WOW!!!. I'm in my 40s.. Ive been on various Bcp for about 10yrs due to a fibroid that causes me to bleed too much and I got anemic. I have been on Yasmin for a year-- and didn't like it so the Dr, suggested I try Yaz. So I did for 6 months.WHOA!! Major muscle tightness that got progressively worse-so much that I couldn't even bend over to tie my shoes. I ached all over, headaches and tired. I also had muscle cramps at the least provocation. I notice that the weeks I had my period and wasn't taking the pill daily, I felt much better. IM very athletic and as a former dancer was very flexible. Ive been of about a week and a half and really feel a difference already. I think Ill Detox and see what my body does. This is crazy.. Anyone else have this???

I have been on the NuvaRing for about 6 months now. I have endometriosis and I'm anemic both run in my family on both sides. I went to my doctor to ask what birth control method would be better for me than the pill because my hectic life doesn't have a set schedule and she recommended the depo shot or the NuvaRing. After hearing about the pros and cons of both forms of birth control I opted for the NuvaRing.
I love it! I don't have to worry about taking a pill every day and I don't have to worry about getting a shot every 3 months. I use the NuvaRing to stop my periods, which stops the progression of the endometriosis, which will lessen my chances of becoming infertile by the time I want to have children.
I have had no negative side affects from the NuvaRing. I have had some breast tenderness but I'm only 19 and I think it is due to my breasts growing and not the NuvaRing. My mother's breasts grew until she was about 21 or 22.
My sex drive is actually greater than it was before because I don't have to worry and my long term boyfriend loves it! Neither one of us have to worry about an unwanted pregnancy and I would recommend this method of birth control to anyone, especially someone who's life is as hectic as mine!

All I can say is WOW!!!! I started taking Yasmin to lighten my menstrual cycle. I was severely anemic and had heavy cycles due to fibroid tumors. I was not sexually active but my doctor decided to have me start taking BCP's to regulate my cycle. Everything went fine for the first few months. But the last two months I've been feeling depressed and crying and I had no idea depression was a side effect. Also, I am starting my actual flow on day 18 of the pill pack. My past experience with BCP was Ortho Novum and my flow started about 2 days after the last active pill. Now it's before I finish the pills and last for about eight days. This just started during the last two months.

The last two months as well I've been feeling depressed, and crying....which I never do. When I researched yasmin, I didn't see depression as a side effect. If I did, I ignored it because I have taken meds without any problems in the past. I wonder if anyone has had a problem with the "irregular" menstrual cycle.

It has been six weeks since I was given Lupron. My doctor did not inform me of all of the possible side effects. I don't think I would have taken it had I known of all of the possible side effects.

I was given it to shrink my fibroid and stop my heavy period that was causing me to be anemic. Since I have been on it I have one heavy period that last seven days and stopped...only to have it return two days later and last twelve days...so much for it stopping my period. Compare to some my other side effects have been mild...I think since I can't seem to remember much.Besides the memory loss I have had headaches, hot flashes mood swings, joint pains at night and there are times when I just feel confused unable to express myself.

My next shot is schedule for November...I not think that is going to happen

I am so glad I found this site. I chose Mirena because the copper IUD was giving me heavy bleeding , so this appeared to be the great solution.
The bleeding decreased but at the same time other symptoms appeared.
After eight months of visiting doctors of all kinds, taking pills for deppression, and going on never-ending diets, I found a doctor whom I have never seen before, and he looked at the facts from a distance.
It was him who suggested that Mirena could possibly have something to do with my gain loss (22 pounds) , mood changes, hair loss, incredible bloating of my stomach after eating and tiredness.
Reading this experiences only made me more certain to have it removed as soon as possible , hoping to get back to my old self soon.

Fatigue, insomnia, weight gain and have had two teeth break off. The worst thing is that I am so tired all the time. All I can do is make myself get off of the couch to do normal house work. Was told by Dr. that I was so tired because I am anemic. Decided to search Diovan and was completely surprised to find out how many people have the same side effects. Now I am pretty sure that Diovan is my problem. I have a call into the Dr. and he is suppose to call me back tomorrow.

