Hello everyone. Thank you for sharing your stories. I no longer feel so confused as to what I am experiencing while on Prednisone. I was prescribed this medication for my back (I have a ruptured disc). I am 24 years old. I took a short five day treatment of prednisone about three weeks ago. I was very foggy and forgetful. I was tired and bloated. The worst side effect I have noticed is ACNE! Oh my gosh, I haven't ever experienced a breakout like this before. This breakout is a continuous side effect long after I stopped taking the drug. I went to the doctor again yesterday for a check up on the status of my back injury. He has prescribed a THIRTY day treatment and even more aggressive approach with prednisone!!!! I am so scared to start this treatment because of what I have already experienced. HELP! Does anyone know if the acne will clear up? Will it scar? Does anyone have any tips on this?
Thanks.

I've had Mirena for 4 1/2 years. A doctor in Australia recommended it to me since I was very sensitive to birth control pills and could not use them. Yes, it hurt the first 3 months, but no more than the years of painful cramps I got every month with my periods. Now I have no cramps, no periods, and none of the craziness that accompanies it. My doctor used a local anesthetic when she put it in, which sounds like it is the best way. I would recommend that to anyone considering having one put it. I just wanted to let people know that there are some people who have positive experiences with it. I have not experienced weight gain, acne, moodiness or loss of sex drive. But as we all know every womans body handles things a little differently!
I'm very lucky to have had it inserted in Australia because many American doctors will not give it to women who have not had children.

I am 47-year old, male. I started taking Singulair about 4 months ago to treat my allergy. I had very bad running nose and itchy eyes and was sneezing a lot. None of the antihistamines were effective. Amazingly Singulair has been very helpful. I stopped taking it few days ago thinking my allergy has gone as the season has gone. But everything is back. After reading these much about the side effects of Cingulair, I am scared that it might be dangerous to continue taking it. I have not experienced any bad effects, but don’t know to tolerate the allergy symptoms or keep taking Cingulair. Is there anyone who has had no bad experience with it after taking it for a long time? Please advise. Thanks.

It seemed to begin with a 2 day headache. As I had a severe UTI, I was not sure if the symptoms I was having were because of the Levaquin or the infection. The headache was the first "unusual" symptom I had within 1 hour of taking the Levaquin. Then the muscle aches, tendon pain, arches of feet hurt, arthritis in hands became more painful than I had ever experienced, very fatiqued, skin sensitive to touch, tingling sensation on arms, racing heartbeat (may have been due to anxiety of other symptoms). These symptoms continued for 6 days until 24 hours after stopping medication. I discontinued it after researching side effects on internet as Patient Information sheet that came with medication was vague. I still have tendon pain in left elbow, and arches of feet. Amazingly, I have had knee surgery and back surgery, but neither of these areas seemed to have been affected. Still don't feel "right", but hopeful will continue to improve.

I was diagnosed with asma last year, and was prescribed Advair. It works amazingly on my breathing difficulties when jogging, and I really can't breath easily when I run without using it twice daily. One noticable side affect though, is that I have gained 20 pounds since starting the medication without altering my eating or exercise habits.

I started Singulair in the spring of '05, when my pollen, dust and cat allergies were causing my asthma to really flare. It worked amazingly well, though I have not taken any other prescription asthma meds to compare it to. Then after a couple of months I started noticing the muscles in my legs feeling very tight. I started getting cramps when I went running, which never happened before. Then I got cramps in bed at night. One day, I squatted down to get something and the tight muscle in my quad made a popping sound and I couldn't get up without great pain. I went to the doctor and it turned out I had torn a muscle. I ended up having three months of physical therapy, and that muscle still hurts a little bit even now, nine months later. I never had bad muscle tightness or cramping before I went on Singulair. Also, I did notice myself becoming more irritable and angry--and so did my husband. I stopped taking it, and the cramps and anger went away. Of course, the congestion and asthma returned, but that's better than what was happening. Bad stuff!

Ovcon 35 made me irritable, anxious and i got my period after 17 days. my obgyn gave me then Ovcom 50 which gave me assive panic attacks, nausea and paranoia. I stopped it immediately and gave my body a month before i tried the Mirena IUD which sent me to the emergency room for removal because of anxiety, paranoia and the feeling i was going crazy........ 5 hrs after it was out i felt much better. As a result of all the hormonal manipualtion my obgyn had to put me on a anti-depressant which is working amazingly. LADIES be careful and listen to your instincts, you are not crazy and this is very real. It may work for some but not ALL. Hang in there and get help immediately if you are feeling out of control. Good luck.

Hi! I'm usually a very positive and fun person to be around. I have neen on ultracet for ten days due to severe neck pain. the drug made me feel goofy and it did not eliminate all of the pain so I stopped taking it four days ago. Since then, I have been extremely depressed to the point of suicidal thoughts....I wouldn't do it, but I've sure thought about it. I am almost totally emotionless, i hate being around people, and I had a horrible automobile accident yesterday and it was like....oh well, no big deal.....luckily, no one was seriously injured. It was my fault and i was amazingly emotionless. I'll never take ultracet again.

