In 2003 I started having panic attacks that lasted for 10-12 hours. My family doctor put me on Zoloft. I don't remember the dose, but think it may have been 10 mg. I became horribly depressed and had a severe aversion to eating. This is the exact opposite of my usual self. I fell into deep depression, to the point where I just laid on the couch. I lost 30 pounds in a month. My husband called my parents over, and they all said I had to go see a psychiatrist or they would put me in the hospital. I chose the first, and he put me on Xanax (alprazolam). Within 48 hours I was my old self. Unfortunately he prescribed the Xanax extended release ( just new on the market, so he got a kickback) and I suffered needlessly for months with delayed release of the medication and horrid expense. I finally asked my family doctor if there was a generic, and she said it had been around for years. For pennies a day, I have great relief. I have managed to wean myself down to 1 1/2 mg. a day, and can add more if going through a stressful time. We all have different reactions to meds. For me, Zoloft was a nightmare.

I don't know if this is caused by Budeprion or not but shortly after starting about a month ago I began having extreme difficulty swallowing, usually in the evening. I was taking 100mg and my Dr. bumped me up to 300XL last week. I was already having the swallowing problem, though. It seems to get better if I take a Alprazolam (generic for xanax). I hope this isn't a panic attack type problem. Has anyone had this type of problem for any reason? It is really scary. Thanks for any reply.

So...
The Geodon seemed to make me too drowsy and I felt it was causing my sleep issue. I couldn't wake up in the morning. It was like I was still in REM while trying to wake. I could sleep until 12 noon and then realize I was late for work. Adderall barely seemed to help anymore.
After swearing off medications forever, I finally hit rock bottom realizing that my BiPolar had gotten the best of me. A DUI, WAY BAD CREDIT...I dug my self a hole of DEBT! My compulsive EVERYTHING had dug me a hole that thank God my Mother is still willing, after 22 years, is willing to help pull me out.
On my own, no psychiatrist involved, with my samples of Geodon and a prescription of Adderall provided by my primary care physician...I decided to go back on medication and so far...a week into it, I have noticed a significant difference...and so has others. Yes, I still might not want to wake up in the morning, but I am able to effectively work and actually somewhat enjoy doing it. I feel like I want to do things where as before...I just wanted to sleep or lay on the couch watching TV. I want to have a future and I want to better myself, where as before I wanted nothing but another drink and some pills. I feel that my quality of life has already improved and I hope with seeing my new psychiatrist on Tuesday, he might better my therapy.
Here is my current problem before asking my doctor.... hadn't taken any adderall for days. I took the Geodon at night, 60mg one day and 80mg the next thinking it might help with my sleep but it didn't do a thing. I Then the next day I took adderall around 7AM and 80mg of Geodon about 9PM and I couldn't keep my eyes open about 1-2 hours after taking the Geodon and I over-slept that morning and didn't wake up until after 10:30am when I am suppose to be at work at 9:00am.
Is it common for the extreme drowsiness to occur with the combination of Adderall in the morning and Geodon at night? I know before when I took both never missing either one, I was always extremely drowsy and that's one of the reasons I stopped taking meds. But after experiencing Geodon without adderall, I am wondering if the TWO don't mix well.
PLEASE HELP.

In August 2005, I nearly fainted from dehydration and went to the ER. I am a 47 YO Female and perimenopause may be a factor in my condition. At the ER, they found my BP was 230/130 and put me in the hospital overnight until I could have a stress test late the next day. Then I was put on 25 mg Toprol. My BP came way down, but within a week or two, I was lethargic, couldn't wake up, had no personality, couldn't accomplish the most mundane things. I also had frequent panic attacks that would send me back to the ER with BP in the 200 range. At the beginning of Nov., I went to 1/2 Toprol (12.5 mg) and felt much better (better than dead, that is) but still had surges in BP to 200 3 or 4 x a month; depression, and lethargy. At the end of Feb, my doc had enough, and this is day 3 w/o Toprol---I take Alprazolam 3X a day until we figure out what is next. Eating high-potassium foods, no alcohol, no caffein, has my BP in the 125-140/70-90 range the last few days. I FEEL LIKE A HUMAN BEING AGAIN! The headaches are awful, but I don't care, and they are getting better. Toprol is a bad drug because it stops adrenoline instead of regulating it. None of my friends on BP medication of other types have these problems! Get off Toprol!

I became addicted to this med. It's easy to get dependent on it, both psychologically and physically, is what I found.
Would take it while at work, to "reduce stress" but had total loss of memory while using it. Not good, if you are a nurse and can't remember whether or not you've taken care of something.
I hope to NEVER use this med again, especially since I drank with it, all the time.
Am now in AA and don't use mood altering chemicals. Thank God.
My sister is now hooked on Alprazolam and won't hear my warnings about it. I wish they'd take it off the market.

Oh also, my sister suggested I stop taking Alprazolam and begin Lexapro while attempting to stop with the Alprazolam, so now I am taking both. Is this safe to do- take both?

I've had prescriptions for alprazolam for over 3 yrs. I love this drug more than sex, food, vacations- it's the best feeling in the world to me. I can go places I normally feel uncomfortable, like a sports bar. The only bad part are the seizures when I run out- I can't hold onto a bottle loger than half a month- and I get over 100 mgs- I've had one on the beach, in a car, at 2 different jobs, in the shower- I've gotten better, though. Now, I taper off as much as possible- Xanax is responsible for the loss of my truest, longest love, my car, my best job, my independence/apartment, friends, family, money, reputation-- but I still love to take my Xanax tea and listen to music and see where the day takes me more than anything else- Oh yeah- it also makes me crave going to Manhattan to walk from one end to the other with my headphones- my advice-- never run out and always taper off halving for at least 5 days and finish with small amounts, even .25 for a week. I'm currently on 3 sticks a day :) Maybe the next seizure will kill me, but I'll go happy. One really great side effect is the memory loss- all the stuff that used to depress me has burned away.

Been taking Zolft now for 3 month. I was on xanax for years. In my opion the xanax was much better.
The side effects on Zoloft that I experience are : lack of sleep, vivid weird dreams, joint pain. The first 3 days while still taking 25mg I was at work and felt like someone had put a flame thrower to my head , I felt like I was sweating profusely but was really dry. I still take 50mg but at night time before I goto bed this solved the problem of feeling bad at work.
This drug however is a sex drive killer !! But read the reactions on the other med's you take and they are very much alike..
Good luck to all taking this med it affects everyones chenistry differently.

I have been on Wellbutrin SR for 1 year now. 100mg once in the morning. Have had 18-20 lb. weight gain, more anxiety(take alprazolam at night to help me sleep due to anxiety).I also at times hear a faint "door bell ringing" and am very short tempered towards my family.. Massive insomnia. I am trying to wean off and start over, but am experiencing major heart palpitations/anxiety along with alot more sleep issues. I don't know if my weight gain if from wellbutrin or alprazolam? My doctor said it was neither and it was because i'm in my 40's now. Wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!! Something is not right.
