung infections!!! I also had a heart attack since then, don't know when it just showed up on my last physical, I was clear on the physical prior to chest infection. I now have a DNR tatto on my right wrist...I don't have insurance and I'll be damned if the medical profession ends up with what little I have to leave to my family. As I said, make sure the cure is worth what it may cost you!!!

I have been taking 100 units of Lantus at night for the past 4 months. I have gained 25 pounds, my legs and feet are swelled up, my joints in my fingers hurt, my right shoulder hurts like it has been injured but it hasn't, I have days where I can sleep all day and then sleep all night without a problem, my A1C is 9.1, I have the most painful cramps in my calves and feet, I feel like I am 100 years old and I am only 42.
Houston we have a problem.

I am a type 1 diabetic and was put on the Lisinopril over a year and a half ago, maybe 2 years. I have my hair coming out when I shampoo and the red patchy skin on my lower legs which is dry making it embarrassing to wear shorts or capris. It makes me feel ashamed. I have laid off both the Lisinopril and HCTZ for a few days now. I got blurry vision, and I think it has made me gain weight. I get the swelling of the angles by this or both meds. Before taking these, I didn't have the swelling. I liked reading through the replys here on this medicine or both. I tried to identify some replies with myself and what I am experiencing. I want to get off this crap and take something else if at all "Alternative" at best. I did take atenylol (sp)? before. If anyone wants to contact me, they can e-mail me at ****** because, I would like to see what others are doing differently now to take care of the situation I am going through.

My doctor added Lantus to my medicine regimen including Byetta 10, Metformin 1500 twice a day. On the Byetta I lost 35-40 lbs very easily. The moment I added the Lantus I was bloated and over a 2 months I had gained back all the weight I had just lost. When I asked my Doctor about the bloating and weight gain she said she didn't think it had anything to do with the Lantus. But I was losing weight until she added the Lantus! I don't think that's just a coincidence. What should I do? Should I go to a doctor who specializes in diabetes instead of my family doctor who I love dearly?

I've been on Lantus for about a year now and never tied things together till reading this. Ive had horrendously blurred vision though the eye doc says my prescription hasn't changed. I have bad bad backaches, and though my A1C is right at 6....my morning blood sugars run 130 to 185. At no other time of day is my blood sugar over 110. I don't understand this. WHY would a bedtime blood sugar be 75-90 at 9 pm.......and at 3am is over 140? Its like the Lantus does nothing. I just don't like the side effects with this stuff.

I was put on Lipitor for borderline high cholesterol. I don't remember the dose. I have Type II diabetes. My A1c was controlled at between 6.5% and 6.9%. Except for the first three months of being diagnosed with DM II, my A1c was always under 7%. 3 months after starting lipitor (6 years after being diagnosed)my after meal glucose level was over 300 and sometimes over 400 whether I ate carbs or not. My A1c went over 8%. My diabetes meds were changed because my doctor had not heard of such an effect and didn't believe that it was the lipitor. So I took it for three more months. A1c still over 8%. I found a few studies on medline that say that a small population of people lose glycemic control when on atorvastatin. I told this to my doctor and told them that I refused to take it any more. They put in my chart that I stopped taking it against medical advice. My A1C was 7.2% within three months. Please make sure that if you are taking lipitor, have your blood sugar checked once in a while.

I've been taking Januvia for 8 weeks, and have experienced muscle cramps with shock-like pain running down my leg into my heel; upper and lower GI spasms; night sweats with sleep interruption; and I gained 5 pounds in the first 4 weeks which I can't attribute to anything else. I've also taking metformin and glyset for several years, and although I've experienced the night sweats, they've greatly increased in intensity.

I started with 40 mgs for 3 days, then 20mgs for 4 days, then 10 mgs for 4 days then none.
That was between 5/1/06 and 5/11/06. How long should it take the Prednisone to clear my system. As of 6/13/06 my sugars are 170 in the morning and 205 at dinner time. I'm on insulin 70/30 Novapen. morning 15 units and before dinner 17 units (It was just raised 3 units because of my high numbers.
My A1C prior to me taking the Prednisone was 6.0.
Please advice.

I'm a 65 year old type 2 diabetic with low-functioning thyroid. I was put on lisinopril over a year ago to prevent kidney problems. I have been on 10 mg tablets. Even before I was diagnosed with diabetes I had low blood pressure so that was not a problem.
My main side effects are hair loss, coughing, insomnia and leg cramps, joint pain. I think the lisinopril is pulling nutrients from my body. I told my family doctor about the side effects I had found but he seemed more concerned about the possibility of kidney problems than any of the side effects. I know my hair loss is not age related as both of my parents had full heads of hair when they died and my mother was also a type 2 diabetic.
My blood sugar is under control, tests usually 85-90 twice a day, last A1c was 5.5 which is quite good. I take Byetta and metformin twice a day, levothyroxine, enablex. I recently started taking magnesium as it was besides calcium plus D, a multivitamin all ordered by the doctor. I also take crestor. Feels like all I do is take pills!
My weight is 166 but I'm short, 4' 10", so still heavier than I should be for my height. I try to get exercise but have degenerative arthritis in lower spine. Funny that I developed bursitis in my right hip recently, I just thought the arthritis was spreading. Now I'm not so sure it might not be due to the lisinopril also. I stopped using it yesterday so we'll see how long it takes my body to recover from this drug.
Does anyone have any experience with how long it takes to stop coughing or for the hair to regrow after quitting lisinopril?
