I found this website by mistake and OMG i think it was mean't for me to find this. I have a 7 year old who has been taking SINGULAIR for 2 years. I never pin-pointed his behavior to his medicines(Singulair,Zyrtec,Nasonex). I feel terrible if this is why he has been acting out the last couple of years. He has been disruptive, aggresive, doesn't follow directions, complains of stomache aches, wets the bed, says he doesnt feel good. He has trouble sitting still and blurts out answers in school. We trusted our PED and assumed he would give us any info on bad side affects. I wished I would have checked into the a long time ago I feel terrible if this is what has been causing all this negativity. He also has "bad dreams" and has circles under his eyes that his allergist always said was "allergic shiners". I stopped giving him SINGULAIR a week ago but I havent noticed any big changes.Could anyone tell me how long it takes for this medicine to get out of a 7 year olds body? Thanks a concerned mother....

My four year old son has been taking Singulair for Astma and allergies for three monthes now. He has always been very bright, so when he could not answer simple questions, and started getting in trouble in K4 class, we wondered what was happening. We talked to teachers and were about remove him from the program. He has aggresive behavior, problems thinking or remembering, and generally crabby. He is complaining about night mares every night, and is tired. After reading all these comments, I think we are going to take him off and see how he acts in school. We will let you all know how things work out. Thanks for letting us know about Zyrtec, we will avoid this as well.

Singulair helped my asthma symptoms tremendously. i started on it about 4 years ago when my breathing was assessed as that of a 90 year old!!! ok i was 50 at the time.... My problem is that it does cause me to experience anxiety and makes me overly emphatic and aggresive when discussing/arguing a difference of opinion. When i stop using it, the anxiety and aggresivness go away. I use my regular steroidal type inhalers most of the time, but absolutely need singulair at times of the year (Winter) when my breathing gets bad; so i do have experience of going on and off the drug and how it effects me.

My 4 year old son has been taking Singulair for 2 1/2 years. It really helped with his seasonal allergies, asthma and a chronic cough he had. HOWEVER, he too became more aggresive, unfortunately, my sweet angel's personality change was not enough of a red flag for me. Over the past couple of months he's been opening and closing his mouth (tic like), eye blinking, teeth grinding, making sounds with his throat and nose. The more my husband and I talked about it we realized he had been doing some of these things longer, but they were subtle. Now they all came out at once. I have been crying my eyes out, feeling like a horrible mother - thinking my child is possibly developing tourette syndrome. We are do to see a neurologist in 3 weeks, but I just know that it was the Singulair.

My son has been takiing tripeltol for over a year, he is only 11 yeard old; he has been expresing extreme aggresive behavior in the last year or so. He can not communicate very well what he is feeling, but he is in extreme disconfort (unhappy, aggressive, mad, grauchy, etc.) I am starting to believe that trileptol is the cause; he is also taking geodon and abilify, which are suppose to control bal behavior. However, nothing is helping. Am I in the rigth track believing that trileptol is the cause of his bad behavior?

Our 4 year old son has been on this medication for 9 months. We have gradually taken him off it. Side effects: For the first couple of months, he seemed better. We then began noticing problems: difficulty sleeping, constantly agitated with increasingly aggresive behavior. Crying and saying, "my head hurts." He was coughing continuously, a loose, sloppy cough.
He has been off Advair for 3 weeks now. His peak flow is the same as when on Advair, the coughing has nearly stopped, and he is, once again, a kind and sweet boy.
