I have just sat here and cried listening to your story and your side effects! Finally, I feel like someone gets what I've been going through! Hell! I had Mirena put in this past Aug. '08 for heavy periods and cramping after surgery in March for endometriosis (my 5th) and then two session of the worse drug in the world, Lupron. The Lupron had already made me gain weight and then the Mirena came along and made me gain more! I have taken 4 pregnancy test in the time I have been on it. Really convinced at times I was pregnant. I felt so bad, so tired, nausea. That was basically the whole months of Nov. and Dec. Now I have acne which I've never had, still horrible cramps, cramps in my legs, my period are back to every month, my pms is horrible. I can barely get out of the bed, I am so tired and when I do I can barely keep my eyes open. I feel like I have been hit by a truck. Cramping all the time! Headaches. I'm so swollen! I feel in a fog! People will be talking to me and I have know idea what they are saying. It drives you crazy, like you are just in another world! Insomnia. Just feel miserable especially, when I'm about to start my period. I've started spotting again. My periods are heavy again and I have huge blood clots! MY breasts are engorged! Huge! So uncomfortable. I've felt so alone. My doctor said this will be so great for you because it will eventually leave you with no periods, which will help with your endometriosis pain, but I'm really not sure that will ever happen! People don't understand how hormones can make you feel so awful! I have a 2 yr. old and I feel so guilty being so tired and feeling bad all the time! I just want to fell good for once since I've had him. It is the worse feeling when they just dismiss what ur saying to be something else and I'm smart enough to know and know my body well enough by now, with all the crap I've been through to know when it is the Mirena. Thank all of you for sharing your stories and making me feel that I'm not alone anymore!

Hello people - I've been taking Doxycycline for about 4 weeks now (for Chronis Prostates) and started experiencing aching in my muscles, mainly my legs (back of thigh, calf and behind the knee mostly) about 2 weeks back. It started very subtle and has got stronger each day. I don't know if this is a side effect of the Doxycycline or just some lovely new medical problem I'm developing - but I thought I should post up my experience in case anyone finds themselves in my position and they too want to know if anyone else has got worsening aching legs whilst taking a long course of this medicine. I'm going to speak to my doctor about this tomorrow and stop taking the drug. I'll update you all with another postas to how things develop. Hope you all get well folks!

Took 1 dose. Within hours, I awoke with a very dry mouth and severe heartburn. Went to the kitchen for water and nearly passed out. Nausea, so I made it to the bathroom. Cold sweats, then chills. Felt like I had the flu. Every time I stood up, I nearly passed out and kept having same symptoms most of the night. Next day, at work, I had to be taken to the nurse, who figured out that my already low blood pressure was dropping dramatically when I stood up (as well as my pulse rate increasing). I threw up all over the doctor's bathroom. Still feel awful 3 days later. Dr. pretty much indicated that blood pressure drop couldn't have been from the Crestor, although my father has had same thing happen with EVERY statin they've put him on. Now, my leg aches and my urine is dark

I am so glad that I found this website, because I thought all of this was just me! Nine days ago, I was prescribed 750mg of Levaquin/once a day for 14 days. I was just about to take today's dose but after reading only page 1 on this site, will NOT be taking the 9th dose, nor will I be taking any more of this stuff at all! Mine all started with a toothache a few weeks ago, and ended up in the ENT's office with the above prescription with a CT-Sinus scan after 14 days of being on Levaquin. I always read the side effects of any prescription that I'm given, and I was aware that Levaquin could cause ruptured tendons so I've been very methodical with every move that I make...my husband had a ruptured achilles tendon a couple of years ago and that's the LAST thing I want to go through. However, after reading this site, I now understand that all of the other symptoms that I've been experiencing over the last several days are most definitely side effects of Levaquin that they aren't admitting to. Plus, it doesn't seem to appear that being cautious about how you move makes much of a difference when you're taking this stuff. Metallic taste in my mouth; Thrush and a lack of having full taste; swollen knees, extremely sore and aching legs, hips, and back/neck area; nausea; jittery spells very shortly after taking the medicine; hot, then cold spells...everything listed here! Why are doctor's continuing to prescribe this stuff left and right?? I'd rather just have a sinus infection!

