I have been on Atenolol for about 5 years. Thankfully, I do not experience the side effects that many are complaining about. My dosage is 75mg and I take HCTZ 25mg along with it. Recently I was put on Lisinopril and that has been an absolute nightmare. Dizziness, Headache, Dry, Spastic Cough and a Sore Tongue showing little deep slits in the front area and red.
Interesting how one drug works for someone and for another it is their worst nightmare.

I posted a question to anyone who used Tri-Sprintec before, but now it's been several months & I'd like to let everyone else know how it's worked for me! Tri-Sprintec has been the best birth control I've ever taken. I have been on other birth controls over the years, and up to this point Yasmin was good but I still had some side effects. I've just started my fourth month on Tri-Sprintec, and I feel more like myself again. I don't have any crazy mood swings, my skin has cleared up, my periods are regular again & my appetite has gone back to normal. I recommend Tri-Sprintec to anyone who is looking for an affordable & reliable birth control (it's offered at the Wal-Mart pharmacy for $9 a month if you don't have insurance.)

This is the 1st time I have ever posted anything. My 2 1/2 year old son was prescribed Singulair in conjunction with Zyrtec to help treat allergies and eczema. He has been an absolute nightmare....moody, cranky, tired all the time. He complains of leg pain and belly pain often. I never thought it could be the medication but after reading all of these posts, I think I will take him off the medication for a while and see what happens. I just assumed it was the "terrible two's". It's so hard to judge what is best for your child when their pediatrician and other well-educated doctors are telling you that these medications are safe for your child. You trust them....especially since a young child can't really express how the medication makes him feel other than by acting out, etc. I thank all of you for these postings. It helps to have information from others who are either taking the drug themselves or are going through the same experiences with their children.

I'm writing for my mother. She was on 20mg of Lisinopril and her doctor insisted her violent coughs was from her asthma. Being an asthma sufferer her whole life and knowing the difference, she insisted it was not. He told her that this drug does not cause violent coughing as she described (but later admitted otherwise). I saw her in October and then in November for Thanksgiving and it looked as though she aged ten years! She was coughing badly, throwing up from coughing so violently and was white as a ghost and was extremely tired from not getting enough rest (from coughing). Everyone in the family told her to STOP taking the medication. She stopped taking it the day after Thanksgiving. It's been about five days and she is still coughing, although it's not nearly so bad, but she's taking pain medication (Hydrocodone) and I believe this narcotic has helped to subside the coughing, plus allow her to sleep, but masked the effects of the Lisinopril. Please, anyone, that has discontinued this medication, can you tell me how long to expect this drug to be out of her body? This has been an absolute nightmare and I'm so worried about her! Please email at ******

My 6 year old son has had all of these more or less. He has been on Singulair for about 5 months. We took him off last Friday when he started having seizures. It is only now that we are connecting the things he has complained about. He is still going through testing but everytime a test is done it is negative. He is in perfect health. The dr.s are stumped. What happens is, he smells a wierd smell. Then he sees lights. After this he has a bad headache and becomes weak so he lays down. Shortly thereafter he stiffens and starts shaking his arms and legs while clinching his hands. He also grunts and makes a buzzing sound and appears as though he only breathes out. the dr.s say it is not seizures but movement disorder and if it is Singulair it should be out of his system within 3 days... He is still having the seizure type fits and its been a week since we took him off singulair. He is still losing his temper and having horrible dreams as well. Cat scan was normal, EEG was normal, blood work is ok, they want to do an MRI but does this sound familiar to anyone?

My significant other took Doxycylene, 100 mg, twice a day for two weeks to treat a swollen lymph node under his arm. During the treatment he experienced nausea, stomach pain, rash and cold sweats, nothing too bad. 3 days after the last dose everything got significantly worse. It started with sever chest pain, so bad we went to the emergency room thinking it was a heart attack or blood clot. They found nothing and discharged him. Over the next 3 weeks he started vomitting, diahrea and developed jaundice. Constant queeziness and chest pain. After numerous tests, ultra sounds, MRCP, the doctor has ruled out various hepatitas's and every other disease he could think of. He's also rulled out any kind of bile duct blockage after the MRCP. Its now been 7 weeks since all this started, my friend has dropped 40 lb's (190 down to 152) and still dropping. Our doctor (gastro interologist) has admitted he's stumped and is currently contacting a professor in Miami as a last hope. The only thing our doctor keeps comming back to is the Doxycyclene and that my friend may have had that one rare acute reaction. We're frazzled and don't know what to do next.

