My beautiful 11 year old daughter was on Adderall XR 20 mg per day for 4 years. After about 2 years she started to develop some minor facial tics. After 3 years the facial tics were worse along with severe head shaking and she also started to develop trichotillomania (obsessive compulsive hair pulling). The hair pulling continued until she was almost bald. Her grades began to drop and she withdrew herself from her friends and family. Finally, we took her off the medication in October 2007 at age 12 and she immediately stopped the tics and hair pulling. We have found 3 other families whose daughters have developed these same symptoms after being on this medication for at least 2 years. We have filed a report with the FDA as our own doctor had no idea that this medication was causing the hair pulling. Now 5 months later her hair is growing and the tics are approximately 97% gone. We have taken her to a homeopathic doctor and she is doing absolutely great now. Marks have gone up and she is smiling and socializing. I am so happy we have our daughter back. The side effects of this drug was definitely not work it.

My son has been on and off for almost 2 years now and we started on it when he was in 1st grade and now he's in 3rd we don't put him on it for the summer just for school purposes, but we tried other meds and they didn't work like Adderall XR 10mg a day. We were on 20mg way to much he wasn't active at all almost zombie like and very quiet, so we wanted him to still be a kid and be who he is, without taking that away. So, the dose that he is on now is working so far but you can definately tell when it is wearing off, he seems like someone else said very emotional and crying and agitated, I fell bad having him on this but if we don't his grades drop. He really has low self esteem too. He isn't hungry but he's able to focus and concentrate. The dr. says he has ADHA but I don't see the Hyperactivity? I see ADD. I recieved an article from a friend on bad things in children and adults who are on AdderallXR who have died. I am now concerned this is why I am writing this messge. If anyone wants the article I will be happy to email it to you, just email me ******

I get intense headaches and neck aches when I take Adderallxr and Adderall (i have tried both). when i stop taking it, after 2-3 days the head aches are gone, and the neck aches greatly diminished. However, I also take Isosorbide - a long acting nitrate like nitro glycerine. I have discovered that the two probably interact. if i stop the isosorbide, the headaches and neckaches are at a much lower level. I have found that relaxation techniquies help lower the neck pain and headaches also. I suspect that Adderallxr makes one more susceptible to anxiety (of which i have a lot right now due to challenges in job).
I also have trouble sleeping. I will try orange juice an hour before I go to bed to see if that helps.
When i get the dose right, Adderallxr is great. I am much more focused, calmer, and get a lot more priority things done. I wish I had known about ADD 40 years ago. I will somehow figure out the right dose and how to diminish the side affects. The benefits are too good for me to quit taking Adderallxr.

My son has only been taking Adderallxr for one month but already he has a horrible time with crying fits and he's been saying that everyone is too loud. He's always putting his fingers in his ears and his anger level has increased a lot.

My son has been on AdderallXR since he was 13, He is now 15. He's a Great wrestler,FootBall Player and Pitcher and theres no way he could stay out of trouble in school without the meds, much less keep his grades up to play his sports! However, I feel the medicine makes him kinda sluggish at times and it's keeping him from growing like he's suppose to.You know what do you do?Gotta have the Educ....Schol...