Hi..I just went off Yaz last week after being on it for 18 mos for severe periods. I've had nausea, diarrhea, gained 20 lbs, sore and aching legs, and the worst lower back pain. I've been go a gastrointestinal specialist for a endoscopy and colonoscopy and everything came back normal. I've also had a CT, MRI and nerve blocks for my back but nothing helped. My daughter had a really bad reaction to the Mirena IUD and a light bulb went off that maybe the Yaz was responsible. I'm 46 and I feel like I'm 86. I literally manage to go to work (most days) and then am too sore and exhausted to do anything else except lay on my couch. It's been a week since my last pill and I have to say I feel worse today than ever. If it's the Pill, how long would it take to start feeling better? I had really hoped that this would be the answer. I used to be very fit and active and I can't believe that I might feel like this forever.

I have been on Yas for about 4 years i was originally put on it for acne which cleared up slightly i still have it not as bad but recently i am that moody i feel depressed again ( had it 5 years ago post natal), real lack of libido to the point where my partner thinks I'm not attracted to him anymore, headaches, monthly aching legs, hungry i lost a heap of weight then recently started to gain it again, IBS, I also get my period the week before it says i should my doctor said it would fix up but it hasn't and it's not as if I've just started taking it. Also it is one of the most expensive pills so I'm a bit undecided whether to stick to it or to change.I don't know if any of this is related to Yas but after reading what is on this site I'm starting to wonder!!

I am almost 54, a female. Twice since October I have tried to take Lipitor, but couldn't make it past the fifth dose. By day five (both times) I developed flu-like symptoms, the worst of which was severe nausea and vomiting every ten minutes, muscle aches and pain (including lower back), extreme weakness, dizziness, shakiness, feverish feeling, and "fuzzy" head. The last episode - just two days ago - made me realize it was more than likely the Lipitor. The first episode happened while I also had a staff infection in my eye, and although I quit taking the Lipitor just in case, I attributed my ailments to the eye infection, and totally forgot about the possible Lipitor connection after that. At that time I also had extreme head pain, and now I'm not sure which was the cause, the infection or the Lipitor. I was bed ridden for five days that time.
This time I was away on a business trip and had to spend two extra days in bed at a hotel because I could hardly walk. As soon as I got sick I quit taking the drug. I had to take prescribed suppositories to stop the vomiting because I couldn't even keep water down. The nausea was so severe I had to keep a trash can next to the bed. I drove three excruciating hours to get home tonight, and still feel very sick with the flue symptoms and aching legs. I promised myself that the first thing I would do when I got home was check the internet for Lipitor side effects, and I'm sure glad I did. I had no idea what the drug is capable of doing.
I will try to see my doctor tomorrow and discuss an alternative way to lower my cholesterol, which is only marginally elevated - in fact, if it weren't for my type-2 diabetes (which I keep under control through diet), my cholesterol would be normal.
Good luck to all of you who have more serious, long-term effects of this drug. I consider myself lucky to have gotten ill at the onset of taking Lipitor so hopefully I will avoid more dire consequences later. I will now go to bed before I fall over.

I've been on Topamax 3 weeks now, and I've read all you side effect comments and I agree with all soda taste terrible! I have not experienced any hair loss as of yet, very little tingling in my hands or feet, my biggest problem is aching legs, it's literally waking me up in the early morning hours and can last a couple of hours, has anyone experienced this? It has started since I've started 75 mg on my 3rd week. But my migranes are completely gone and my appetite has lessened which is another plus! Thanks for any feedback.

My 5 year old daughter started on Singulair this past fall; she has what seems to be seasonal and/or dust mite allergies & gets a post nasal drip that makes her cough all nite long. We were thrilled w/how well it got rid of her symptoms but I am concerned and will be calling her doctor. First of all, is she going to have to take this every day for.........how long? Won't her body build up a tolerance?
AND she's had some changes that when occuring just once, or isolated from each other, I would never think to blame the meds BUT - she has had repeated complaints of aching legs & feet, (I thought growing pains), almost nightly waking w/bad dreams, and itching all over her body. PLUS since she started kindergarden (when she started on Singulair) she's having all kinds of problems at school ie: not listening, not focusing & finishing her work; after a whole year of pre-K that went like a breeze & the tecaher loved her!

