My boyfriend was prescribed sulfameth (10 days/ 2x) for these bumps that appeared on his arms and legs and would appear anywhere that he would scratch. Within 5 minutes of taking the first dosage in the evening, his eyesight became blurry. He had a severe headache that night, chills and a high fever that lasted through the night. He took 2 ibuprofen pills but they didn't help. He couldn't get to sleep the entire night. He also became even more itchy than before he took the sulfameth. He couldn't move due to muscle pain and fatigue. His fever was still there by the time i got there at 7 in the morning and he was shaking uncontrollably. His heart rate was up. It looked to me that more bumps appeared on his body and some became a dark purple blotch, like a bruise. His fever broke around noon and stayed away for a couple of hours but it returned. His skin started to peel after his fever returned. At first i noticed it was on his nose and ear but i didn't think much of it since i didn't see it anywhere else. An hour later he texted me and said his whole body started peeling as if he had sun burn. His temperature is still slightly raised after over 24 hours.
I refused to give him the second dosage of sulfameth that morning and proceeded to call the doctor who had prescribed it. All she said was that he needed to come back in. No way in hell was i bringing him back there. She didn't even look at him for literally a minute and prescribed this crap. She said nothing of the side effects. There was no warning. Even though i looked it up before he took it, I didn't think it would be this bad.

I have been on Singulair longer than I can recall... at least 10 years, maybe longer. My 7 year old son has been on it since he was probably 12 months old. Neither one of us have had any problem reported here. No depression, no sleeplessness (until I weaned him from naps, he slept up to 13 hours a day), no leg cramps, nothing. We are two of the happiest, most well adjusted people you could know. And, best of all, we haven't had any asthma attacks. Bottom line, different drugs react differently in different people. Don't let the post here stop you from trying a medication that for some could mean the difference between life and death depending on how asthmatic they are. As with any drug recommended by your doctor, try it. If you experience adverse reactions, stop it ASAP. It's that simple.

My ADOPTED son almost 6 and was already on Singulair when he came to live with us at age 20mos.
After finding this site just over 2 weeks ago, I took him off on this stuff. Well, after about a week, things were so good that it was scary. His behavior improved so much, that everyone said he doesn't act like Jacob. I said, yes he does, we just didn't know him before going on this med.
He is currently going thru ADHD evaluation and I advised the therapist that I took him off this drug and he was like a new child. Her comment was "did we cure him"? Well, after her one on one with him, she commented, I don't know whats wrong, but he is extremely HYPER and then all hell broke loose on the way home. But, he has been fine since.
I am praying that I don't have to medicate him for ADHD, I am just not ready for that and have been fighting it for a while and then after reading all the side effects on this site, it described my child to a tee. He is in Kindergarten and is doing great academically and the therapist was a bit surprised by that with how hyer he is.
Please tell me with how long my son has been on this drug, that it's going take more than a couple of weeks. He is not near as hyper to us as he was before. Maybe he just got excited about all the toys in her office. He can also be very defiant, that is whole other issue we are dealing with. He does way better for his Dad than Me, so now if he doesn't want to listen to me, he Dad intervenes. I am hoping he will get it, that he can't be disrespectful to his Mom or he will have his Dad to deal with.
Thanks for listening and please pray that his behavior will continue to improve over the next few weeks with the absence of Singulair.

hello all, i've been reading your stories and feel i need to write mine too. i started taking Yasmin about 4 months ago. and i really do not know what to think. i haven't put any weigh on or got acne (which were my worries) and my periods got very light and completely pain-free. i did have constant but mild headaches (which i never have) and my sex drive has gone down (never had any problem before). more importantly, emotionally i am feeling terrible. i cry non-stop and i feel totally unstable. I am going through a lot of changes in my life (change career, country, new relationship, etc) so i thought i could be just that i am feeling stressed. but i think this is more than that. my anxiety has rocketed, I never felt like this before, I have racing thoughts almost constantly, panic attacks, and something that i think it's called 'depersonalization' - has anyone got anything like this? it feels like you're looking from outside yourself, if that makes any sense...not nice at all.
as I have a tendency to feel anxious anyway I really don't know whether the pill is causing this or not, but i feel i am going mad. as i read the postings i became more worried that it might be Yasmin
i went to the doctor who suggested to carry on for a few more months to see if the symptoms go away. i followed his advice (as those days i was feeling surprisingly well, and was optimistic about it) but i am still very concerned.
also, has anyone had a really bad depression/anxiety attack when taking antibiotics + yasmin? i could have killed myself that day. felt better when i stopped taking the antibiotics.
again, is it my mind...? or is it Yasmin...?
any comments would be really great

