i have endometriosis, as well. i tried doing the vitamin thing for a couple of months but my peroids didn't get any easier, so i gave-in and went on BCPills. i was on loestrin which worked great for the 1st 3 months but then stopped working and i gained 8-10 pounds of water weight. i took a month off and went on yasmin and LOVED it! for the 1st 4 months, it was a dream come true - i lost the water weight, had TONS of energy. well, when i started working out again, around month 4 - i was fine doing cardio but as soon as i'd add weights to the routine, i would be hit with TOTAL exhaustion, muscle fatigue, etc.. i thought i was coming down w/ the flu or a cold and would take some time off...only to try again and have the same effect. this went on ALL summer - then i found out it might be YASMIN!!! apparently the increased levels of potassium in the blood can mess w/ the acidity in the blood and make the muscles hurt. my OBGYN refuses to accept it could be the pill (suggested i get tested for fibromyalgia, depression, etc.). i'm off of the pill now for a week and am still REALLY muscle-achey (sorta feels like the flu). does anyone else have this? does anyone have experience w/ how long it takes this crap to get out of the body? i just started at the gym this morning, only adding cardio for awhile... i am so frustrated!! i'm getting married in 8 months and want to be buff for the wedding but keep getting sidetracked w/ exhaustion. *UGH* can't wait to get yasmin behind me.

I have had my Mirena since 6/5/06, three weeks after giving birth to my third child. I only opted for it because a paperwork fiasco at the hospital did not get my authorization for the tubal ligation after delivery in time, then went I went for the pre-surgery consult, the doctor highly recommended the Mirena instead of a tubal and even though I told her that I had horrible problems tolerating the pill, I was told that the hormone level was low, and localized, and not to worry about any side effects.
I didn't have pain or cramping initally like a lot of the other posters, and had very light spotting for the first few months, to the point that I couldn't really tell "Is THIS my period, or am I still just spotting?". I thought that would subside, but here, 15 months later, I still "spot" up to 20 days a month. I have tender/swollen breasts almost every day of the month (to the point where even an accidental brush against them is painful and I have to wear my bra even to bed, something I never did before). FORGET about my husband even wanting to touch them! More on that later....
I go to my PCP tomorrow and am asking to have it removed. To help her, I made a list of my symptoms, and have divided them into Physical and Emotional Categories. I am hoping she does not give me a referral to a mental health specialist when she reads it, cause its quite extensive. I am NOT a hypochondriac by any means, just someone who knows my body and knows these are not normal: bloated stomach (still look 6 mos pregnant), weight gain (I am 7 lbs over my weight when discharged from the hospital after delivery. 7 lbs is not alot, but consider that is on top of a considerable pregnancy weight gain that has not come off, add another 7lbs to it despite a rigorous exercise and diet plan, including Alli (orlistat) that resulted in a 2lb. gain). Headaches, blurry vision, acute insomnia in spite of prescribed sleep aids, fatigue, achey muscles, joint pain esp. in wrists and hands, acne, cramping, night sweats, pain during intercourse (when I'm coaxed into having it), a worsening in my hearing and ringing in ears, sometimes a burning sensation in the top of my right foot.
The worst part is the emotional effects. Depression and dispair beyond anything I could have ever imagined. Wild mood swings. I thought "maybe I'm bi-polar?" but no, I don't have manic episodes, I'd say I have two moods: Despair & Self-Loathing and RAGE. I have destroyed almost every relationship I have. I have lost friends, family members that I have alientated with my wild temper, and last week, my husband walked out on me, saying "I just can't take this anymore, what is WRONG with you, you aren't the woman I married". My rage is 99% of the time directed towards him. It can be over something as simple as he didn't push his chair in after leaving the dinner table. I have anxiety attacks, severe daily crying spells, and the thought or suggestion of sex sends me into severe panic attacks. A sexual encounter, formerly a much enjoyed and daily event, has become a MAYBE twice monthly event that ends with me in tears and my husband frustrated and angry beyond belief.
I just hope and pray I am not met with "It's not the IUD" when I see my doctor (not the doctor that put it in, as we have moved across the state). All I can say is NONE of these symptoms were present before Mirena, it just took my husband walking out on me to sit and think and make the connection that maybe there is a coincidence. I started to see a connection to wild behavior while pregnant and years ago being on the pill and then, duh, light bulbs went off in my head. "This is hormonal". Sorry it took me so long and cost me so much pain to figure it out.