I've been taking yasmin for a little over a year and finally asked my dr. to switch me. While on Yasmin, my period would start a week early and last for 2 straight weeks, with the 2nd week flooding terribly. It cleared up my acne amazingly, but I too suffered from anxiety and paranoia while on it. I'm dealing with other side effects on this other one, so i may just ask my hubby to get snipped instead of this torture.

the only side effect I noticed from prednisone was amazingly enhanced alertness... I was prescribed a gradually declining dose over a 10-day period for an acute lung condition. the lungs improved completely for a short duration (5-6 weeks), but the level of alertness I felt was unlike anything I had ever felt in my life; it was a zen-calm-like alertness, not a caffeinated-buzz-like alertness, and it truly felt like this is the way we humans ought to feel all the time; I sorely miss that experience!

My sister and I are both on doxycycline for our acne. My sister is not taking it anymore because she is having chest pains although she's been off the medicine for three days now. This is my second time taking this medicine. The first time I took it I had to stop because my hands got severly burned by the sun. My hands still feel weird, but it's winter and I've been very careful with sunscreen and wearing stuff to cover my skin if I'm in the sun. This medicine works wonders on acne. Out of everything I've tried my acne improved amazingly. I guess living with irritation in my hands is worth it for me, but hopefully my sister's chest pains will go away.

I DO NOT recommend Desogen!!! I started taking Desogen because it was cheaper through my university health center. I started off fine...then the second and third week I began getting extremely tense in my neck and shoulders, severe headaches, I had nausea for 2 weeks straight. My eating habits changed dramatically - I began to constantly think about food and get terrible cravings. I had no self-control when it came to food. Everytime I ate, even when I was extremely hungry, I became very bloated. I could have a couple bites of something about feel like I spent 3 hours at a buffet. My breasts increased in size and I gained weight due to the change in eating. My sex drive is low - my boyfriend and I used to have sex regularly but I have not had sex in 23 days - he's been keeping count :(. I am very emotional and depressed sometimes. During these two weeks, I have random pains in my abdomen that feel like cramps I would have during my period. I didn't have any kind of spotting or anything and it wasn't too heavy when I was on my period. I also have very loose stools - often diarea (sp?) then I'll take Immodium and get really constipated. I have almost all of the symptoms of pregnancy but there's no way I'm pregnant - it's this stupid birth control. I know that most medicines take 3 months to get right in the body but I stopped my second month. I couldn't handle it. I stopped last night - right before the start of the 3rd week. I feel amazingly better even the day after - I still feel bloated and stuff though. Don't take it unless you want to feel like you are sick 24/7.

it's the first day of my period (on the 4th day of the pill-free week) following my first pack of yasmin (after 3 unsuccessful months with nordette). i began the pill 4 months ago after an unfortunately unwanted pregnancy, and have been having trouble finding one that my body accepts. compared to the last one, yasmin seems much better so far (except for the price differential). because i live on an island, nausea/sea-sickness is a HUGE nuisance... but so far, i feel ok. the past few days, however, i have been feeling very sleepy and tired, not much energy to even walk my dog. i sleep at least 10 hours a night, sometimes with a 1 hour nap during the day.

the vaginal dryness, however, creates problems. although my sex drive hasn't exactly dissipated, the dryness is another nuisance. i have some irritation, also, which probably became infection.

because it's so early in my experience with yasmin, i'm not sure if i'm really gaining weight, and if i am, is it because of the pill or my inactivity (or both)? as of the past few days also, however, my appetite has taken a very noticeable nosedive.

my period used to last for 7 long and heavy days. since i started the pill, it still lasts for 7 days but is amazingly lighter. the cramps aren't so bad with yasmin; much more bearable than with nordette and without BCPs.

so far, it hasn't been so bad... but i realize it's still early. i will keep my eyes open. thanks for all the posts from other yasmin users (and former users)!

well about eight months ago i got into a horrible atv accident were i slammed into a barbed wire fence and split my neck from ear to ear, amazingly my arterie was exactly the thickness of a paper from being touched by the wire, im only fifteen and ive gone through more than others. anyway roxicet was a drug given to me two weeks after continously taking morphen and dermatril. when they started giving me it for the first time i was pretty dissapointed beause i thought it wasn't going to take the pain like morphene, apparently i was wrong. although not as strong it gave me an extremly happy feeling inside like everything would be alright, i swear i could go up two anyone and say i love you because it made me feel so good. when i got a 500 ml bottle of it to take home i would take it and just stay in bed for four hours thinking about anything that came to my head, my entire body would just cool down and id feel so so so relaxed. if you never tried it at least you got a description of it

I took Levaquin - which has been very effective for me, with no yeast infections for a change - for a bronchitis I had a week ago. I am 67 and got it from my preschool granddaughter. Usually, I take this for occasional Urinary Tract Infections, and since I tolerate it so well, my Dr. prescribed it for the bronchitis. After 3 days I began to notice my knees were hurting terribly, and I had lots of muscle pain. I didn't know it was possible side effects from the medication until I read this website. I think it's an amazingly beneficial drug for infection, but I now know I have to report that as a side effect to my Dr. (Stopped taking med 2 days ago; no more knee or muscle pain)

Even though it works amazingly to control my asthma I have suffered from insomnia, exhaustion, acne, mood swings, and a significant weight gain. I work out like a crazy person and live on lettuce and am still gaining. I was never told by my Dr of these side effects. I am at least relieved to know that I am not alone. I have been off Advair for only a couple days now and already feel a shift for the better in my health.
