I am 40 years old and was prescribed lisinopril/HCTZ 20-25 a little over two weeks ago. I went in for a little congestion and low grade fever. I am a teacher and have many kids out with the flu, swine flu, etc. and felt that I needed to get checked. I came out with 5 medications, one of which was lisinopril. I have never had bp problems in my life. I am almost certain that the nurse practicioner wrote me down for something else and the dr came in and changed. I am usually a very calm person but in the last two days have experienced what I thought was a panic attack and anxiety, horrible anxiety. I haven't been able to face my students which isn't like me at all. During the first week I took my students on a field trip and had a really great day with them- much less stress than a normal day. I got home and my bp was around 138/98. I thought that was kind of odd. It has been under control since I started taking it. On this same day, I got blistered on my face and wasn't outside much at all. I have Rosea and thought that it had been aggravated. I believe now that it was the lisinopril. I know that it has a diuretic in it, but it doesn't make me go frequently. Instead I get a sudden urge and have had two "accidents" recently. I have a sometimes dry, other times full of mucous, cough to the point of nearly gagging. My neck muscles were already stressed out and tight, but have gotten worse. I feel a tightness in my chest constently. My lips are so dry that they peel all the time. I have no appetite and when I do eat I get nauseous and almost feel like vomitting. I have been lightheaded and dizzy. I am not sleeping and feel extremely tired all the time. But these last two days have been awful. I love being around people and right now can't stand the thought of it. I am guessing that lisinopril has caused much of these problems. I am about to go see the doctor today and think they will want to put me on some sort of nerve pill. I hate that!!!! I have a plan to achieve everything that these meds are supposed to. Exercise, change my diet, go see the chiropractor, do more relaxing things for myself and take better care of me! After reading these blogs I believe that I am going to take myself off of lisinopril and see what happens. My hubby is also on it and just last week developed an oozing sore and his left cheek - could be the lisinopril. I will pray for all of you bloggers and those who are unaware. This is definitely a poison to our bodies. I think I even read that it contains snake venom. Is this true????? I will update in a few days. Good luck and God bless!

I have just started lyrica and read on different sites and its main site before i decided for myself to take it since im in constant pain from multiple accidents i have fbro- and lumbar and disc back problems etc, yo get anyway i have tried a lot of different meds for pain yo name it almost tried it, i found the best thing that worked for me was one vicodin es plus one 75mg lyrica, my pain subsides for hours by at least 50% i can actually do a lot more since i have started it and even lost four pounds since last week. I read a lot of people gain weight, get swollen feet, feel drunkish all that, the only time i feel like that is when i take the lyrica with my xxnax i have anxiety disorder as well very bad. ADHD . If i dint have to take pills believe me i wouldn't..But as all pills narcotic and narcotic they only mask the pain, my brother informed me since i can do more take it a little slow baby steps cause if you over exert your self your pain is 6 times worst.I have lost 89 pounds so far HOORAH! Just 40 more to go, baby steps..lol..anyhow i could talk all day, i try to keep a positive attitude which helps, god and prayer help, and try to walk around without a chip on my shoulder because i don't feel because if im miserable everyone else shouldn't be, ya know ..Its not rgt. Cripe if i was rich i would be waited on hand and foot but unfortunately im not rich and could never afford that unless i won and played the lotto.lol..i had to even get samples from a different doctor other than my regular doctor cause he girls were messing up in the office or Michigan State was, which lately they are changing all there systems and messing alot of low income people up, and that blows too..I will continue will lyrica...It works better than neurontin which gave me headaches, and weigh gain and nausea. I actually on neutrontin gained 10 pounds in 5 days, i quit NEURONTIN! Lyrica is really good, everyones body chemistry is different so, give it a try it might just work as good as it does for me. Thanks for listening and feel free to write me anytime here, thanks! Skully725

Has anyone noticed incontinence as a side effect in toddlers? My 3 year old has been potty trained for quite some time now but today he has wet himself 4 times. He's not had any accidents in months. This is also his third day on Omnicef. I'm hesitant to put a pull up on him because I don't want to set him back in his potty training.

