A round yellow pill with "klor-con 10" printed on pill; I had trouble digesting the tablet. my potassium level would drop too low. Up to 6 to 8 pills, twice aday. Some of the pills would pass thru still intact, no wonder my potassium level was low. ATE foods in high potassium.Still low. Must have a very tough outer skin that I could not absorb. Now take Klor-con M 10,a long white pills, no tough skin, take 4 capsule twice aday along with food with high potassium and the Level is 4.2. I have CM.

I,as of almost two weeks ago, went off Yasmin. I have been on several different birth controls over the past 7 years. Yasmin being the latest. Overall, I think the pill is not healthy!!! I have had side effects from most pills I have been on, nothing major, but a definite lack in sex drive (which of course drives my husband CRAZY)...We are not planning on having kids so I do think it is imp. to find an alternative method, though I never intend to get back on any hormone related drug. My breasts have undoubtedly grown, which wasn't a bad thing @ first but now really is somewhat frustrating...going from a small C to a DD.
I guess I just miss being what I know of as my old self, and want my body to be back to normal. Recently, a woman in my building and I were talking about BCP's. She has been on them for just as long as I, and is studying to be a doctor. In her opinion, after going through 2 years of med. school thus far, BCP's are NOT a good thing. So I obviously have taken her opinion into account.
I do, however, take daily supplements, which I hope bring somewhat of a balance to my body. All I know is that being on the Pill makes it hard for your body to digest and absorb all the nutrients it should, which to me is pretty scary!!!

Hi everyone!

Here is the update I promised. As you know, I'm off Yasmin for a month now and had to go get my magnesium levels checked. I was found to have a reading of 1.8 in December, I took 800 mg of Mag. Oxide for 3 weeks and it went to 1.9. I then started taking 400 mg and my latest reading was 1.7!!! Shocking. My doctor is concerned and sending me to a kidney specialist to see if I have a rare condition that doesn't allow me to absorb magnesium. My BP continues to be controlled through medication. It will not normalize until I get this magnesium problem under control.
I told my doctor I was off Yasmin and she was fine with it. I wonder if the diuretic in Yasmin has caused this? I wonder if it's still in my system?
I'll keep you posted.

I have been suffering from severe pain and tingling in my hands and feet for over 12 months, now. Initially it was blamed on immuno-suppression drugs following my kidney transplant. When the immuno-suppression drugs were changed, the problem remained. It was then that the doctor suggested that the problem lay with Levothyroxine. However, he didn't have any suggestions to make to ease the problem.

At times, I can't touch anything or feel anything as the pain is so intense. I get hot sweats and it causes a ringing in my ears. It makes cold water feel hot to the touch. I have trouble sleeping some nights when the pain starts.

I took this drug for UTI almost 10 years ago. A few days after I started taking it, I became extremely nauseaus, losing 10kg (about 22 Lb) in 1 week. I couldn't eat, lost all my energy. Even to this day, 9 1/2 years later, I still suffer side effects from this drug. I cannot absorb vitamin B12, which has also caused pernicious anaemia, and also have anaemia, irritable bowel syndrome, constant nausea, fatigue and am highly susceptible to stomach bugs and food poisonings.
Before taking it, I was fine, perfectly healthy and never had any gastro problems.
But since taking trimeth, I have never been the same.

For those getting the shot - try this to avoid the dimple - when I got my shot in the deltoid I constantly massaged it so the medicine would absorb better and I never did get a dimple.

I was given the shot when I broke out from exposure to one of the poison plants (ivy, sumac, who knows which - am allergic to them all, even if only downwind or on my pets). It started on my hands, worked its way up my arms to my chest and neck into my face. I am scarred today because of the breakout.

Be careful though, if given the shot and pills, do not take them too closely together. My doctor did not warn me of this and I definitely felt them in my kidneys and on occasion still feel the kidney pain today although I have not had any injections or pills since. I know the combination taken too closely affected my kidneys and surely wish my doctor or pharmacist had told me about this at the time.

Hi Sherry...
I feel your pain...I recently talked with a nutrisionist who helped me lose 15 pounds. I was doing what it sounds like you are...not eating at all and trying to work out as much as I could. She told me that not eating was the worst thing you could do. Your body goes into survival mode and stores ALL the fat you do intake because you aren't feeding it! If you actually eat enough GOOD foods to be full, your body will sense that things are OK and start shedding the pounds instead of stock pilling them for later. The other suggestion she had, which worked well for me, was drink only ICE WATER with every meal. It shrinks the pores in your stomach that absorb fat (because they are so cold) and therefore, you should retain less fat. Besides, it helps you to feel full as well. WATER, WATER, WATER...I know it sounds silly when you are retaining it to begin with, but it's the same effect as not eating, the more water you drink, the less you retain. This really did work for me and I still use it as part of my daily life, I've only gained 4 pounds back after stopping this pill about 7 weeks ago and I'm praying that I can keep it at that, we'll see.
Protien bars (low carb ones with at least 20 grams of protien) for breakfast, help to speed up your metabolism, also. The other thing for me was bread products or anything with much flour in it (pasta especially). I cut them out almost totally. Made me feel so much better when they were gone! It was a VERY hard thing to give up though, I'm a bread freak!
I really hope that some of this helps. Keep your chin up....
Cristy
