I found this website today and couldn't believe my eyes. Over the last month my daughter has been hospitalized twice, seen her OB, a gasterointerologist, had a CAT scan, vagina ultrasound, full blood work up and colonoscopy. No one found anything wrong with her. I never thought anything about the new pill she had been put on last month to better regulate her cycles. She has had severe abdominal cramping, breakthrough bleeding which we were told was normal till she got used to the new pill, nausea but still feels hungry, migraines, dizziness, blurred vision, 20 pound weight gain, acne which she never had before, red bumps which we thought was an allergic reaction to something and extreme fatigue. She had been feeling a bit better the last two weeks and we figured maybe she had had a bout of the flu. I dropped her off at college last Saturday and crossed my fingers. She called me today to tell me that it was starting again. I asked about her cycle thinking it might be PMS and she said that she had just started a new pack of pills. I did some searching and here was this website. I couldn't believe what I was reading. I immediately called the college infirmary and told her to stop taking Femcom immediately. I have forwarded this website to her so she can see that she wasn't crazy after all which was what all those doctors were starting to tell her. I wouldn't wish what my daughter went through this past month on anyone. DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG!!!!!

The Mirena was inserted in June 2004. All was good until last Summer. I started to put on weight, I went from a size 8 to a size 12. so I exercised even more and reduced my intake of carbs and fat. In fact I changed my diet, more veg and fruit. I have always had a great metabolism, but I have none at all. I thought it was a tyroid problem, but doing some research, where I seem to have the same symptoms that I had with the Depo, it made sense. Thus I am having it removed in August after my honeymoon. Unfortunately this all happened whilst getting married, so not happy. I would rather put up with periods, then be the fat person I have become. My husband had the snip, so birth control is not a worry. I know it is different for each person, we are all different afterall.. Good luck to all

Flowerbabies-
Posted to the site you created as well to see if others would like to weigh in on this:
lowerbabies-
so heres is what I wonder. If the chest pain we are both experiencing is in fact due to the loss of magnesium as part of taking this pill, than how many other women that are experiencing that are having direct heart damage and being told that instead, to cover it up, that it is anxiety and stress? I mean seriously? Afterall, if magnesium prevents the heart muscles from spasming-and Yasmin causes a deficiency in magnesium ......then what, I am wondering is the link to the week before our menstrual cycles that this chest pain shows up?
There is an article in Health magazine I read called A Woman's Heart. Basically cites/talks about the fact that the public nor most doctors are taking the time to understand the single largest killer of women in America-Betsy Berne was the example they provided and that often women do not take themselves and doctors do not take women seriously enough. She ignores her chest pain for a week. Then is encouraged to see an internist who detects a murmur. This is true in my case as well...., then they did an electrocardiogram, and a chest Xray to discover that her heart was enlarged. An transeophageal echocardiogram (a more invasive test) that required she undergo open heart immediately.
This article goes on to state how many women are often not taken seriously who complain of chest pain and are often misdiagnosed with panic attacks while what's actually occuring is a misfunctioning valve between the left ventricle and atrium-with severe leakage and improper blood flow. Ordinary MVP is nothing to worrry about . They say it effects between 5 and 20 percent of population-mostly women.
In this article she also mentions that classic symptoms for women are: chronic fatigue, shortness of breath, nausea, abdominal pain, dizziness, and swollen feet. Also advises that for women, who have smaller arteries than men, when they have a heart attack there is usually no plaque in their arteries-a heart attack is when one of the vessels occludes-and they're more prone to artery spasms.
Other symptoms/warning signs: uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, or pain in the chest that last more than a few minutes, or pain that spreads to the shoulders, neck and arms. Chest discomfort with lightheadedness, fainting, sweating or nausea. Unexplained anxiety or weakness, palpitations, cold sweat, paleness. Shortness of breath, chronic fatigue, jaw pain. Isn't this alot of what many women are describing experiencing?

I have been on Lisinopril for a year now, and I think I have been experiencing some of the same things others have written about here. I am on 40mg dose and it idoes a mediocre job at controlling my blood pressure.
When I lay down, which is alot because I think I am getting fatigue from the Lisinopril, my heart is pounding so hard in my chest...it keeps me from resting peacefully. When I am standing or sitting I rarely ever notice it. Like I wrote I think it causes fatigue. I would like to know what kind of rash anyone has developed. I have one that comes and goes on the inside crease of my right elbow area. I think it does does a fibromyalgia, as well.
I am glad I am not the only one....I am glad I found this site and know that other people are experiencing similiar things. I am NOT crazy afterall.