I had been taking Lipitor for several years and had many of the common problems listed as possible side effects, however, since bloodwork showed no liver problems my doctors kept me on the drug. In Novemeber 2005, I had a 'charlie-horse' so bad that it tore a muscle in my right leg.
I stopped taking the drug, but the damage was done! Since that time my condition has continued to go down hill and no doctor has been able to help.

I've been taking 25mg of Toprol twice a day since the middle of February this year. Since then, my joints ache so badly, I'm so tired I can't function, and the nightmares! I thought for sure the Grizzly bear in my dream this morning had me for sure! My blood pressure is a bit lower than usual, but I haven't had the chest pain or noticeable irregular heart rate since I've been taking Toprol.
I guess to get a little, you've got to give a little. sigh.

im 27 and thought i was in good shape. i was given levaquin for an upper resp. infect that the z-pack didnt cure. i was given 7 day dose, and since day one my legs have been sore and achey. then my wrists and elbows became sore, for a minute i thought that i was having hallucinations, i thought no way. then my ankle joint and knee joints begun hurting SOOOO bad, i had a hard time falling asleep, and became scared over my legs, afraid to call the doctor back thinking that it was something else, after reading all of your side affects, i am SO glad to hear that i am not the only one, i still have 3 more of these lovely pills to take, and i do plan on getting in touch with the doc now. i never had a hard time staying awake, i would take it at night and could never get to sleep, also seemed to have slight anxiety, the worst of it all is my legs! i want to cry they hurt so bad, and i have two little ones at home, its not like i can lay around all day!!

I am on Day 5 of Levaquin for sinus infection and this is the first time (of the past 6 years of taking it) that I am having some side effects. When I rub my eyes, I see white flashes; I am achey, I have bouts of nausea; I am bloated at times; I have even felt someone standing nearby me and think I see someone for a flash, and no one is there; just feel lousy. I didn't sleep good at all last night and couldn't stay awake today. I am allergic to so many antibiotics that I don't have a lot of options left. Just wanted to share this .. and I see I am not alone .. perhaps it is the Levaquin.

Guest 34613,
Yasmin is a pill that causes tons of side effects when going off of it. If you go through this whole forum like I did when I first found it you will be amazed. I was on Yaz the sister pill for only 2mths and it practically took my sanity. I did get swollen glands and felt achey. The feeling and down and depressed well you can definetly see from here that is from the pill. I had to go on a A/D because of such bad depression and anxiety. Yes it does affect the adrenal gland, I had a friend that was on Yasmin and it messed up hers. I also have seen it in some post on here. Have you lost any weight? I am so tired since going off of it. I think it just drained our body so much.

Sarah, Sophie,
Tonight, when I laid down, and on a few other occassions, I have this really heavy feeling like its hard to breathe as if someone were sitting on my chest? Is this like either of your sensations? This follows this fluttery aching squeezing sensation I've had since yesterday morning...
Any other ladies out there who have developed this problem?
I can't believe this-the acid reflux, the plugged up achey ears, and now this chest pain (last 6 months)/been off of Yasmin for 2 months....went onto Orthocept but I think I just have to get off of all bcp's.

I am a an active, healthy 42 yr old female who was taking 60mg every day for 5 days. Medicine was prescribed to me by my doctor to help with the pain from an injury that aggravated back surgery that I had in January. I am done with the medication but am feeling flu symptons (i.e. sensitive skin, achey joints, spinning sensation, general fatigue). Is this normal? My appetite has tripled! Whats up? This medicine is awful! Just say no!

I have not slept for 4 days, have been extrememly angry and emotional, pain seems to be increasing. I flip out at any little thing and cannot fall asleep until about 5 am. Cannot think clearly and am very intense at all times. I hate this drug. My body is achey and I feel like all my muscles are constantly spasming.