My husband used to take Altace fo HBP. It wasn't working so his dr. put him on Lisinopril in Feb. of this year, 2007. He had to keep lowing the dosage until he reached 5mg. It knocked him on his ass, he has no energy at all, no sex drive, we have not had sex since Jan. He is tired, tired tired all the time. He also coughs but is a smoker, wakes up at night with his t-shirt soaked. He has told his dr. this and he says it's where his BP gets low and his heart is pumping trying to keep up with his body. He had bloos work done and has found out he's anemic. I don't know if the medication has caused this or not. Since June 2007 he has had to have 2 blood transfusions, has gone through scopes, more blood work and we are waiting results of the lastest done Aug. 7, 2007. He goes for a CAT Scan Aug. 21, if the dr. isn't satisfied with that he's doing a bone marrow test. Could this be the result of lisinopril? Anyone else having these systoms?

my 13 yr. old daughter has been on 150mg. per day for about 9 months, have noticed major acne(cheeks, chin -very inflamed), huge wt. gain-from 92-134 lbs. in 6mo., she started her periods mid April and has had long periods with heavy bleeding and now for the second time in 31/2 months is anemic despite being put on birth control pills to stop the bleeding- she is exhausted-sleeping 12-14 hours per day-this is not her usual pattern.Previously thought her wt. gain was from Seroquel but even after being off it for 61/2 months there has been no wt. loss. The only other time she has had wt. gain with a med. is Tegretol- so maybe I shouldn't be suprised that she has this response to anothe AE.

Hello All,

Not to discount the individual experience of the last post, I feel it important to remind readers of this site of the many many women who like myself developed devastating symptoms (depression, anxiety, vertigo etc) OVER A YEAR AND A HALF after they began taking it. Like the previous post, if I had found this site during my first year and a half on yasmin I would have thought 'those poor women, thank god it hasn't affected me like that'.

The point is this...I stopped taking yasmin 2 years ago after realising it was the cause of my mental health problems (with no history of such) and can thankfully say I am now back to my 'old self' i.e before yasmin. I have made it my mission to educate all women I know about this pill as I truly believe it is poison. Of all the women I know who have taken it I am yet to hear a positive story.

Please don't delay...I would not wish my experience on my worst enemy. I won't be happy until this evil pill is off the market.

On a clinical level, remember this...Yasmin is a very young pill and consequently does not have the clinical trials data to fall back on. In my last 2 years of research of the contraceptive pill (& my background is science) I am yet to come across a pill that has received such negative a reception as yasmin/yas.

I myself will never go on another pill. To know how your entire being can change, your perceptions of the world, your relationships...all because of a little pill. The power that little pill has is terrifying.

I wish all women recovering from this pill all the very best. I have been where you are and am now on the other side. Each day is a step closer to the real healed you. Be strong and be sure to talk about how you're feeling.

Take care

I started Advair in November 2006; within days I started bruising on the inside of the thighs, calves and tricep area. One bruise developed in my sleep (!) that was about 6 in. long and 3 in. wide on the inside thigh. It was brilliant red and blue! But I chalked it up to getting accustomed to the new drug. Well about 5 months into this I noticed I could no longer sing or hold a note for any length of time without losing total breath. In the morning I would call out for one of my animals and nothing would come out of my mouth! Alarmed I stopped the Advair for about a week. The brusing stopped; my voice returned. I decided to try Advair again and yes, the bruising returned in the same areas and the voice issues started back. NOW I've been diagnosed with anemia in just 5 short months! Nothing changed except using Advair and Fluctonase. I'm now off Advair by my own choosing, my voice is returning, the bruises are gone but I still have to get my iron count up. Has anyone had anemic issues using this drug?

I had 2 40mg Kenalog injections in L5 & S1 for a slipped disk a month a half ago. I had a consultation with my doctor beforehand and basically I was told that I may have some mild side effects a couple of days after the injection that would go away in a few days & possibly a bump on the injection site. I am a very healthy 31 year old female so I figured this procedure would cause me minimal problems......Well, I couldn't have been more wrong. 20 days I got my period and it wouldn't stop. It lasted for 9 days and 5 days later I got my period again for 9 more days. It has gone on like this for over 3 weeks now. I have always had a regular period that lasted no more than 4 days. I was completely horrified and thought the worst like cancer or something. My doctor has run numerous different tests on me and everything is normal except that I am anemic and low on sodium. The Dr. can only conclude it was this corticosteroid shot. After reading this message board I am at a lost for words! It seems like others had symptoms like this and even worse! I also planned on getting pregnant soon and no one told me this would be an issue. Now it is. I also read that this drug can lead to osteoporosis so to everyone out there on Kenalog start taking calcium and iron too.