So saintmorrowind STILL isn't old enough to actually have people 'respect' his 'opinion'. Afterall, he's been on it SO many years and he's still only 23. What did you come toa forum called "singulair side effects" if you weren't searching them yourself? HMMMmmmm.....Don't knock others, if it works for you - fine. Don't judge. What works for one person does not work for another.
My daughter is having neurological 'twitches' from singulair. for the rest of the forum of people who are actually interested in possible side effects, her twitches are coming from the withdrawl of the med. I first noticed it when I forgot to give it to her one saturday night - she got mouth twitches and her throat (uvula) was actually twitching for hours - it was really wierd. Never thought about singulair. It happened again weeks later and same thing. She complains that she can't sleep - has anxiety, feels 'jumpy' - and has very vivid and scary dreams. It's not like her - shes been on it a year - I'm taking her off it - we are weaning - but she is having the withdrawl effects - I pray that it doesnt stick around.

hi sophie,
sorry to hear you are still suffering so badly, were you on yasmin for long? i was on it for 1.5 years and have been off now for nearly 6 months like you. i think it depends how long you took yasmin and how badly messed up your hormones have become. i'm not sure if i have replied to you before (i think i have ) have you had your thyroid checked? i ask this question of most people who are still feeling bad. your thyroid levels (tsh) should be in between 0.3 - 3.0 .most people feel best around 1 - 1.5. my thyroid was out of whack whilst on yasmin so i had a dose increase (i have hashimoto's) when i had my test 1 month ago it showed that i needed my dose reduced again so bcp's definately can effect thyroid function. thyroxine is afterall a hormone so it is quite likely that it has been effected too. Your periods could be an indication that all is not right with the thyroid. underactive tends to cause depressive feelings, muscle pain and heavy periods and also headaches. yours may be fine but it is worth ruling it out. the previous poster recomended prozac..i know nothing about it or any other anti-depressants as i never took them (apart from a short time on diazepam for my anxiety/panic attacks) but as she says if you are still not finding any relief from your symptoms it might be a route to consider (do rule out the thyroid 1st though). i read many helpful books that helped me learn to handle my anxiety/panic attacks and that has done wonders for me,even if i have a few bad days i KNOW they will get better and i just use what i have learned to work through it,it's not easy, some times are worse than others but i know i am getting better slowly. i hope this will be the case for you and that you will start to see some improvement in your symptoms. with regards to your periods it may be a sign that they are trying to regulate themselves again.mine were 28 days for the 1st 2 cycles but now can be anything up to 38 days apart and are so light they are gone within a day or 2. my periods were always regular as clockwork before i went on yasmin. even after i had my last child and breastfed for a year. as soon as i stopped feeding her my periods came back at 28 days on the dot, then i started taking this rubbish.
best wishes to you sophie.

I'm so glad that I found this website and realized that I am not crazy afterall. I am on my second pack of Yasmin but after reading this I am stopping today!!
I started taking Yasmin four weeks after delivering my first baby. i thought that I was going through some serious depression and was put on medication for that. i soon started having extremely horrible nightmares as well as being dizzy all the time. my husband kept telling me to check the side effects, but i never thought that nightmares and dizziness would be caused by my birth control. now that i now what is really going on i do not feel so bad about myself!

I have been on 20 mg of Lisinopril for 4 days, in supplement of taking Atenolol. I have experienced some dull headache pain, and some kind of ear pressure, like I'm underwater. I am monitoring my pressure myself, and it seems to be taking effect, although I don't feel quite like myself. My body is still adjusting to this medication, afterall, it hasn't even been a week. Is the benefit of lowering my BP worth the risk? Has anyone had a significant difference in their BP, as a result of this drug?

Hello Ladies!
I can't believe that it has been almost 4 months since I stopped taking Yasmin! I originally posted back in April with a myriad of side effects and problems that I was having being on this Hormone+Anti-Inflammatory combination pill. The first month off was rough, and I still felt weird at times. The second month was better, and now after 3 (almost 4) months I feel 100%. I attribute my feeling of 100% to drinking lots and lots of water (about 2 Liters/day) and working out several times a week. Since I'm not on Yasmin anymore, working out is much easier because I don't suffer from all of the muscle pain and fatigue that I did before.
I made a choice to not go back on hormonal Birth Control Pills ever again. Of course, this isn't a choice that everyone can make for themselves. It is a lot of responsibility being in a monogamous relationship and not being on a hormonal form of bith control. But, it's easy to rationalize being careful and taking the proper precautions when you know that you are Healthy and Happier not pumping your body full of artificial hormones.
My practitioner agrees that hormonal pills are not for me- and even appologized for allowing me to suffer as I did. Because I brought this to her attention, she said that she is sure to ask each one of her patients on hormonal birth control specific questions about how they are feeling. I guess I just thought that I felt "normal" after a while because I didn't know any better. Afterall, I had been on some form of hormonal birth control since about 16 years old, so for the past 8 years of my life I had grown accustomed to feeling like shit.
The worst is over for me, and I'm just happy to be able to let you all know what happened to me and alert you of my progress. I hope that you all take care of yourselves- and remember to not suffer silenty like I did, and many do, for far too long.
Much Love!

I was planning on transferring from Althea to Yasmin, but obviously, that won't be a good move from what I've read on your reviews and complaints. Because of that, I would suggest that you guys use Althea from the Trust Family Program. It's the cheaper version of Diane (Diane causes cyst in the breast, my friend has one). Diane and Yasmin are products of one company. Anyways, you might ask why I was planning to shift. It's because I don't feel any change while using Althea. I guess no change at all is better than bloating, having migraines, mood swings and whatever sife effects that Yasmin has. I guess I'll stay with Althea after all.