I am an active 60 year old. After being checked for diabetes I was told I was borderline and chose to try by changing my diet. Three months later at my next visit UI was told I was improved but my cholesterol was far too high and prescribed 40mg Simvastatin.Between then and the nest three monthly check I had numerous symptoms. My calfs throbbed, my shoulder ached and my sex drive decreased and I was always tired. The most frightening thing of all though was my concentration. I would be riding my motorbike or driving the car and suddenly snap to and realize my mind had been wondering and my concentration gone. (Ive had numerous near accidents.)
IU read on this site about "memory loss" and wondered if this was what was happening to me. My last three month visit was last week, my cholesterol is almost normal so I am stopping the pills and seeing what happens.

This site has been a god send. I had mine placed 2 weeks ago and its been horrible. I've been telling myself that everything is going to be fine, but its hard to believe that. Getting it put in put me in tremendous pain. I could barely walk and i had to work a 10 hour shift an hour later. After 2 days the pain went away but i started to notice random bouts of depression. Ive been a totally different person, Im happy and laughing one minute and the next im in tears over nothing! What made things worse was I was starting to feel nervous and shaky on top of wanting to cry all the time. I figured it had to do with Mirena because ive felt this way once before and that was when i tried the depo shot. Within the last few days ive noticed an unusual discharge and itching. Ive been thinking it might be a yeast infection but i have never had one. Its just one more thing im contributing to Mirena. I dont want to get it removed because its nice not worrying about pills or condoms but at the same time I think Mirena is making me crazy. Reading these posts really helped me regain some of my sanity. Ive also heard from many people who used to have an IUD that as soon as they had theirs removed they got pregnant. I know to use condoms but i dont trust them, accidents happen.

I had cortisone shots in my feet yesterday and all day I have been very irritable. I am getting frustrated and angry over the stupid little accidents or things my kids do everyday. I know it is wrong to yell but I just feel so pissed off. Could this be a side effect? I had the shots about 2 months ago and I don't remember if I had this experience then or not. I can't say that I did or I would have questioned it then. I am also suffering a terrible headache and my throat feels sore (could be all that yelling). Also having a harder time concentrating.

Hello all! My 9 year old son has been taking Advair inhaler for about 1 1/2 years with 2 puffs a day. One at night and one in the morning. He is too young for him to notice any symptoms and for him to explain them to us and we didn't know about any side effects until reading this forum. He has the sniffles all the time which sound kind of stuffy too and some blotched skin on his forehead. He also might have another symptom regarding his bowels, not being able to control them is what I'm getting at and everyday has accidents. I don't know if that's because of Advair or laziness. I would make an intelligent guess and relate it to the Advair under muscle spasms? Does anyone have this symptom and are just too embarrassed to tell your doc? I am at my wits end with this "symptom". Also I heard very strong reports that cow milk is responsible for asthma. Humans were not designed to drink animal milk at all. The Molecules are way too large for us to digest. Almond milk is best and better for you. Now think about it, we are the only species that drink milk after we are nursed from out mothers. The animals do not go back to drinking after they are weened. I've also heard a study that after grown cows drink cow milk they got very sick or died. Anyone else heard that?

I have two sons on Singulair, my three old was suspended today from pre-school for bad behavior. Screaming, biting, scratching, and hitting have been going on for the last few months. But worse the past two weeks. He has always been active and played like a boy, but he has been getting violent. We have tried positive reinforcement, praising good behavior both verbally and with rewards, I have tried time-out, being grounded, not being able to participate in activities, no t.v. and old fashioned butt spanking. All of this with no positive results. I am not looking for an excuse for my child's behavior, but could Singulair really be the cause of his aggression?

I have been Singulair-free for 11 days now. I do not entertain any more suicidal thoughts, I feel MUCH happier just generally. I have cried, but haven't felt really low, just sad, normal-sad. I do have more difficulty breathing and tightness in my chest, but I am looking into adopting an anti-inflammatory diet. I have exercised more since stopping the Singulair, so I hope that will help long term with my lung function. I would definitely say I would rather feel some tightness in my chest or breathlessness going up stairs than intense sadness and irrational suicidal ideations. This life is much better than the one I had two weeks ago, and I know it's the same life, nothing has changed, just my perspective. I wonder if taking drugs off the market is going to be like putting up stop signs or traffic lights - we have to wait for a significant number of accidents before that move would be warranted. I really can't believe that all those years I thought it was me. I am a whole new person psychologically and it is because of an asthma medicine that is approved for KIDS! Amazing.

