I was given 5 doses of Avelox for a bronchial infection along with an asthma inhaler (Symbicort). While taking the Avelox my hands were shaky, but not to an extent that it impeded my work (typing/computer operation, writing) or daily life. I did find it harder to concentrate and occasionally I would forget something I was about to do, which is not normal for me. I also found myself zoning out from time to time and having delayed reactions. I was still able to drive, but if you are just starting to take this medication, I recommend waiting to see how much your alertness is impaired before driving or doing anything that requires a lot of focus. After the 5 doses, I felt slightly better, but not as well as I expected. I asked the doctor about this and she said the antibiotics should stay in my system for up to two weeks and I should continue to feel better in that time. It's been a few days, and this seems to be true as I am feeling steadily better.

About 6 years ago started methadone for RSD 90mg a day with some relief
but was aware of no libido, sweats (thought from RSD), weight gain, lethargy and
speech- thought confusion, dropped to 40mg a day with great difficulty but pain remained pretty much the same, back up to 60mg daily but lethargy, tremors,no libido-- very low testosterone, anxiety over uselessness but methadone is cheap but now is ineffective. Added Ritalin for alertness but when it wears off I must sleep. Also don't like feeling of perhaps requiring uppers.very depressed (over statement) but I take 450mg of Wellbutrin. No end in sight, am 64 and married, wife understands but she is burdened and sad. Evidently no other solution. RSD resulted from coleus fracture 1/02/2001,right hand useless.

Since I have been on 20 mg of Pravachol, I have fallen once, feel wobly alot of the time and also have lower back pain. Worse in the middle of the night for some reason. Memory or alertness seems off also. Only been on Pravachol a little over two weeks. Not thinking I like these statin drugs at all.

I've been taking zoloft for about 4 days and I've felt almost like I was on meth for 2 of the days, and I lost a lot of my water weight(drink a lot of water with this) , sweating a lot, and just kinda tripped out. The mood change is crazy, I felt goofy out of the blue for no reason. I've been clenching my jaw and that guy was right, a little high grade marijuana goes a long way! Waking up suddenly but falling right back asleep, and kind of an alertness to everything.
Hopefully I level out, I have bad social anxiety which causes me to studder but this seems to be helping a little so far.
Does anybody know about drinking with this, is it safe to have a couple beers or do I have to stick to iced tea?

This is a nightmare. I have been on Lamictal 200 mg, tab in morning, for approx. 5 months. About 3 1/2 months ago I started getting muscles aches and weakness, muscle overuse problems, fluid retention ( like 12 pounds), stayed in a trance with very little short term memory. Thought it was everything but this medicine....I am an avid athelite, yes, even at 51. So, I blamed myself for not slowing down. Quick exercising totally, for 2 months, iced 3 times a day on leg muscles. Finally after making it to the summer without a mental breakdown, I went to the emergency room and a new internist to get checked out. Blood work, thyroid, hormones,ok.... Really don't care what they think , I can not walk, it hurts like hell. The Dr. did tell me to get off Lamictal....ok 7th day and I have some relief but it is not complete. Called manufactures, interesting, yes- these are side effects!!! But the studies are limited. Listen , unless you have seizures, get off this medicine... you read the full disclosure of side effects and then search yourself......It can ba a huge FOOOOOPA.....And you are the fool that will end up holdling the bag, not the manufacturer. Hopefully I will get better. Right now , I just trying to stay calm.

My MD gave me Wellbutrin samples to try to combat my depression resulting from legal woes back in Feb 2004. I took the med for about 2 days with no side effects. But on the 3rd day, I had a shot of whiskey - which I was not aware alcohol was a no-no when you're on these drugs, so I suffered a near seizure while driving on the freeway. My bp went up to almost 200/130 and I had to take Toprol after that episode. The things I remember the most while I was on Wellbutrin was that my adrenaline seemed to always be on overdrive, dry mouth, dizziness, high alertness and irritability.

the only side effect I noticed from prednisone was amazingly enhanced alertness... I was prescribed a gradually declining dose over a 10-day period for an acute lung condition. the lungs improved completely for a short duration (5-6 weeks), but the level of alertness I felt was unlike anything I had ever felt in my life; it was a zen-calm-like alertness, not a caffeinated-buzz-like alertness, and it truly felt like this is the way we humans ought to feel all the time; I sorely miss that experience!

Anxiety, panic, fear. Peak and extreme energy and in alertness after it was taken, followed by a dramatic crash around 12 hours later, into extreme exhaustion. Very dry mouth and eyes. Constant feeling of worrying, feeling that something was wrong. I could not figure out what it was, until my husband told me to check into my medication. Also trouble with my vision, my contacts would cloud up.

Started with 80 mg daily to treat kidney disease. Now down to 10 mg daily. Even though dosage is decreasing, side effects are increasing! Moon face, bloating of abdomen, thirsty, craving sweets, acute anxiety, paranoia, confusion, enhanced sensory perception and alertness but unable to do anything - totally inactive!

I was prescribed this drug for an upper respiratory infection...in its early stages. The first day I took it, it just about knocked out the infection so that was good. It kind of kept me awake at night but it wasn't an uncomfortable alertness. The one thing it did was to cause my limbs to go numb...like when you lay wrong on your arm and it goes to sleep. First my right arm then my left and then my left leg. Very wierd. It also made me very dizzy for a couple of hours after taking it. Like a buzz. Other than that it hasn't been too bad. I think I'll stop taking it anyway now.

I have the sour mouth, involuntary movements (hands, arms jerking) but the most troublesome and dangerous is the falling asleep without warning, anywhere and anytime. I have missed work because I crashed out in the staff lounge and couldn't get back to "alertness," and the worst is that big chunks of my days are GONE. Just GONE. It's as though I blank out and erase whatever part of the day is happening when the wave hits me. Some memories come back, slowly, and luckily I have patient friends who help me bring some memories back. I am Bipolar I, rapid cycling with mixed states thrown in. Lots of hallucinations, mostly auditory.