Let me just say, if you are thinking of starting Toprol then you need to consider this. It works great at lowering your heart rate, but it also with make you gain weight, have anxiety attacks, severe shortness of breath, insomnia, and a low libido. Your doctor's are not going to tell you this and will blame all the side effects on other things. At least that was my experience and what seems to be many other experiences according to this site. I was put on Toprol due to an elevated heart rate (186 beats per minute) that was caused by being severly anemic. Now other than being anemic, I was a completely healthy and fit 29 year-old female without any other heart problems. After being on 100 mg of Toprol for 4 days I would periodically feel a dull pain in my chest and would get extremely pale. On the 6th day, the pain was so bad I went to the emergency room, they told me that it was just an anxiety attack. Up until this point in my life, I had never experienced any sort of anxiety or depression and could not think of anything that would cause it (no stress in life, great marriage, etc.) After the visit to the ER, I decided to reduce my Toprol down to 50 mg a day to see if that helped my problem any. After reducing my meds, I felt 85% better. No chest pains. Well, I'm not one to take medication for long periods of time (I think in the long run they can sometimes cause more harm than help) and since I was only to take the Toprol until my anemia was under control, I decided recently to start to wean myself off (without doctor's consent.) I am currently down to 25 mg a day, which hasn't been easy. I've tried to move down to 12.5 a day, but have trouble sleeping and feel very anxious. I've been on Toprol for 2 months and I have gained 10 pounds (eat like I always have...fruits, veggies, whole wheat and lean meat) and have a low sex drive (never a problem before). I'm too young for this crap.

Just a update I have taken 3 of the Lexapro and Iam very tired and dont feellike myself

I also didnt sleepwelllast 2 nights

Of course had all these symptoms prior to Lexapro

I will say it got rid of the creepy crawling under my arms that I suffered with for 6 weeks. It was like restless arm syndrome and it went away only 3 days on the Lexapro keeping my fingers crossed it doesnt come back.

Dejay also is on lexapro a week ahead of me and just so you all know she is doing so much better.
She was awful 2 weeks ago and now she is laughing and decorating her Christmas Tree.
I was really worried about her as she and I have become so close.

She swears she has no side effects from the Lexapro

I feel tired and kind of blah

I need to get back to work and get back on track and its so hard and so frustrating

I only slept 3 hours last night and wish I could take a nap but I cant.

DJ is seeing a therapist and she said the checmicals in our brains were altered by the stupid pill but that we will be back to normal.

I hate that I had to take a pill to get over Yaz/Yasmine as I said I didnt even take a Tylenol prior to this experience.

Does anyone else have any experience with the Lexapro??

Cant believe I had to take it
I too had been to the Emergency like 7 times in 7 weeks everytime telling em Iam fine except the first time I was anemic.
The last time I went to the ER the doctor told me to see a shrink.....he didnt believe a pill could trigger this

Dejay and I are so mad about the pill
It has stolen a part of our life and robbed a part of our soul

This experience forever changed us both

We have to do something everyday innocent women are taking the pill only to end up where we are today! Its wrong

Very very wrong

I have had pharmacist my doctor other doctors tell me its not the pill well it was the pill or the effects it played on my hormones

It made me a person who never took medication in my life have to take Lexapro!

Hi Guys

iam weaker than you all I know I startted the Lexapro I was crying so bad from the constant aggitation and couldnt do it anymore
I suffered for 6 weeks of aggitation everyday
It was getting the best of me and my heart and soul

My sister didnt want me to take it as we are naturalists but I already screwed up and took the BCP

I was desperate I needed something to take away the anxiety it just became too much to handle
My stomach was constantly nauseated from the anxiety to where I couldnt look at myself

Here is what the pharmacist told me
May apply to everyone

I was anemic than took BCP which depletes you nutritionally anyhow he said being Iam 42 I was probably already low in estrogen progesterone than WHAM I took synthetic hormones and than WHAM went off the pill and left my body is sheer panic state which created the anxiety!

I believe this to be true but prior to the pill I was functioning quite well even with low hormone levels.

Why did I decide to give the Lexapro a try I guess because Dejay seemed to be getting ebtter on it and I was not and I was at the end of my rope.

I have only taken 3 pills of the Lexapro too soon to tell will keep you posted.
The doctor said I should only have to take it one month and than wean off it by than the anxiety should subside who knows

It is upseting my stomach
As I havnt eaten well in 6 weeks and my stomach is very sensitive
I dont notice anyother side effects of it yet
Just nauseated some and a bit lightheaded but this could be due to my lack of appetite

I know you guys are mnad at me for trying it

I received 10 Kenalog injections on 9/15 in my scalp to help with hair loss. I am 34; the doctor biopsied and said I had scarring alopecia. I asked about cortisone shots and she elected to give me a series to see if it would help. The shots were painful, of course. But I'd read that steroid therapy can help regrow hair, so I remained hopeful. On my return visit a couple of months later, I pointed out the dent to her, and she said it would fill in in a few months. She gave me a 2nd shot of Kenalog in my left buttock.

I got home that night and looked up the drug and its side effects. I found this board. I cried all night.

It's 3 months later and I have one huge, tender indentation in my scalp--it is BALD; how ironic as there was hair there pre-Kenalog. I also have several less deep dents in my scalp. I've also had the yeast infection, but so far I have yet to develop an indentation or discoloration in my buttock. I am wondering if I should see a lawyer because I was not informed of the risks of this drug. And apparently rather than improving the situation it was prescribed for, it made it worse.