My son is three and a half and has been taking singulair for a little over two years. But only when his seasonal asthma flares up or when I know it is that time of year that he has problems. While taking singulair he has always complained of headaches, stomach and leg pains, and of course it never occured to me that it could be a perscribed medication. However after hearing the affect it had on another little girl and that leading me to research it to find all of these postings from other parents. What really brought on the investigation is the last week. My sweet little boy turned into a monster. He kicked, hit, screamed, pinched, bit, scratched or anything he could do to physically hurt you. We were all freaked out by this because he is such a sweet, gentle little boy, one of his teachers made every excuse she could think of. Because this was not in his character at all, then of he did it to her. She described it as a switch going off inside him. I believe he was also hallucinating, he told me someone told him to do it. This is by far the most scary thing I have ever been through and will never give my son singulair again. Further more I am going to pass this information along to all my friends and family and hope and pray that it makes is to everyone so this madness this perscription medication causes.

Have been taking Singulair but not consistently. I am a middle aged overweight male, and the MD suggested that conventional antihistamines could have cardiac complications.
Tried taking singulair at night per instructions but found it interfered with sleep. Recently moved to taking it in the daytime and found it prevented me from staying awake.
A couple of near-accidents while driving.
Mood swings, apathy and hostility, and even a trace of paranoia.
Greatly reduced intellectual capacity, a very bad thing for me as a computer programming professional.
Stopped taking it a week ago and I am almost back to myself. Hope and believe I escaped long term damage. I suppose I could be an outliers but I'm basically wired pretty well and I tend to doubt it. My impression is that this drug has such severe neurological effects that it should only be prescribed, if ever, in case of extreme need.
I'll take the sniffles, thanks. Singulair made me lazy, mean and stupid. Not a good trade at all.
The idea that this stuff is being foisted on inarticulate young children horrifies me. Even as an adult it is hard to make the connection. One doesn't anticipate severe psychotropic effects from something that replaces over the counter allergy meds.
I hope I'm an outliers but I think this needs some investigation. Suicide is awful, of course, but if its incidence goes up a little, perhaps a lot of minds are being disrupted short of suicide. If so this is a catastrophe and a travesty.

I've been taking this pill for 7 MONTHS now. Previously the side effects seemed pretty negligible--I had a bit of spotting--and though the "blood" was disconcertingly "clumpy" (sorry for the graphics)--I've had spotting with every other pill I've used too. Recently, though, the spotting has turned into full periods! I have about a week and a half of nothing and then a constant mess. As of day before yesterday the cramps and bloating are also in full effect. I'm calling the doctor tomorrow because I got on the pill mainly to control the pain and now not only am I constantly bleeding...but it's these strange dark clumps! Once again, sorry to be so specific, but has anyone else experienced this? It's truly mortifying when I'm with my boyfriend...

My daughter, now 6, has taken Singulair on and off for the last 2-3 years for asthma. It works but the side effects are not worth it. My daughter has had encoupresis (severe constipation causing accidents) since starting the drug, as well as mood swings. Because she has also had to take Flovent (also Advair, Pulmicort) and Albuterol we have never been sure which drug was the culprit. We took her off Singulair at the end of the summer in 2006 and kept her on the Flovent and Albuterol (as needed). We got the encoupresis under control and her mood dramatically improved. This January 2007 she started having allergic reactions everyday at school and was going to the school nurse to get Benydryl. We decided to put her back on the Singulair a couple of weeks ago. The encoupresis symptoms have returned and the moodiness is horrible. We are stopping the medicine from now on, does anyone know of an alternative that helps with food, grass and animal allergies??? Thanks for your help.

6yo has been on Singulair and Nasonex for 2 years
I have kept him off his meds in mid Winter and Summer each time I restart him he has trouble with Bedwetting we thought it was just a phase until I recently restarted singulair only about a week ago he has wet the bed almost every night since. Last year when he was having trouble with bedwetting I started a log looking back now all of the accidents started shortly after restarting his singulair. After reading this board I have now connected a rash as well that has dissapeared after taking him off the meds and also can attribute aggressive behavior.

