I am reading this stuff and find I am very angry with the doctors who don't do the research to see what they are putting into us! I know some who say this is all just overactive parents but I think there is much more to it than that. My 8 year old child has been put on Singulair twice now and I have taken him off both times for what I thought were side effects of this med. After reading all this I know I WAS RIGHT! The first time he broke out in hives and complained of pain on several ocassions. This second time around they told me it couldn't have been the Singulair that caused the reaction and so I tried it again. He took it for 3 weeks before I connected it to constant loose to at worst water stools. He also acted differently and complained of headaches. I will say though his allergies were well in check from this medication and I wish it didn't have the nasty side effects. He finally after almost a month of being off it has normal stools again. The doctor admitted it could take this long to get out of his system. He wanted me to start it again because my child is experiencing the same allergic symptoms that Zyrtec and Flonase don't keep fully under control. Does anyone know how I can stop the stuffy / runny allergy nose with out meds?

I had mirena inserted 7 weeks after my daughter was born. The first 6 months were great. I have endometriosis, so I enjoyed the little to no period and no pain aspect of this contraception very much. But as of the last 6 months, I'm now having 2 periods a month, EXTREME abdominal pain, bloating so bad you can literally watch my low belly expand before your eyes, horrible headaches 3-5 days before each period, decreased sex drive, and I can't prove it, but I think it's making it hard for me to lose the rest of my baby weight. I work out 4-5 days a week, eat right and still...I'm about 14lbs heavier than I was pre-baby. My gyn acted surprised to hear any of this, saying it couldn't be the mirena. Am I just crazy?

I've had crohns for about 10 years. My last flareup was in December of 2006. I was on prednisone for 2 1/2 months. Since I've stopped the meds, my hair has started to fall out. It's been falling out now for two months and I'm afraid it will all fall out. I have yet to read anything about hair loss as a side effect of prednisone. What is going on?

My 7 year old son started taking Zyrtec 5 days ago. For the past couple of days he has started acting crazy. He has outburst where he literally runs through the house waving his arms over his head screaming at the top of his voice. He has never in his life acted this way. He also will not obey. He will be doing things to annoy someone and when asked to stop he SMILES at you. It is really very frightening to see him act this way. He is usually such a sweet and compassionate chld.

I'm a healthy 46 year old female, went to the Dr. a few months back because my Asthma acted up (hadn't had problems with it for years). Took Advair and it really worked... but I've had many of the same symptoms I've read about on this site. Leg cramps, itchy skin, throat problems... all have gone since I stopped taking Advair except the throat. It feels like I've swallowed a marble and it's stuck in my adams apple... and I get hoarse fast. Anyone know what I can do to stop this?

Starting taking Lipitor 20mg 3 weeks ago to the day and all of a sudden, over all pain in the muscle and joints to the point I needed to lie down and sleep for 2-3 hours. After I wake up, I feel like a real person again and then within 1 hour, bang right back to pains and a fuzzy feeling in my head!! Dr did some retest and told me that it's not because of the medicine and could be a flu but no flu I ever had felt or acted like this. I have been off it for 4 days now.. does anyone know how long does it take to get this stuff out of your system!!! I want my life back thank you!

I started Lisinopril (10mg) about 2 months ago. The first 2 days, my BP dropped to 90/60. Doc said to cut them in half. I was feeling very dizzy when standing up and BP was still around 100/70. Doc said to cut the halves in half. I thought I felt okay, but was having less and less energy and was sleeping about 14 hours per day. My right shoulder and neck stiffened up so much, I had to take Vicodin to control the pain. I thought I was developing MS or something. THEN, I got the cought....this is all on 2.5mg per day. BP started to rise (probably due to the violent cough). I even upchucked from violent coughs a couple of times. Needless to say, when I found this site...I was releived. I took my last little "Lisinopril chip" last night.
WARNING: Your doctor may not know or care about these side effects....mine acted shocked and said that there are sites like this for every drug. I would love to hear from anyone that can validate the fact that there are sites like this for every drug. Best Wishes!

I am so glad to find this site. My 3 almost 4 year old has shown extremely agressive behavior and temper tantrums since she has been on this med (4-6 weeks) She never acted like this before, and has been giving her daycare fits. Her doctor prescribed this med for her allergies which I thought was strange with all the other medications out there. We are taking her off of it immediately. Thanks for all the good info.

I recently posted a comment on May 19. I was guest #23321.
Since posting this comment, I have been to the emergency room two more times, unable to walk because of pain in both knees. I have told the doctors at the hospital about the levaquin and they acted as if I were crazy. Now they say that I have gout, which I really find that hard to believe. I have never had this problem before. This pain in my knees is so bad that I can hardly lift my legs. I sure wish I knew if there is any thing that I can do about it. I can't get anything out of these doctors. I just want the pain to go away. I have an appointment in July with an orthopedic Doctor, will it do any good?

