I started coumadin 2 weeks ago, for a clot in my leg. I'm dizzy and lightheaded. I guess I'll be on it for at least 3 months. I've had abdominal surgery and a wrist fracture repaired surgically in the last 6 months and have had breast cancer (surgery, chemo, radiation) 4 years ago. I'm on Arimidex now. All of this is to explain possible underlying causes which I am investigating.

Dizziness seems to occur within an hour of my taking it - in the morning, but subsides by the afternoon. I'm thinking of switching the time I take it to the night - before I go to bed - maybe I can be dizzy in my sleep then and wake up with some sense of normalcy. Any comments?

I am 49 and following abdominal surgery developed a PE (I have a history of DVTs post orthopaedic surgery). I am now on Warfarin for life. I have not had too many side effects, the odd dizzy spell and very tired, but I have now been told that blood tests relating to my liver function are outside the normal ranges and that this is one of the side effects of Warfarin. Can anyone enlighten me as to the implications of this and what they have done to avoid this or stop it getting any worse? Thanks

I had abdominal surgery without knoweledge of a clotting disorder and ended up with portal vein thrombosis. Ive been on coumadin for 2 months and despite the fact that I eat healthy and consistently, and am extremely fitness-oriented, this medicine has been just awful. I'm making my way down the list of side-effects!
nausea, abdominal cramping, fever, chills, spontaneous numbness in fingers and toes, purple discoloration in skin, fatigue and weakness, reflux, vomiting blood which landed me in the hospital for 3 days, a red rash all over the face, blurred vision and horribly dry eyes, slight jaundice, memory lapse, difficulty focusing.....and hair loss.
i really though I was making this all up in my mind so I am so relieved to see I'm not imagining these symptoms!

Just about everything and anything imaginable.
Severe Joint Pain - throughout entire body.
Swelling in Feet - equallying twice the size
Swelling in hips
Already have Osteroporosis but have recently had
3 broken ribs - 2 had healed and then broke again
Extreme fatigue
Bottom of feet feel like pins and needles and as is both
of them are on fire
Loss of Hair
AND had these shots nearly a year ago.
Now using a cane and homebound most of the time
I have Crohn's and was taking Pred at that time now
they are taking me off the pred, after 19 years of straight
use and now administering a Chemo Drug called 6-MP
or spelled out it is called Mercaptopurine - 50 mg tabs once
a day - making me very sick. Anyone been on this Chemo
Drug or have Crohn's? The shots were for scar tissue build
up after abdominal surgery - It is almost a year now and
still suffering - The pain throughout my body is so extreme
that no words can describe it. It was Kenalog and Depo
Medrol on three different occaisons.
Thanks.........