Sigh.

Has anyone on Lisinopril experienced changes in lab test values? My fasting glucose level is high; cholesterol & triglycerides high; HDL low; LDL high. Also, am slightly anemic. I have been on this drug for a year & had never seen my lab tests so out of whack. My blood pressure has been great on this drug. I haven't gained/lost any weight. I do feel so sleepy & don't have my usual energy anymore at all. Would rather be sleeping than most anything else these days. Also, my arms & legs & eyes feel fatigued much of the time -- almost like a kind of "buzzing" in my arms hands & feet too. Also, get lots of flutters in my chest at times, which feel like skipped heartbeats. My heart beats fast at times, for no apparent reason. And I feel out of breath for no apparent reason. What's up with this drug???

Well, this is my 1st month on Ovcon. I found out that I was anemic, very low thyroid and I had my period for 1 month before getting on this pill. Yes, I'm a little bloated, but it's not that bad. The only thing would be that I got my period today & I'm not supposed to get it until next week. We'll see how it goes. So far, I haven't experienced any bad side effects.

I had a series of 3 kenalog injections for pain in my neck at c-4 and c-5. Immediately after the last injection i noticed re blotches under my skin and went to my dr. She said it was blood under the skin from a hit or scratch, which would normally be a regular bruise, blue ot such. I had blood tests and was found to be anemic and have to take iron to rebuild. This was a result of the kenalog. I also have night sweats and terrible mood swings which I am trying to work out without any more drugs. The effect of kenolag on my pituitary gland has stopped hair growth on my arms and head.
The last injection was a month ago and no sign of any regrowth yet. This drug should definitely be taken OFF THE MARKET. It seems no drs. tell us of the horrible side effects and if they know what they are, why are they using this drug on us the patient. Remember, First Do No Harm??? I will never take this drug again and will certainly tell others the same.

I took Tegretol for years to stabilize mood swings; diagnosis was schizoaffective, but probably that was due to side effects of antidepressants. I had never had any mania until prescribed antidepressants for depression and bulimia.

Tegretol: any time dose was changed, I would have headaches. Fierce headaches. If I tried to increase dose too fast, the result was sedation to the point of acting like I was drunk(staggering and grogginess.) I thought the Tegretol was stabilizing my moods for some time, but still had mood swings and irritability. Was put on SSDI during the time I took it, since I became unable to hold a job. My behavior was sometimes very illogical and inappropriate on this medication.
Also, was always either anemic or on the verge of anemia due to the effects of the Tegretol. This was while taking iron supplements.
I did not gain much weight (5 pounds?) but only because I dieted and exercised a LOT.
My dr found it hard to believe Tegretol gave me headaches, and told me that Tegretol is given to prevent trigeminal nerve pain etc., but the headaches decreased dramatically when I went off the med.

I accidentally happened across this Website... I was looking for an anti-depressant medication that would help me to, not hinder me from losing weight.

My jaw hit the floor when I began reading the entries. Almost everyone one of them described me to a "T". I am still in shock and almost speechless... You better believe that I will be visiting with my doctor ASAP about getting off of Yasmin.

I was on Estrostep FE, prior to this, because I have to take some form of BC due to PCOS. I was on the Estrostep FE because it has iron pills during the "inactive" phase and helps you to not become anemic during your periods. When Yasmin showed up on the scene, my OB/GYN (who I trust very much) wanted to switch me to Yasmin, because as most other doctors have been - she was fooled by the drug companies into believing this would be the best thing for me.

Granted, at first, it worked miracles. Acne cleared up, I felt a lot better, etc. I have been on this medication for a while now and about a year ago I began to experience severe anxiety and panick attacks (so much so, that I missed work and had chest pains). Of course, it's all in your head, so I was put on Lexapro - which has halped quite a bit, but I also began taking a daily vitamin/mineral, calcium & iron supplements.

I have also become anemic, even though I am taking all these supplements and depiste my best efforts to lose weight, I cannot seem to. I have also experience the ravenous hunger, that some of you have mentioned - which I am sure does not help the weight issue. Not too mention the extreme fatigue and body aches so bad, that they have done multiple blood tests & were even going to send me to a rhuematologist. The aches and pains make it very difficult, if not impossible to exercise, which only exhaserbates the weight issue.

I have become morbidly obese, which I am not blaming on the Yasmin - but after reading all of this, I believe that it definitely has contributed. Like I said, I will be seeing my doctor Thursday and I will be taking copies of these entries as well as this web address to her. Thank you all so much for sharing your stories, I believe it may have saved my life and maybe many others'. I am also going to look into what it takes to get a lawsuit started, with my attorney. I will let you all know what I find out. Thanks again!