I am one of those women who spent years on Yasmin and more recently on its follow-up Yaz. I heard "low-dose" formulation and just assumed these would be the right pills for me, since I had moderate PCOS. Well it's taken me a long time to figure out that the introduction of these pills coincided with an increasing frequency and severity of mood swings and tension. Over the years the mood swings have included angry outbursts and irritability. I did like the predictable periods and absence of cramping. But that was definitely not worth the psychological and emotional suffering I've been through and put others through. I took my last Yaz pill today. I hope I get my normal life back, without the PCOS.

Wow. I'm so glad I read this. I've had the nuvaring in for exactly eight days and these have been the most trying eight days i've had in a long time. the irritibility and absence of sex drive have hit me most hard. I am stable normally and am resilient to annoyances so it had the snowball effect of lowering my self esteem because I couldn't control my emotions. Also I have a huge sex drive and I can't get aroused if I try now. I'd rather use condoms galore than wait around to "get used" to this crappy version of myself.

I have been on Yasmin about 2-1/2 years. To clear up endometriosis my dr. put me on continuous active pills for 6 mos. This is when the symptoms became strong. I had been tested for chronic fatigue and all other reasons for EXTREME FATIGUE. Four doctors said chronic fatigue has no cure and finding the reason for it is too difficult. I thought my life was over because of the absence of life energy. THen I read this websit and immediately got off Yasmin. I feel like a new person. Maybe I'll get my tubes tied instead. THank you all for sharing the symptoms - I had them all.

Started taking lisinopril in mid Feb 06. Three weeks in and I've been experiencing unusual joint and muscle pain. I called my doctor, mentioning my symptoms and he seemed surprised, saying that the cough was the only side effect he was aware of. I have joint pain in my fingers, wrists, ankles, knees, elbows, shoulders, and muscle pain in the forearms, biceps and thighs. I read the email from the guy who felt "as if I am 75 years old", and I can empathize. I feel as though I'd just returned to the gym after a years absence and overdid it! Trouble is, it 's there every day and seems to be getting worse.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i have had 2 ablations for atrial fib and flutter. i have noticed hot flashes have returned to my 64yr old body after about 8 years of absence and also migraines. since i am on 100-200mg for about 4yrs now, i don't know if it is due to the toprol or all the other medicines that i have had many symptoms. as far as weight gain, i have tried and have lost 55lbs in the last 3 years.

Took Lipitor for five weeks - in that period of time I suffered two migraines, three vaginal infections, rashes on face/fingers/buttocks, dry itchy eyes. My doctor advised me to stop and have lab work done. Lab work was normal and doctor insisted I start the Lipitor again. It's been five days and the headaches, rashes, and vaginal infection have all returned. I'm 43 years old. Anyone else with these symptoms?

Just an update on the dizziness.... I'm on the 6th day of my inactive pill week and still experiencing slight vertigo. I read here about someone's foot cramps, which reminded me of my own! In fact, I had asked my chiropractor what the problem was, and he couldn't find anything. Anyway, I talked to my midwife about my dizziness, and she said it was probably from the absence of estrogen while taking the placebo pills. Either way, I told her I am not starting another pack of pills because I'm tired of the hot flashes, the sweating and the dizziness.... even if it is only on my inactive week. I am done with this pill.

Ultracet was the best thing I have used for my lower back pain. It has given me hope of being pain free while my back heals. I know that I can get out of bed and do my daily work. I have used it on and off now for 6 months and have had no side effects, just the absence of pain.