Hi everyone,
I'm really worried that I haven't gotten my period yet. I am officially 9 days late. Someone please tell me if this is normal. I was on Yasmin for over 3 yrs. and have been off of it for 4 months. I got what I thought was my real period exactly on time for 3 months. I got it on the thurs. and it lasted until the sun. Now I didn't get it. It feels like I should get it at any time now. I have sore breasts, and I am breaking out like a teenager. However they aren't really zits, kinda more like bumps with clear liquid in them.
I'm wondering if I should take a pregnancy test or if this is normal. I have heard of people taking tests and having it read positive due to messed up hormones as well which would really scare me more. I'm kinda freakin out. My boyfriend and I have been using condoms and there weren't any accidents, but I can't figure out why it hasn't come yet. Was the past 3 months just my fake period or what?
Thanks,
Hill

My 4 1/2 year old daughter has taken singulair for just two days. I looked up "singulair side effects" on Google because last night she wet the bed and has had 2 accidents today. She hasn't had an accident in 2 years until today! I saw one other entry about bed wetting but am reading all of these other side effects. We will NOT be taking this medication anymore! I will try the organic route for asthma.

I am 38 and taking it for TN with the 1st and 2nd branches affected. At 600mg I noticed mild hyperactivity. This subsided but was not enough to alleviate the pain. At 900mg I had an increased level of hyperactivity with about 2 weeks of sleepless nights. This also eventually subsided and the pain was gone. This was good for approximately 6 months. Then the 3rd branch started up and I was told to increase the level to 1200mg/day. The hyperactivity was worse. Then came the fits of crying for no reason (I NEVER cry). I gained 10 lbs. and much anxiety. I came close to driving my vehicle off of a bridge but made it to my mom's house where I feel into a crying fit. I couldn't remember where I left anything and this was affecting my work. It got so bad I was having my husband drive to work because I couldn't concentrate and almost had a few accidents. I completely lost my sex drive which was horrible. This all happened within 2 weeks of increasing it. I know it is not good to just quit taking something but I had to. Within 2 days I was getting better. I am now on 700mg which is not enough to help with the pain.

My 7 year old son started Advair about a year ago. The doctor started him on 250 twice a day and I new that wasn't working so I cut him down to 250 once a day. Adam has increasingly exhibit ADHD symptoms that he never had before, and about 6 weeks ago started having bladder accidents during the day. His teacher told me he showed signs of 'aggressive depression' and was concerned about his lack of social skills. I called his Primary physician last week and she wanted to decrease his dose (which she said was excessive for his age) to 100 twice a day (I did 100 once a day because he can't sleep at night if we do this at night). Every day since then there has been an incident. He was caught in major lies yesterday and responded to the teacher in a fit of uncontrolled rage! This is NOT my son! He tells me his brain tells him to do stuff and he can't control himself. I called his primary and she said take him off ALL Advair! Does anyone know what his withdrawal symptoms might look like? Now, in two weeks we'll be sending him to a child psychologist! I believe this is all a result of Advair! All this treatment was to reverse his Reactive Airway Disease (which apparently wasn't full-blown ashtma to begin with). Watch out for this medication with kids!!!!

Well i been on loestrin for about 5 months now, Ive tried 4 other contraceptives (that kept giving me nasty yeast infections, headaches and severe nausea! , but this is probably the only one my body tolerates..... as far as symptoms, in the beginning i would have massive migraines and nausea almost everyday it was horrible! but it got a lil better as time past....of coarse mood swings from here to there, and a low sex drive... it suxs my boyfriend thinks "im not into him" anymore, and im telling u its the pills... cuz i didnt have this problem before i got on em. but i guess i choose to be on the pills cuz i dont want any accidents....it helps my acne for the most part.....haven't had any migrans lately hopefully they wont come back.... but my next step will probably be the IUD...hopefully this wont give me no problems =/ if that dont work then i dont no what im gonna do...anything with tooo much estrogen gets me really sick.....