I received Levoquin for a bad sinus /respitory infection. I've taken full doses in the past, but no more. I took one 500mg Levoquin pill and within 1 hour I had a fever, uncontrolled chills, aching legs/feet and swollen hands. After finally falling asleep I woke up feeling better. I at that time didn't associate the two (have taken without side effects in the past). I just thought that I probably came down with some strange 24hr bug. I took my morning dose and wouldn't you know it the whole cycle started again. I haven't had a dose in 24hrs and just started taking Benedryl for some relief. My hands and feet are still swollen, red and painful. It hurts to walk b/c the soles of my feet are so sore and now I have signs of thrush. It is a nightmare. I will never, ever take this medication again!!!!

I'm wondering if synthroid is the answer for hypothyroid? I mean, pretty much all our guts give out over time... How many people actually go into a coma and die from hypothyroidism? I took synthroid and had to get off it after just one week! I was slamming doors around here, screaming, out of control, miserable. I've talked to plenty of women at work who have lots of trouble controlling their dosage. I've read some other comments here: BEFORE I took synthroid, I had aching legs and feet, thickness in my throat, weakness, tiredness, can't concentrate. I only take a tranquilizer for eight years, same dosage, for anxiety. I'm thinking there HAS to be another way to treat hypothyroid. What if my kidneys are giving out and synthroid is overloading it, and THAT is the primary disease, with the hypo business secondary. I can see kidneys giving out, what with all the stuff we eat, yearly innoculations for flu, and so on. Anybody have any thoughts on (1) How many folks actually die from hypothyroidism via coma, and (2) Is hypo the primary condition, or is kidney primary, and (3) What is with my feet and legs hurting and aching all the time?!?! I've been reading about the Lupron, considering it for large fibroids-size of 18-20 week pregnancy. I'm 52 yo, and haven't had a period since 11/2003. The symptoms decsribed as side affects of Lupron are some of the same symptoms I'm having from peri-menapause. I wake up about every hour all night long, I'm moody, hot flashes all day and all night. My joints ache, muscles ache, two weeks ago my teeth started aching, legs hurt when I walk for exercise, I've gained quite a bit of weight since Jan. 2004, and two weeks ago my teeth started hurting. Also I have the numbness in my hands and fingers some times. I'm going to ask about something for these hot flashes because they are getting unbeareable. if there is anyone out there who is closer to my age and is already going through the change and is using lupron for fibroids, I would appreciate hearing from you. I don't want to have hysterectomy if I don't have to. Read all the letters and I feel discouraged. Thanks for any information

I have had bloating, aching legs, feeeling of pressure in the eyes, spangly vision, blurring of vision - and I think that has contributed to my first ever car accident today after 17 years without an accident (my 2 year old was in the car at the time!!!!!), depression (and I am soooo angry that none of this was mentioned when I ASKED what the side effects were - I have battled with depression for many years and have not come this far just to have a drug take it away from me!) I have also battled with weight gain over the last 18 months and lost 60lbs. I asked about weight gain and was told it would just be an increase in appetite. I have honestly watched what I have eaten and gained 6lbs in 3 days!!!!!!!!!!!! Also mood swings. And why am I on it? I went to an ENT doc with a fluttering in my ear that has been annoying me for about 2 or 3 months. On further investigation, he said I had a lot of mucus in one of my nasal passages and that may well be giving me the fluttering sensation in my ear. Compared to the other complaints for which this drug is prescribed, I'd say it was pretty minor. I CANNOT BELIEVE HE PRESCRIBED THIS FOR ME. I feel dreadful and am facing a fine or day in court for a traffic accident that I feel is related to the use of this drug. I am also petrified that it will take me a long time to reverse the effects of this drug. I will be calling the doctor to get me off this drug first thing this morning...he even made the restlessness/mania sound positive...'some people report a feeling of energy and get their attic cleaned out...' What about screwing up my body??? I am scared. If anyone can help me feel less scared, I would appreciate it.

omg finally someone who understands me....i got my Mirena put in august '06, and ever since i have felt totally out of it... i am tired all of the time, i feel totally detached from reality, cronic panic attacks, much longer heavier periods, intense back pain, sore breasts, i have had a very short temper, shortness of breath, aching legs, headaches, nausea, gastrointestinal problems... and many many others... not to mention the toll it has taken on my relationship with my children, because of the way i have been feeling i haven't spent the quality time with them that i should have.... i thought i was going crazy and that it was all just in my head... i am going to get it taken out ASAP... i will let you know how i feel afterwards