I must be severely allergic to this drug because I think I had every side effect known to man. First the depression came, then disorientation, manic behavior, loss of appetite, insomnia, nightmares, vomiting, becoming a different person, paranoid, crying, confusion, basic emotional freefall. Then I started convulsing, so I rushed myself to the ER. I also broke out all over my chest, and my head was bloated and red too. Of course the ER acted like Biaxin couldn't cause this, so I didn't find out it was Biaxin until I went online and found other sites with other patient reviews. Such a horrible experience and drug. It rendered me incapable of doing my job and school. Never again.

I was prescribed Levaquin for a sinus infection/ear infection. Never heard of it. I took the first pill (of 5) around 4pm in the afternoon. Thirty minutes later I felt disoriented, lightheaded, etc. I was driving!
Took the next pill first thing the next morning, same thing, kind of dizzy, lightheaded, etc. Then the joint pain set in. I have arthritis in both knees. My knee joints were so stiff I could barely walk. I took two more doses before I wised up and called my Dr.s office. Funny thing they had NEVER heard of such side effects with this medication. But, advised me to discontinue the Levaquin.
This drug is very scary. Finally, when I got back home (I was out of town for a holiday.) I went to see a different Dr. at the same practice. He informed me that my joint stiffness and swelling in both knees "was not from the Levaquin, but just my arthritis acting up". For the record, I am 46 years old, my arthritis has NEVER "acted up" like that before.
Never again. I hope they take this drug off the market!!!

I took it for over 7 years. I would get up during the night several times and eat excessively to the point of #30 lbs wt gain. I acted drunk, slurred speech, was incoherent, etc and never knew it according to family. I was extremely tired during the day and ended up with chronic fatigue, restless leg syndrome and fibromyalgia. I felt drugged during the day and even though I thought i was sleeping at night I was actually up most of the night sleepwalking, and doing things I never realized i did till I was told later.

My Dr. prescribed Propoxy/Divarcet for my back pain. I have herniated disks. I took a few Propoxy and got no relief, then I observed a friend who was taking Propoxy and saw how really spaced out she looked and acted. She also suffers from back pain. We are "older" people, how can a doctor prescribe something that he well knows is going to diminish
ones's mental abilities ?? Better to suffer discomfort than end up mentally diminished.

HELP!!
I have been on lupron shots for two weeks in preparation for IVF with egg donation. For the past few days I've been experiencing tingling, numbness in my extremities..some weakness too.. also some pain in my joints.. but mostly on my right side of the body. This morning I have tingling on my right side of the face.
I just I just saw my doctor yesterday who will schedule an MRI to rule out MS. MS does not run in my family. She thinks it might be a reaction to the drug.. but acted very nonchalant about it and so did by GYN.. any recommendations? could my symptoms be related to Lupron.. I am a healthy 36 year old woman.

Prednisone- what can I say.
I was on 40 mg 3 times a day, then cut to 40 mg 2 times a day. This lasted for 2.5 months before they started to slowly get me off of it. I finally got off of it after 4 months. This was pure hell.
FIRST OFF to any of you that goes cold turkey on getting off of it, DON'T. NEVER DO THAT!!!!!!!! If anything get off of it SLOWLY!!! If you are at 20mg a day, cut / break them in half, take 15 mg for a couple of days, then 10 mg for two to three days, then go to 5mg for a couple of days. The higher the dosage that you are on, the longer it takes to get get off of them. REMEMBER, I'am NOT a Doctor, this is some of my insight on this 'demon' drug.
How long to get it out of your system, well it will depend on the dosage you are taking and how long you have been taking it. With the high dosage I was on and the lenght of time, about 5.5 months, I'm STILL affected by the 'demon' drug and it has been 2.5 years since I got off of it.
One VERY IMPORTANT point to make if you are going to be taking it over a lenght of time is: If you have a wife / girlfriend, family, and friends, let them know right away. They don't know or realize what it is and what you are going through. For your family if they don't understand have them talk to your Doctor.
I have MANY side affects from this drug and will go through more of it some other day, but right now I'm having 'wife' problems because of this stuff. I sat her down three times during the couse of taking the 'demon' drug but she did not or could not believe it. (note: for the first month on it, I average 1/2 hrs of sleep per night. This IS with taking a stong sleeping pill.) To this day, my wife is not really even talking to me because of the way I acted when I was on the 'demon' drug. I don't remember any of it, and try to explain what it is like to not sleep for weeks. SHE doesn't understand that, she just says that it was me and my fault.
There is nothing I can say now to change her mind. So now after 33 yrs of marrage, (30 of them were just great) she wants to leave me. So keep that in mind with any high dose long term use. Side effect possibly lose your spouse or friends if they are not aware of what can happen to you.
To those of you on it, God be with you and stay strong. You are NOT going out of your mind, it is that some people do not understand.
Talk to you all later.

