I am 39 years old; a great family and great kids. Went on Singulair about 2 years ago and am now facing a divorce and issues with my children because of my mood swings and depression. I have never had emotional issues prior to this and at this age and relative good health physically and financially be feeling this way. I am going to also talk to my doctor immediately. I don't know if anyone else feels this way; but I can feel the swings coming on; but just am helpless to do anything about them. As a child in the early 70's I was overprescribed sudafed, with many of the same results. It feels like it's not you.

Wow. This is exactly what I have been looking for.

I started Singulair about 3 to 4 weeks ago, and had an episode where I thought I was dying. My face and upper body got really hot, and I felt like I was going to pass out. I went to the emergency room, but they said I was fine. Then, about 2 days ago, it happened again. So, going on 3 days now, I've been "feeling my heart beat", and becoming randomly dizzy, and honestly, fearing an "impending doom". As if I'm having a heart attack or something. This, along with tingly arms and a general mind fog, where I don't feel like myself. I came across this page last night after looking up Singulair side effects, and it made me hopeful that I'm not going crazy.

I took my last pill early yesterday, but I will post my results as soon as this is out of my system. Wish me luck. And good luck to you all!!

I kind of think CNN and the FDA are intellegent enough to figure out that they should NOT get information off this website. What makes everyone think all these posts are real? First you have to weed out the pranksters who post here for fun, then you have to weed out the competitors to Merck who post here to bust chops, and then you have to weed out the ones who really have a psychiatric condition and get their jollies by posting made up stories.....shall I go on? This is the INTERNET people!!! Anyone with one, two or ten verifyable emails can sign up (I have 11 email addresses myself). I have been intrigued to see the same people posting under multiple user names. Then you go to the other boards and see them there. If you really study these messages you can figure them out. So my point is, NOT ALL THESES STORIES ARE REAL. I think I would be generous in saying 25% of these posts are legit. I would hope that no government agency or news agency is going to risk their reputation on a public forum message board.

My deepest, most heartfelt sympathy for all the horrific losses and suffering.
I wrote earlier, but I am so traumatized by all this... I can't write long now. Besides all the rest of the torture we've all endured, please let me know and do reply if tinnitus and/or hearing loss has been a major problem. Perfect a year and a half ago, I just had my hearing tested and have so hearing loss in my left ear only. Right ear is still perfect. Funny too... my newly developed tinnitus is also in my left ear only.
I am 50 with a bunch of problems from a head injury of 22 years ago and just within the last few year correctly diagnosed. My life is already destroyed, but about a year ago... it all started getting worse. Now, almost completely unable to function, I am trying to nail if the cause is the Singulair I stopped couple of nights ago and started maybe 2 years ago.
I need to determine (because they can find no cause) for the recent onset of the hearing loss and tinnitus... which someone described perfectly as a hissing sound, like someone is letting the air out of my head.
So please let me know if tinnitus and or a hearing loss seems a result of this miserable drug for you too... Thank you...

I've been diagnosed with anxiety and panic attacks since Nov. 15 2007 ended at the hospital emergency room, after using Xopenex been using Advair and Singulair due to my asthma once my Doctor increased my Advair from 250mg to 500mg twice a day on Sept. 5th 2007 noticed fast palpitations and overwhelming. Knew and complained for quite sometime that I wasn't feeling like myself. Since Nov. 26th 2007 I stopped taking Advair, Albuterol inhalers,Nebulizers due to the fact of my new Anxieties that I never had. Continued taking my Singulair medication thinking that it was safe. Only been on Singulair a little over a year. Still continued to experience Anxiety and Panic attacks. Due to this I've been seeing a therapist since Dec. of 07.Has affected myself, my children who have witnessed my episodes of Anxiety attacks and know thats not me.Also has affected my performance at my job and attendance. Just took two MRI's of the brain just last week thinking there maybe something wrong with my brain. My side affects have been Dizzy spells, feeling faint, blurry vision, extremely tired, muscle spasms, loss of concentration, and not being focused. These are my experiences with Singulair and I believe that the FDA should further investigate these allegations. I know for a fact I've been experiencing this for quite sometime and my Doctors tell me I'm just depressed. Ignoring the fact they prescribed me so many medications that trigger Anxiety depression and God knows what. Thank you Cita

My son has been taking Singulair for 3 yrs. He is 5 1/2 yrs.old and has been having difficulties in school this year. He has a difficult time focusing and following direction. We had him evaluated and the Dr. said he was just immature for his age. We let it go then recently he has been complaining of headaches and still sleeps with a pull-up at night. He has been diagnosed with asthma since he was a baby being born pre-mature and having RSV..His teacher had questioned several times regarding his medication, I told her he was fine. Having these problems lately with some new anxiety issues I now am certain it's from the Singulair!

I have been on Singulair for ten years or more. Six months later I was diagnosed with depression because I wasn't sleeping and felt tired. I was prescribed Paxil. I was sleeping less and had tremors. The doctor doubled the Paxil dosage and put me on anti-seizure medication. I stopped sleeping and checked myself into a hospital. They diagnosed me with bipolar disorder and prescribed Lithium. All this time I was taking Singulair.

All these years I would feel like some part of my thinking process believed it would be better if I was no longer alive. These thoughts felt very unemotional and detached.

When I heard about the possible connection, I immediately stopped taking Singulair. I know that they recommend you see your doctor first but I did it anyway.

All the thoughts of suicide have gone. My brain feels like you would feel if you recovered from the flu.

It has been a week now. I still take the Lithium. I don't want to risk a manic episode.

It would have been about 4 years ago My Doctor prescribed Singulair for my 16 year old son. He became very hateful and always in a bad mood and at times major fits of anger. At one point he got so angry ridding in the car together that I pulled over and made him get out and walk home in the rain because he was punching the interior of the car windows, and I was worried he would break them and hurt himself and others. He ran away from home....and so on...you get the drift. He quit the Singulair and is scared to take anything new now. He says he take Benadryl and uses Albuterol but won't take anything else. Now I started taking Singualar a year ago and I have done okay on it however I know that sometimes I snap at things that in the past I didn't. The funny thing is when the doctor gave it to me I mentioned to him the effects it had on my son and he looked at me like I was crazy!

I too have been taking Zocor for about two years and have experienced several of the same symptoms. I have pins and needles in my feet and legs, cramping and stiff neck and shoulder, as well as dizziness, and tiredness. I stopped taking it four days ago and have allready felt many of the symptoms fading.

I have stopped and started lisinopril twice now, and both times I have struggled with a huge depression, lack of motivation. I think this drug is causing it, but how, why and what else can I take? Has anyone heard if this drug makes allready high blood sugar higher? My blood sugar has gone way up, with no other changes.
