My husband has been on Singulair for ten years now. It was a miracle drug for us as his asthma and allergies were ruining his quality of life. Little did I know that the Singulair would have such drastic effects as well. He is a police officer who has been through some traumatic events in his career. I attributed his irritability, depression, anger, severe nightmares, heartburn, weight gain, and puffy swollen eyes to post traumatic stress disorder. He stopped taking the medication about two weeks ago after his prescription ran out and he saw the FDA report. He is once again the man I fell in love with. Now I know what has been causing all of the changes in him, and we have decided he will never take Singulair again.

I started taking Loestrin 24 Fe two weeks ago today. I first accredited the bad period symptoms to just that, bad period symptoms, but after reading this, I realize it was the pill. I was paranoid and stressed out and cried three times, and for someone who's generally laid back and cries maybe twice a year, this was a little concerning. But, I'm willing to stay optimistic and chalk it up as being the first week on the pill to blame and not evidence of anything that will continue.
Yesterday, I had light spotting, but I assumed it was resultant from some rough sex my partner and I had had. Today when I wiped, there was a significant amount of dark blood and I've got cramps like I'm on my period. It's only been two weeks since my last one! I'm kinda freaked out and plan to call my doctor tomorrow morning to find out what's going on, but I'm assuming it's just an effect of the extra hormones that's got me jacked up. It's a little weird, though, since it resembles blood spotting I get halfway to late in my period week rather than the first day, because it's so dark.
Aside from the spotting, I've had a day where I had a horrible headache, but it was no worse or better than severe allergy migraines I've had in the past (it's fun being a severe allergy sufferer *snort, reassert glasses*.) I broke out along my jawline when I first started, but it was only slightly worse than what I normally get during my period. I haven't been bloated, but I do find that I have the munchies more often, so I'm working to control that to avoid weight gain. I have been a little moody and somewhat paranoid lately, but I think it's a combination of family stresses, finals, and basic worries that come with being in a new relationship.
It was mentioned earlier that the last four pills have iron in them, and it is important that you talk to your doctor or do a little diet research to determine whether or not it's even necessary because taking too much iron can be bad for you. They are there because during and around their periods, women generally are iron deficient, but if you are getting plenty of iron in your diet (especially if you take vitamins) you really don't need this extra dosage. That is, after all, what the Fe in the name is for, by the way. ;)
So, aside from seemingly having started a whole new period two weeks after my last one and having some mild mood swings and a single day of headaches, it hasn't been so bad. I had worse symptoms after taking ortho tri cyclen for three months. No pill is ever going to be completely symptom-free, so we must all keep that in mind.
I'll post when I find out more about this strange spotting deal.

This drug has not been properly examined in clinical trials. I will gladly suffer with allergies rather than suffer from anxiety and panic attacks caused by Singulair. It may be beneficial to some people, but not to me. Never again, Singulair.

I actually had no negative side effects when taking this medication. I was soncerned though, my Obstetrician prescribed this to me in my second tri-mester 17 1/2 weeks, and although it is working wonders (thank the Lord) I am concerned with warnings listed on the internet. Is this really okay? At any rate, I am a severe allergy sufferer and am surrounded by tree's currently pollenating and this med has offered me unbelievable relief. Thank you!

I cannot believe just how bad the moral decline in the world is. I know this may sound crazy to some but let me tell you it is not. The drug companies are absolutely criminal. It seems long-term studies are a thing of the past. Long-term studies were conducted to protect the consumer. If a drug proved dangerous in it's side effects, the drugs would either be not marketed or used under strict advisement and strict monitoring. Today, medicine is all about the money. I am a retired nurse. The many and varied crimes I have witnessed in my career would scare any sensible person into doing everything to maintain health without physicians, hospitals and medications. To find a good doctor who cares, who used his/her gift of discernment is nothing more than a hunt for something very, very rare. I am an allergy sufferer and was prescribed Singulair. I have been taking it for six weeks and for five of these weeks I have had laryngitis. Never have I had it before. I have been depressed. I feel like I am socially inept, I have had feelings of self-loathing, I am dizzy, clumsy, extremely forgetful, I feel like I am in a dream and that is just too weird a feeling when one is wide awake. I am sleeping long and hard, when I am on my way to bed I am afraid I will fall down because I am unnaturally tired. I am tired throughout the day. I have leg cramps. I am experiencing headaches. I sometimes have an unsteady gait upon walking. I experience pains in my abdomen. I am short of breath. I have had cardiac-like pains to my chest two to five times daily. I am touchy and angry all too easy. After reading the complaints listed on this website, I wonder if caring will ever, ever come back to the professions of medicine? This is a sad, sad state of affairs. Civilization needs to be recivilized and humanity needs to become humane. The wars aren't only in Iraq and Africa, we have wars everywhere....in our school systems, and in our health care systems....look and see who wins....it's always those who have the most to begin with.

Actually, the med is doing exactly what it is supposed to do. I am a terrible allergy sufferer. This medication has controlled my sneezing, runny nose and all around sinus problems by at least 75%. I strongly advocate this medication. Zero side effects for me.
