My brother passed away at 56 of a stroke. So after having my blood tests done, everything was high, cholesterol, CR Protein....doctor put me on 20mg of Lipitor....the very first day, I had severe muscle weakness in my upper thighs, back of my calves, pain in my knees, pain in my wrists, pain in my fingers. What a nightmare. I tried it for two more days, called the doctor told him, he said reduce the dose in half........not a chance, I told him I believe in quality of life, not quantity of life. I'd rather be dead, then live like that.......and yet the doctor didn't tell me to get off of Lipitor!!!

Hi sorry this is not a side effect exactly but a complete and utter stuff up! I had my Mirena inserted in May, 2 weeks later I had a horrendously heavy period and severe cramping - I have never previously had a period that bad before that I had to lie down. Anyway I was supposed to get my Mirena checked but I had left NZ to go to the UK to watch my father die so I was obviously preoccupied. Anyway 10 days ago, after feeling sick and really tired all week, my breasts started hurting, I took a pregnancy test and I am 8 wks pregnant which is not a good thing. I've had a scan and they can't see the Mirena anywhere but have said it's quite hard to pick up on scans but they can't feel any strings either. So i'm assuming it came out at some point. I have also heard that in the UK women in their late 30's early 40's are having the same problem as apparrently it can be quite easy to dislodge it say when you've got constipation. So basically all you Mirena users be very careful and make sure it is still there! I have no come back on anyone and this was a very expensive mistake getting it put in and now having a termination.

Hi,

My wife started taking Yasmin about 2-months ago. After 2-weeks she completely lost her sex drive and ability to climax. She's very frustrated by it.

She has also experience the tenderness in the breasts that many people here have mentioned. Her appetite has increased. Her periods are thick, dark, and last only 2 days of low flow (this is very different from her normal cycle, which used to be quite heavy for several days).

She is trying to induce lactation (for adoption) and is taking Domperidone in combination with the Yasmin. I'm wondering if some of the side effects are diminished when balanced out by another pregnancy-related hormone. Remember, Yasmin makes the body think it's pregnant but it only gives a piece of the equation.

My wife will only be on Yasmin for 6-months as part of the inducement process, and then she will be off of it permanently. After reading all of the posts here, it looks like many of you suffer increased side effects after 6-months. Maybe this is a drug that should be rotated out after that time (in favor of something else). I don't know what the ramifications are of doing that, but it might be better than feeling like you've lost your mind.

Also, remember that your doctor WORKS FOR YOU. If you think that this product is the source of your symptoms, FORCE your doctor to change the medication, or simply fire that doctor and get another one. Ultimately, you are responsible for your health, and doctor's can be wrong.
