Advair inhaler symptoms and conditions

Hey all. I have had asthmatic bronchitis for about 6-7 weeks now and I have never had asthma or bronchitis before. It started off as a normal flu for 3 days with fever. Then when the flu went away, I started having trouble breathing and shortness of breath. It felt like I ran a marathon walking to the bathroom. I never had that before. The doctor told me it was bronchitis. All tests were fine. I was taking azithromycin (took 3 paks of them) and that was the only thing that made me feel normal, but it did not get rid of the infection. Then I was placed on cipro and steroids. Now I'm not on any antibiotics. I'm taking prednisone and just started the advair inhaler. I was having asthma attacks that I never had before. Very scary. Did anyone have asthmatic bronchitis before??? What did you do to get over it and how long??? Please help!!!

I was just wondering how long it took you to get over it and what you did to get over it. I have been to so many doctors and had so many tests done. It's affecting my life. I won't leave the house due to fear of having another asthma attack. I just hope I feel normal again soon, please.

Hi - I was on advair for a couple of weeks after a horrible bout of asthmatic bronchitis. I now have this constant pressure under my rib cage that will not go away. I was wondering if any one else has experienced this while on or after stopping advair. Thanks and happy holidays!

My daughter is ten years old and has had breathing problems since she was born, diagnosed with asthma/RAD when she was 2 or 3. She has been on several different medications since two or three including Singulair. To date she has been diagnosed with osteochondritis dissecans(bone necrosis in her knee), recurrent UTI's with kidney reflux and had a deflux surgery a few years ago, cold urticaria (hives when her body temperature is rewarming and vision problems. We just recently switched her Advair discus to a regular Advair inhaler with a spacer because her voice changed and had swollen tonsils for over two months. She has had stomach pains forever which I thought was from bladder infections but they are now getting worse with vomiting. After a few years I strongly believe that it is not from her bladder infections because she always has a trace of nitrates in her urine whether she has stomach pains or not. After reading the listings on this site I am definitely looking into this further. She has always had a very hard time with her emotions and anxiety and been very frustrated in not being able to control it. She gets headaches a lot. she also gets extremely bad cold sores. I am positive that these drugs we give are children need more long term studies to learn the short and long term-side effects. It is very frustrating to me that all these people have very similar side effects and nothing is being done. I just spent last night in the emergency room with my daughter having horrible stomach pains and vomiting again. No fever, normal stools etc. I will definitely be bringing this up ar our next doctor visit and be writing the manufacturer. Good luck to everyone out there. I am so upset just reading these posts! I started on a regimen of 500 mg of Levaquin on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 along with an Advair inhaler for treatment of a bronchial infection. On Thursday I started feeling twinges in my knees when I went up and down steps. By Sunday, I could barely bend my knees so I called the Pharmacist. She suggested it was the Advair so I discontinued using it but still called my MD in the morning. She prescribed massive doses of ibuprofen (800 mg) which in a 32 hour period did NOTHING to relieve the pain. If anything it has gotten worse. I spoke to a friend the same evening who said her husband had severe muscle/joint pain in his hands when he took Levaquin this summer. This morning I called my MD twice in tears (she didn't respond until 3:30 PM.) She still doesn't seem to think it's the Levaquin but told me to take Benadryl (after I told her that this is what my friend's husband's MD told him to do!) I am going in to see her on Thursday morning and I will go armed with these comments from all of you brave people who are suffering from the effects of this awful drug!

I was prescribed the advair inhaler about 2 years ago. I was diagnosed with acute bronchitis and the physician suggested it to me. I didn't know how it would change my life forever. I started using it immediately. Soon after I experienced severe chest pain, shortness of breathe, flu-like symptons, pain in my legs and hands. I encountered slurred speech and memory loss. I found it difficult to fall asleep as well as trying to stand up. I vomitted a lot and I was constantly clinching my chess. I thought I was losing my mind. I stop taking the medicine and went straight to the doctor. I receive to known reason for this strange side-effects. I just continue to heal from this devastating event. I thought my life would never be the same. I found strength in God and my family. I had to just let the effect wear-off. I had also had chest x-rays and ekg screenings but nothing conclusive. I was just another unfortunate person lingering at the hands of modern medicine. I still don't know why it's still on the market. I may have helped some with asthma but many of us are still recovering from the side-effects alone. I am still struggling today. I still have severe chest pain and pain in my fingertips. Normal breathing is still a challenge for me. I don't think I will ever be totally free of this nightmare but at least I didn't lose my life in the whole ordeal. And that alone is good enough for me.

I RECENTLY STARTED TAKING SINGULAIR AND I AM USING AN ADVAIR INHALER. I AM HAVING A STRANGE METALLIC TASTE IN MY MOUTH ALL THE TIME, AND FOOD TASTE METALLIC. HAS ANYONE OUT THERE HAD THIS SIDE EFFECT?

I suggest to anyone who is taking Advair, please stop taking this poison! Let me tell you about my life for the past week. First of all, I am 33 years old and in pretty good health except for asthma which I have had since I was 18. I have been on Advair for a little over a year. I was on Serevent before that. I also take Singulair which I love. Let me start with the past week of my so called life. After 3 weeks of feeling extremely exhausted and not being able to stand up without being dizzy, I woke up one morning and thought my heart was going to pound through my chest. I spent an entire day sitting in one spot trying to keep calm while my heart raced and skipped and pounded. Trying to sleep that night was a joke because there was no change . The next day I went to my Chiropractor/Kinnesiologist. His first suspician was my Advair inhaler. I really had him puzzled because my blood pressure was high for the first time ever and he could hear my heart skipping a beat. I did not think he was right about my inhaler because there was NO WAY it could be making me feel this awful.Yet over the entire week that he treated me he was still possitive that I was having a severe "chemical" reaction. On the sixth day of heart palpitaions, skipping beats, and no sleep ( I would try to sleep but every time I would start to doze off, an electrical charge would go through my body) I decided to go to my MD for peace of mind. My heart rate was alarmingly high but my EKG showed a very strong healthy heart! They put me on a holster heart moniter for twenty four hours. I am still waiting to hear the results. My doctor also lowered my dosage from 250/50 to 100/50 which I took only one day until I found this website. My inhaler went in the trash yesterday. I got my first nights sleep last night and today my heart is MUCH calmer. It is still a little shaky and I can't wait for this chemical to leave my system. Over the past year I have gone from a healthy, active 33 year old to a 33 year old in a 90 year old body. I have thought that I was developing Rhuematoid arthritis due to extreme pain in my shoulder, hands and neck. Then I was even convinced that I had Fibromyalgia. I have been so tired. I have had a rash develop that I could not explain on my arms and legs. I have forgotten what it is like to sleep a normal night. I believe that this is all the workings of Advair. I am in the process of finding out if I have any legal rights. This drug has taken a year of my life away since I feel like I have been in a fog. I forgot to mention short term memory problems. I did not agree to be a lab rat. Once again, if I had not found this website I don't know how long it would have taken me to figure it out or atleast believe my Chiroprator (Thank God for him!). Throw your advair in the trash where it belongs!!