Started taking 60 mg 2 weeks ago for Asthma. No noticable side effects until the 6th night. I had insomnia and became extremely agitated and angry. I even went as far as to go out to the garage to find my husband's BB gun (I don't know what I planned to do with it but I was just in a rage...) The next day I stopped the Prednisone. I than started feeling sick like a bad cold or the flu (sore throat, achey muscles, headache, congested sinuses and ears). I Went to my Primary Care Physican because we were going away on vacation and I wanted something to make me feel better, plus my BP was dangerously high (166/120) He gave me Vicodin which I took quite alot of over a 3 day period (like maybe 8 tablets a day) and started me on a beta-blocker for the HBP. Don't know if it was from the Vicodin, the beta-blocker, withdrawl from the Prednisone or a combo but I was absolutely exhausted during the day and could not sleep at night and sweated profusely even though the room was cool. I was also taking a RX cough syrup with a histamine in it. By Sunday my Asthma was out of control again. Monday the breath thing measured 220 (I am 44 years) and I couldn't stop coughing. I went back to the Dr. who gave me a cortisone injection and ordered me back on the Steroids (40 mg. for 10 days) I'm also on a antibiotic and diruetic. This is my 3rd day back on and have had terrible headaches and the sweatyness as well as some aches but other than that I've done pretty well. As far as the insomnia - the pharmacist recommended I take all 40 mg. of Prednisone in the AM and the Beta-Blocker b-4 bed. So far this seems to be working because the beta-blocker does make me tired. My face is bloated and I am hungry but refuse to give in and overeat because I know It'll just make it that much harder to get back on track with my exercise and healthy eating habits once I'm over this thing. I resigned myself to the fact that no matter how crazy or bad this stuff makes me feel, I just have to stay on it for the full 10 days in order to recover. I've warned my family and friends that I might become outraged at any little thing and have canceled obligations and other things that might stress me out and cause me to flip out again. I bought a few good books and other than Carpooling the kids around to their activites I plan to just chill for the next week. Now, my question is - the Dr. prescribed 40 mgs for 10 days - what about the weaning off thing? Do you think I'll be okay to just stop taking it at the end of 10 days?

I have taken advair now for 3 yrs. at first I started out with the 250/50mg and then decressed myself down to the 100/50. I've put on alot of weight, and have tryed getting off of it. I only inhaled this once a day in the AM. I don't need it in the PM. I do have an albuterol back up if I need it, and when I tried to stop using it, (the advair) I was using the albuterol inhaler twice a day. I also have backaches, headaches, blurred vision at times, (not bad though). achey joints, trying to get rid of the weight gain is harder then I thought no matter what I do it just won't come off, Advair does help me breath, but how the heck do you come off of it if you feel you absolutely don't need it?

I was taking Toprol for a little over a month and the back pain today is so severe....that I finally contacted my doctor and said I think we should try something else....I even didn't take the medication for 2 days to get rid of the back pain.

My daughter has been on Prednisone for 16 months because of a blood platelet disorder (ITP). She started with 100 mg and has gradually been weaned down to 2 mg. Yesterday, her platelet count dropped quite a bit, so they took her back up to 3 mg. to get the count back up. I have several questions--because she is scared to check for herself. 1st, she has had a "sore" or achey spot on the side of one of her breasts--not a premenstrual sore, just a deep sort of ache. Could this be related to the prednisone? Also, she has had breakthrough bleeding between cycles. Also the pred??? Are there side effects even on this lower dose? She is 25 years old, and this has been a horrific ordeal for her and her new husband (who is incredibly understanding and patient). She is constantly anxious and deals with irrational fears. Frequent mood swings are common. I am sure this is all a result of the long term use of pred., but she so much wants to return to normal again. Has anyone experienced any of these or been on pred for this long? Thank you!

I posted on here a few days ago see (Sun, 21 Aug 2005 10:18:19 -0500 by Guest, #12792). I stopped taking Singulair. Today was my 3rd day off of it. I am fine during the day, but needed my Proventil inhaler one of the nights. I am starting to take Claritin before bedtime. Maybe that will help the nights. I wanted to comment on how different I feel since stopping the Singulair. The biggest change is in my temperament. I read somewhere that it would stay in my system for approx. 5 days, but I already feel different. I am not as angry, irritable or impatient. It is an extreme difference after only 3 days. I am also not as tired. The overall achey body feeling is gone, however, my fingers still hurt on one of my hands. I think that is starting to improve too. I just wanted to let everyone know that this drug really does affect your personality. Also, the strange vibrating sound from my chest/nose is gone. I'll see how it goes.

