Here's my horrible experience w/ Doxycycline Hyclate (100mg prescribed 2x day)
I only took 3 doses of this and vomited one of those.(there appeared to be blood in vomit) I was taking this for pelvic infection. I had severe nausea that came in waves. I also had severe drowsiness to the point that I could not lift my head up. I felt a sense of being "out of body" and extreme dizziness that almost made me feel like I was falling. I had confusion, disorientation, forgetfulness, and an inability to concentrate. I felt bone chilling cold, that alternated with sweating and hot flashes. My face, hands, and arms became puffy. I was very drowsy but could only sleep a couple hours due to insomnia. When I did sleep I had very weird and vivid dreams. I also felt a general sense of panic the day after I stopped taking it. This stuff was nasty and I will never take it again.
It is wonderful to have a forum like this to share stories and complaints but NOTHING WILL ACTUALLY BE DONE UNTIL REPORTED TO FDA. It takes many people reporting symptoms for Fda to even care or take notice. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP YOURSELF AND OTHERS BY REPORTING TO FDA. Go to www.fda.gov/medwatch. It is really simple to do and this is the first time I have ever reported anything. (and first time I had any major drug reaction). It is also confidential.
My experience on this drug after only 3 doses was very scary. I hope I will feel better soon. It is 1 1/2 days now after last dose. I will try to report back on here when I am feeling better. The half life for the med is about 18 hours, which means by tomorrow I will still have 25% left in my system. I am hoping after 2 more days I will feel back to normal. I have had as much water as I can tolerate and took dandelion root to help cleanse my liver. Take care everyone and remember to report any symptoms you had to the FDA at www.fda.gov/medwatch

My 7 year old female Siberian Husky, Niceah is suffering with her second serious flare-up of IBD. She was taking 20 mgs. of prednisone every 12 hours for several days. We are now down to 12 mgs. daily and working towards 12mgs. every other day. She is lethargic and her body and belly have swollen frightfully to the point where it is difficult for her to lie down without grunting and sighing. She pants heavily. She drinks and eats constantly. Her nose is dry. Her tummy grumbles all day and night. I have been boiling chicken breast and mixing it with sweet potato and Enzymes & Probiotics. I am currently working with a holistic advisor concerning Niceah's diet once she has weened off the prednisone. The side effects of this drug are frightening and I am so worried that something more permanent and damaging will occur. Has anybody experienced this?? If so, I would appreciate any advise. I've never responded to a site like this, but now feel compelled to. I had my Mirena fitted 13months ago, after a friend recommended it on the strength of her excellent experience with it. I was on anti-depressants already, so haven't felt an overwhelming sense of depression, but have been thinking for the past 10 months or so, that I get way more tired, have an overall achy body often, painful joints and swollen ankles. All stuff I never experienced before. But the thing that really did it for me was the weight gain. I was only slightly over normal weight at the time of insertion but have been gaining weight steadily. Initially I thought it was just a bit over over-indulgence, but after weighing myself last week, I've made the horrifying discovery that I've gained 13kg in 13 months!!!!!!!! I've never fluctuated more than about 4 kg in my whole life, eat healthily and am normally active. Nothing has changed to what I was eating/doing before. I specifically searched the internet today to see if weight-gain is a problem. It's not listed as a major side-effect on the 'official' sites, yet I see it on many of the postings on this one.
And for those of you who are into alternative therapies, I had myself checked with a kinesiologist for dietary intolerances/allergies that could have caused this weight issue, and what came up is that the problem is progesterone. When she checked if my Mirena was a problem for me, it came up VERY positive. When checked if I should have it removed, the response was equally positive.
It's a pity, as I had none of the other problems mentioned and it's such a convenient method of bc. But in my case it's coming out, before I have to come out as a seriously obese 41 yr old!!!!!

My little boy who is now 4 has been off the Reglan for two years. I really thought my husband and I were doing the right thing by putting him on the Reglan at 8 months because he was vomitting blood. The gastric doctor said he had to be on it plus prevacid .Well I WISH WE HAD KNOWN THE SIDE EFFECTS. Now my son is in the process of going to a Neurologist next week because they think he might have Tardive Dyskinesia . He has the symptoms of it on and off for a year now and the doctors have said it is from stress not possible because all of the stress therapist we have taken him to say he is not stressed. I would like to say one thing do not put your child on this drug because it could be the biggest mistake of your life . This is a disease that can not be curred.

I RELUCTANTLY BEGAN 10 MG OF LIPITOR ABOUT A YEAR AGO. I WAS EXPERIENCING FATIGUE AND UNUSUAL MUSCULAR ACHES AND PAINS SOMETIMES WITH HEADACHE. MY DR. WOULD TELL ME TO STAY OFF THE LIPITOR UNTIL MY SYMPTOMS WENT AWAY. IWAS DIAG
NOSED WITH MILD SUB ACUTE HYPERTHYROIDISM AROUND THE SAME TIME . I BELIEVED THAT THE MUSCLE ACHES AND WEAKNESS WAS FROM THAT. SINCE MY LIVER TESTS WERE NORMAL I NEVER GAVE MUCH THOUGHT UNTIL NOW THAT IT WAS THE LIPITOR CAUSING THE PROBLEMS. I HAVE BEEN TO
A ORTHOPEDIC SPECIALIST AND HAVE HAD TO HAVE MRI'S
X-RAYS ETC. THE TEST SHOW MOSTLY DEGENERATIVE CHANGES AND ARTHRITIS. I AM 52 AND WAS WATER SKIING ON 1 SKI A YEAR AGO,CLIMBING THE WHITE MOUNTAIN APPALACHIAN RANGE, AND MOUNTAIN BIKING AND SKIING SUGAR LOAF USA IN MAINE ON BLACK DIAMOND TRAILS. I FIND IT STANGE THAT I HAVE BECOME A DEBILITATED OLD WOMEN FEELING LIKE 90 IN A SHORT TIME AFTER TAKING LIPITOR. MY DR. CHANGED ME TO CRESTOR. I STILL WAKE UP ACHING AND LIMPING. I CANNOT GET 15 MINUTES INTO THE MORNING PAPER WITH OUT INTENSE PAIN AND STIFFNESS ALONG MY WHOLE SPINE FROM COCCYX TO NECK. WHEN I READ THE SYMPTOMS DESCRIBED ON THIS WEBSITE I WAS SO SURPRISED TO HEAR OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING WHAT I HAVE. IF ANY ONE KNOWS OF ALTERNATIVE THERAPIES I WISH THEY COULD SHARE WHAT THEY KNOW.
