I've been sick for 22 days. I was told I have tonsillitis and was given Amoxicillin but did not get better. I had a cough that did not go away. I went back in and was told I had bronchitis even though I had no fever. I was given the 6 pill Z-Pak treatment - 2 pills the first day, and then 1 pill each of the next 4 days. They had me stop the Amoxicillin. Both all day yesterday and all day today I've had diarrhea. Watery and frequent. Not fun. I also have no appetite, not sure if that is from the bronchitis or the drugs. Half a serving of soup all day and I had to stop eating. I recommend the soft wipes with aloe in them, as I am very sore back there. However, I must say, if my bronchitis is gone in 2 or 3 days, then the diarrhea was worth it. I can't stand being sick any longer, and can't stand the congestion that is in my chest!!! I've only taken the Z-Pak once before, a while ago, I forget if there were side effects, but I seem to remember it worked.

While I have taken it before, I don't recall having anything but very mild side effects (maybe a little discomfort in my belly). This time, however, it is different and I am owing it to the beauty of aging. I just took the second of the three pills (and yes, I've had the three pill one before). My bronchitis is clearing but this afternoon I had really bad abdominal pain and I have a continuous headache in the back of my head, where my spinal cord ends. It is not as bad (so far) as the one I had with Biaxin (I refuse to take that). The only bright side is that it made it a really good time to join Weight Watchers because I do not have much appetite. I was able to sleep last night, at least, because my cough decreased. The verdict is still out on whether I would do this again. Problem is, I am allergic to Penicillin.

My 4 year old experienced night terrors and extreme night sweats from amoxicillian. She also got rather drowsy. My son broke out in hives the very first time he had it, which is extremely rare and means he's severely allergic to it.

Seeing as both me and my husband are allergic to it as well, we'll keep our whole family away from it.

I have most of the symptoms of all of the above. The weird dreams, severe headache, extreamly painful neck and arms. I didnt have any of these things before taking levaquin. I dont evenknow why they put me on it because I have always responded well to amoxicillian. To late now though. I have been off of it for about three weeks and the pain is just as severe as when I was taking it. Does anyone know how long it takes to clear up. Is there anything we can do about this? I cant believe so many people have the same symptoms and the professionals dont question the drug.

I have been reading all the mail on this site. I BELIEVE in Levaquin!!!! I have chronic sinus infections and am allergic to sulfa antibiotics. I do NOT have the side effects everyone talks about. Without Levaquin I would NEVER get over sinus infections and everything else that they lead into. Amoxicillian, Augmentin, Biaxin, and Cephzil are all good antibiotics, BUT they only prolong the pain for me. LEVAQUIN is the ONLY antibiotic that works for me and I cannot get over infections without it!!! I suggest people who are prescribed Levaquin and they do indeed have reactions to it, DON'T KNOCK IT... just get another antibiotic. There are others out there who need it like me!!.

My 10 month old was prescribed Omnicef for a severe ear infection that actually burst his eardrum. By day 4 he had the dark maroon in his stools. This is day 7 and he had the worst, most substantial diarrhea diaper I have ever seen in a child. That was this morning. After his bedtime dose and a bottle, he threw up the whole bottle and everything he ate all day, which was not much, thank god. We did not have any trouble like this when he had Amoxicillian for his first ear infection.

THRUSH IS POSSSIBLE SIDE EFFECT

Hello again,

As I stated before, I was diagnosed with Thrush; a fungal infection in my mouth. This is a direct result of all the antibiotics I have consumed over the past few months. I have been on levaquin, (both iv and tablets), Flagyl(Iv and tabs), Zitromax, Rosephin injections 7 straight days, amoxicillian, etc.

Thrush first reared its ugly head when I noticed my Coca Cola didn't taste right. Then next symptom was my tongue burned. I at first acredited this to hot peppers I had consumed the night before...LOL!

When the burning did not cease over night and I could not talk right, I investigated on the internet and found thrush. I do have it. White patches on my tongue. White patches in my mouth. This fungus can spread down your throat and cause major problems as you can well imagine. It can also cause a systematic yeast infection, which will spread through your bloodstream and could in fact KILL you if not treated. IF you suffer from a burning tongue, white patches, funny tasting foods, etc, after taking antibiotics of ANY kind, seek medical assistance. YOu need a prescription for Nystatin liquid to swish in mouth and swallow, you may also need an oral antifungal (possibly Difulcan), and you can also help your body by eating yogurt with active cultures (very important) and taking acidopholus tablets (check with your doctor before taking any over the counter medications or herbs. Herbs are natural but that does NOT mean they are safe. Arsenic is natural too!!!)

Gentleman: You are not immune to this infection. It is a yeast infection, related to the kind ladies get. And any of you that have ever been around a woman suffering from one KNOW how much agony they can be. YOu must seek assistance as well.