I get achey joints when I take Maxide but I don't retain fluid. When I stop taking Maxide, the aches also stop but I do retain fluids and get puffy again - until I drink more water and less beverages, eat healthier and less food, watch what I eat (especially salt), and keep my weight down. When I stop, I also get headaches for a few days but my skin is less dry. When I have taken Maxide with antibiotics, my hair ends split and break due to extreme dryness. Herbal diuretics don't get rid of the fluid as fast, but I prefer the safer, less harsh and more natural method. A doctor-friend of mine told me that Maxide was too harsh for me because I only needed help with water retention and not high blood pressure, which is normal.

Hey ladies... I'm 24 years old and I've been on Yasmin for the past two or so years. The first year or so, I was side effect free and I thought that the pill was the greatest thing invented by science. I used to run around promoting it to every female on knew because I thought that this was the end-all-be-all of oral contraception. But then things changed, gradually over time... and now that I'm reading all of these complaints of negative side effects that I too experience- and now I'm freaking out.
Here is the rundown of side effects that I have:
-Fatigue
-Weight Gain (happened about 6 months ago, all of a sudden gained 10-12 lbs despite diet and exercise)
-Violent Mood Swings
-Psychosis
-Depression
-Anxiety
-Paranoia
-Constant Hungryness
-SEVERE Acid Reflux
-Major Digestive Problems
-Panic Attacks
-Achey Joints
-Muscle Fatigue
-Migraine Headaches
-Lump in Left Breast
-Racing Heart
-Heart Palpitations (left-center of chest, almost daily)
-Night Sweats
-Nightmares (nightly... and really terrible ones)
-Insomnia
-Monthly Spotting
-Multiple Periods Per Month
-Mysterious Abdominal Pains (like... lower abdomen)
-Thinned Hair
-Generally, a Complete Bitch
-Weird Discharge
-Acne like the dickens (and in places like... my eye area?)
-Cloudy Thinking/Zero Concentration
I could write more... but you get the point.
Right now, I'm feeling really guilty for ruining the wonderful relationship that I had with my boyfriend. Because of my general psychosis, he has begun to second guess our relationship- I mean, who wouldn't second guess things when your girlfriend is a complete mess. I just hope that I can return to my old self after coming off of these pills- because right now. I also feel sorry for my family for having to deal with me being unstable for the past few months. It's been a terrible strain on all of my personal relationships.
I feel like a really sad psycho-bitch with a lump in her left breast that can't even sleep through the night at age 24.
My Ob/Gyn has always encouraged me to be on some form of birth control (for obvious reasons), but I have to say that I'm going to have to go against medical advice on this one. When I get my period on this pill, it is also the (excuse me for saying this) the smelliest, most clot-ridden, painful, heaviest and most disgusting mess ever.
My previous experience with BCP's was Ortho Tri-Cyclen and I originally came off that pill because it gave me no sex drive, huge boobies that I didn't want, and extreme mood swings. Now that I've also had this terrible experience with Yasmin, I'm calling it quits in the artificial hormone adventures. It's strictly condoms and diaphragms for this girl. Risking my health and causing permanent damage was NEVER what I intended for... I just intended on not getting pregnant and having a regular cycle.
Ladies... I'm throwing the pills in the trash TODAY. If you are smart, you will do the same. These artificial hormones have ruined my life... and all I can hope for is that I can repair the damage that they have done. If you're thinking "gee, I've been on these for like 9 months and I'm fine!"- think again. It will happen to you. It happens to everyone. Save your body and your soul from complete hell by throwing the pills away TODAY.

I am a 58 year old man. I was started on Lipitor due to slightly high cholesterol levels. Within a few days, I was feeling flu-like symptoms: sore skin, achey neck and shoulders, I felt pretty much the same as when flu is just starting up. Tylenol would usually make me feel a little better. I also think it was causing some bloating. My doctor suspected fibromyalgia but did some research and has switched me to Crestor ... so far so good. I am also taking the Crestor in the morning instead of at bedtime. I was taking the Lipitor at bedtime and would start to feel the worst effects by early evening.