My seven month old son was prescribed Omnicef for an ear infection four days ago and it was the worst experience we have had yet...worse than colick and worse than reflux. My son who is normally extremely happy and easy going became a monster. He wouldn't eat, wouldn't drink and wouldn't sleep. He would throw a tantrum and swat his bottle out of my hand he wouldn't let me rock him or put him in the bed. He acted like he had gone mad and was very aggressive. It was a horrible experience. I called the doctor back after only one day of being on the medicine and they told me that these weren't side effects of the Omnicef and it was probably just his ears hurting to give it a couple more days. This behavior continued until today when I refused to give him another dose and told the nurse so...she asked if he was on any other cold medicine etc...and he wasn't so they prescribed him augmentin which is what we normally take and have never had a problem. I will never give this medicine to my child again and am not sure I will ever take it myself for sinusitis again either. He also experienced red looking stools but I can't swear that it was bloody but it was definitely a rusty red.

My 7 month old son has been on Omnicef for 1 week. He has had almost black stools and today he was very irritable. On the second day of taking the medicine he didn't want to eat anything. All day he has acted like he has had cramps and has been very gassy. Tonight he woke up with a fever of 102.7 and he just won't sleep. I called the doctors office and the nurse told me that he did't need to be seen until his fever was 103.5. I do not think that I like this medicine. This is his 3rd ear infection in 5 weeks. We need something to clear this ear infection up but I hate the way it makes him feel.

Seeing as im only 15 I didnt know how bad it could be. I was at my friends house and her uncle left the bottle in her room on accident. Befor he could relize he did that we snached the bottle up and took out a few. We washed them down and not too long after he came back to get the bottle we acted innocent. I started to feel dizzy while I was playing my video game. My neck was getting a little stiff too. My mom came to pick me up and I got in the car showing no emotion at all. I fell asleep in the car and when I got home I fell on the couch and fell asleep again. My mother told me to go to my room and I slept from 7am to 6:30pm that night. When I woke up I was suprised at what the time was and I called Mindy and she said she was asleep for two hours. I think there is nothing wrong with it if you dont take it often. If I was ever to take it again I would be really sleepy so it would knock me out.

Amazing stuff at this site. I have rheumatoid arthritis and am taking Pred, which acted like a miracle, stopping my excruciating joint pains and enormous fatigue. But even at the low dose of 5mg, I had frightening mood changes, irritibility, suicidal thoughts, reclusiveness, wanting to hide, and difficulty with abstract thinking. I reduced to 4mg, then to 3mg and suddenly I have returned to normal. I have much more energy, and the mental/emotional symptoms have gone. Prednisone is very powerful drug, but one that should be used with extreme care. My MD did try to bring down the dose as much as possible. My impression is that many MDs are prescribing much too much.

I was given Reglan as treatment for migraine headaches, and became very restless, depressed, angry, and had thoughts of suicide. I could not sit still or stand still, and nothing I did would make this feeling any better. This effect lasted for about 8 hours after the dosage. I didn't connect it with the Reglan until I took it a second time. I don't know if Reglan is similar to Compazine, but I was also given IV Compazine in the E.R. for migraine, and the effects were 10 times worse. I honestly think that if my husband had not been with me both times, and knew to look for side effects, I don't know what I would have done to end this horrible feeling. I found out later that my father had been given Reglan for his stomach, and ended up so depressed that my mother took his hunting rifle and all the knives out of the house because my dad was having thoughts of suicide. He ended up checking into a phychiatric hospital. When he got off the Reglan, he was totally fine and back to normal. When I told my doctor about these symptoms, the doctor chuckled and said, "I've never heard of that side effect with either of these drugs." My dad's doctor had the same reaction about the Reglan, but changed his mind when he saw how different my dad acted on Reglan as opposed to off Reglan.

My brother was prescribed Levaquin in reference to broncitis. He is a very mild mannered individual but suffered a violent and psychotic episode within days. He cited no sleep and delusions. He has never acted in this manner. Can any one help me figure out what's happened to him? He is looking at being institutionalized over this and losing his job.

I had two Kenalog injections (not sure of the dose) several years ago to help curb the effects of dyshidrotic eczema on my hands ... and wound up not ovulating for about three months. This had not even been brought up as a potential side effect when my dermatologist recommended the injections, and she acted as though it was a very small thing when I called about it later on. I was not given a drug information sheet (nor, I have to confess, did I ask for one).
In my personal experience, though, the relief from the pain, blisters, cracking and bleeding on my hands was worth not having a period for several months, but if you're trying to get pregnant or already have female problems (i.e., PCOS, etc.), I would make a point to discuss these things with your dermatologist and/or your regular care physician before progressing with the injections.