I have lived an absolute nightmare since a hospital ER doctor started me on Levaquin in DEC. 2005 after being treated for flu and bronchitis. I fainted 20 mintues later and he said this was due to a "vagal" response. But the next day or two on a continued 6 day dosage of this antibiotic I started having every life and eath symptom described on this board. I even allowed myself to be put on anti-depressants for the first time in my 54 years because so many doctors were just going the psych route after not being able to explain all these symptoms. But EVERYTHING, every symptom I have like the ones described here started in the first two days after I started taking the levaquin and NO OTHER MEDICINE FOR SIX DAYS. I have felt like I was going to die, I was going crazy, I couldn't walk straight, I couldn't sleep for days at a time ( this was almost making me suicidal ) my scalp and arms itched, my legs and calves are so weak and sore I can only walk for about 10 mintues and if I over do this walking my body goes into a major attack full body attack of all these other symptoms. I have had pain in my arms, wrists, hands, Hands get cold, my sensitivity to cold is just unbearable, I have had rashes, and my stomach is so torn apart that GI doctors are saying it looks like beginning Crohnes disease and I have tried so many medicines. My legs seem to getting WEAKER after 6 months! My left leg locks as I walk and drags. My appetite is gone most of the time. My sex drive is about 10% of what it was before, My eyesight even seems to be affected and I have had this weird pulsating shaking up through my left neck and into my head feeling.
I found this website and suggested to my doctors that maybe because all I took levaquin all that first week when all this started that maybe the Levaquin did all this damage and my PCP and Rhuematologist just cut me off like I was trying to bring up some JFK conspiracy theory.
I can promise you this. I am going to try to start a national organization for people who have been severly, life changing damaged, many permanently like me it appears ( I have lost my job and you can't believe the depression I know have ) I take clonazapam just to function every day! There ARE SO MANY VICTIMS OF THIS and we need to get organized. This Levaquin and maybe Cipro sounds like a killer, life ruining drug. Seriously, I called a law firm in San Francsco about this and they laughed. They said "take on the drug companies?, You have got to be kidding me. They are too wealthy and connected. Not one case in 5 years in California. But it has to start somewhere. This is a national tragedy and injustice. If we don't organize then we are just allowing ourselves to be devastatingly hurt here for no good reason except profit and greed.

my heart rate was fast and at around 90 to 120 beats per minute for a good 4 months after i got off yasmin.... no jokes it was an absolute nightmare i would be able to feel it pounding in my chest....
twice i went to hospital and both times they said it was nuthing and my job must be stressing me out... thats crap because i can deal with stress very well... actualy i work alot better under pressure...
now is my 5th month off yasmin and my heart rate has dropped to about 80-85 beats which is still kinda high but much better... normal is around 75-79 im told... although it depends on the person and how fit you are...
now i only get bad palpitatins when im ovulating and sometimes during the week leading up to my period....
dont panic i promise you it will get better its just a slow process... i found drinking lots of water helped me alot and taking big deep breaths helped open up my chest and airway....
i hope next month ill be able to say its gotten even better....
just try not to concentrate on ur heart beat all the time and whatever you do dont be like me and take your pulse a hundred times a day....ha ha ha i was bad!!!
you will be ok just hang in there
remember we are all here for you

This drug is an absolute nightmare. I have had a migraine for 1 week. Nothing has eased the pain. OB says it has nothing to do with the pil...., bloodwork normal, so I must be crazy!!!This is my 2nd try with Yasmin and I will never take it again after this pack is finished. I ws fine the 1st 3 months, but his month it has all started to kick in... weight gain, depression, fatigue, headaches, vomiting, leg cramps...My face was broken out like crazy and had to take amoxicillin for 3 months to clear it up. There are other means of BC besides this awful pill.

Mirena is an absolute NIGHTMARE. My sister had this inserted approximately 2.5 years ago and ever since then her life had gone totally down hill. She was another one that could have gotten some kind of award for the most illnesses without a cause ! Her symptoms were so severe that she was sure that she must be dying of some terminal hidden disease. Hair loss, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, headaches, bloating, weight gain, joint aches, muscle aches, vision problems, confusion and the list goes on and on. Lucky someone made the connection that it maybe from the Mirena, so we both got online and googled for days and read all these sites and posts. My sister freaked out when she saw so many of you wonderful ladies with exactly what she was going through. She got the Mirena removed first thing this morning and 12 hours later she absolutely cannot believe that for the first time in God knows how long that she hasn't got a HEADACHE. She thought she was imagining it but she wasn't her headache WAS TOTALLY GONE. Hopefully as the days go by all the other horrid symptoms will go away too. This contraption has robbed my sister of 3 good years of her life and her family's life. I just thank the Good Lord that she made the connection and got rid of this. It is a shame that pharmaceutical companies feel its ok to rob people of their health in order to make more money. Shame on them.
