I've been taking Lipitor 40 mg. for over a year. A few months after, I started to notice my ankles were swelling a little bit. I attributed it to the warmer summer weather in Florida. It continued through the winter along with pins & needles on my soles and heels, and my doctor said it wasn't caused by Lipitor. After a 10 hr. flight to Europe in May, my ankles & feet were extremely swollen and painful. It hurt to just touch my ankles and feet. Even my toes were swollen. Bought compression stockings but it did not help. Walking on cobblestones was unbearable. I took my last Lipitor pill on May 30th.
Ankle pain is gone and the swelling has reduced a little but the pins & needles feeling is still here. Ankles look good in the a.m. but as the day progresses, the swelling increases. I don't know what to think! My only choice, I feel, is to wait it out and hope the swelling & tingling goes away. Anyone else with these side effects?

My son (14 years old) was given levaquin for a sinus and ear infection
2 weeks ago. Around the same time he began practices for his high school baseball team. He complained about his legs being stiff and aching. We assumed it was the intense practices causing his muscles to ache. After a week on the drug, he could barely walk and his knees were swollen. We were very concerned and looked up the side effects of levaquin on the internet. We were shocked and angry when we found out that levaquin should not be given to children under the age of 18 because on the possibility of joint and tendon problems. Today we went to the orthopedist and he drained a lot of fluid off of both knees (it looked like about a 1/2 cup from each). The doctor thinks it has to be a side effect of the drug, because the symptoms began at the same time. He doesn't
think after examining the knee and having him perform certain tasks that he has damaged any tendons. He has all the symptoms of rheumatiod arthritis. He is very athletic and plays competitive sports and we are praying that his knees are not permanently damaged by this drug. Parents please research all drugs and there side effects before giving them to your children! Doctor's DO make mistakes!! The pharmacist failed us too.

I had went to the dr. a few weeks back for sinus problems. My dr. gave me amoxicillin to take. After 1 week, My sinus infection was
not any better at all so he gave me 400mg of avelox to take once a day for 10 days. I immediately experienced dizziness and extreme bouts of tiredness. Since that was the primary warning
on the label I did not pay it any attention and continued to take the meds. After 6 days of taking the meds I have decided to
discontinue using the meds. I have experienced some severe side effects which are dizziness, fatigue, increased headaches,
upset stomach, extremely loose stool, stomach cramps, blurred vision and severe and almost debilitating ankle pain, leg pain, knee
pain, wrist pain, elbow pain, shoulder pain, lower back pain and neck pain.
I have also had a rapid heart rate so bad at times it feels like my heart is
going to beat right out of my chest. I feel anxious and very short
tempered as well. I am snappy with my loved ones for no reason at
all and what is worst is I still have severe sinus pressure and
pain as if the infection hasn't even went away. The only plus is that I can
breathe clearly through my nose for the first time in 3 and a half
weeks. I guess that's not really much of a trade off now is it.

I HATE MIRENA!!!!! I had it put in last December after the birth of my fourth child. In May, I developed intense ankle pain and was diagnosed with tendinitis. Never once did it occur to me that my IUD could be the culprit. I went for an MRI which was negative. The pain did not improve - it spread to my knee and then my lower back. After a back MRI, which was also clear, it occurred to me to start researching mirena side effects. I discovered that tendinitis was a rare side effect (though my ob claims it is not possible). When I went to have the thing removed, the doctor discovered it was embedded in my uterus. Had a procedure done to remove it yesterday and I am already feeling less pain than I have had in months. How insane for something to cause me so much pain and send me to so many doctors. I urge anyone on mirena with any bizarre symptoms to have the thing removed!!!!!

I was given a 10 day dose of LEVAQUIN for a mild bronchitis/respiratory ailment on Jan. 29, 2008. I took 1 500mg pill for the full ten days. Three days after I stopped taking this medication, I experienced incredibly painful swelling in both knees. I could barely walk, and couldn't bend my knees. I was scared, upset, and in absolute misery. I spent a week literally throwing myself backwards onto chairs. It was unbelievable. When I could finally get to my normal health care provider 5 days later, she immediately identified the culprit as the Levaquin I had taken. She said she knew it to cause people's tendons to burst. It was obvious since it was both knees that it was not an injury and I never had any other problem with my legs. I am, or shall I say I was an avid walker. I was told to see an orthopedic doctor if I had not improved in one week. I had not improved in a week. The orthopedic doctor sent me for an MRI which showed irreversible, permanent cartilage damage in my left knee. The right knee he didn't MRI at the time, saying he could determine what he needed to know from the one knee and would only be able to do corrective surgery on my knees in 6 week intervals. This horrible drug has permanently altered my way of life. I was a 53 year old active, ambulatory adult who would walk miles a day. Two months later, I still have constant knee pain, cannot stand for long periods of time without leaning on something and can no longer kneel, etc. I can only walk around a bit and if I'm on my feet for long periods of time I experience knee, ankle pain and swelling. I sent a report to the FDA who obviously cares nothing about this situation, since I'm not the only unsuspecting person to have this happen. I've been studying this drug now and there was evidence in animal clinical trials of joint and tendon damage, To me it would have been no different an experience if someone had come up and hit me with a baseball bat across both knees. I am permanently damaged from Levaquin. I think it's criminal this drug is given to younger ambulatory adults at all.

Have been on Januvia for 3 weeks, Very bad left shoulder started about one week into treatment. I initially thought that I had slept on my shoulder "wrong". Left leg pain started last week. Lower leg feels tolerable sitting however when I stand & walk, get shin splint type pains. Shoulder is improving & leg pain intensifying. I called doctor's office this morning and relayed symptoms to the nurse. I told him that I was discontinuing Januvia until I heard otherwise. He took my number but physician did not return call today. I find it odd that there is no mention of this type complication in the patient information handouts. I have taken Motrin, Aleve & Extra Strength Tylenol without relief.

I was given 20 mg of Prednisone for 10 days for a rash and joint pain.
The pain went away and I felt great the rash got a little better. Two days ago I took my last pill. I woke up that night and my knees gave out. By morning I was great! Next night I woke with knee problem again had to slide down the stairs to the living room. I got to wondering if the knee thing could be associated with the Prednisone. I got on line and read all this terrible stuff. I am so Horrified! Today I am in pain like my body is bruised and my face is swollen a little. I have acid reflux as well. Non of this is typical for me. My knee thing is ok again, but I am just appalled! I have no MED insurance. I hope this isn't the beginning of worse things I am not taking that drug now. The Dr. didn't say I needed to taper...
I hope I have not damaged myself by taking this drug! My heart goes out to all of you! My question is - Why are the Dr.'s prescribing this terrible drug?

I have been on Lisinopril for about 30 days, I have developed a pain in my left side that I have not determined the cause. I realized last night that the pain started about the time I started taking this drug. I am taking myself off the drug today to see if the pain subsides, I am calling the Doc this morning. Has anyone else experienced these symptons?

I took levaquin 500mg for seven days. I have been off it for 4 week and am still having severe lower flank leg and ankle pain. I cannot sit or stand for long. It is a sad story. I hope this goes away. God bless all of you. I have been in bed for almost 5 weeks now. I wish I new if there was a class action going on. I need money to hire a freekin housekeeper.

Hi there Joodles,
I've been actively scanning your posts since I can identify with you quite a bit. Like you I'm also day 52 off the pill but this is my situation. All the side effects of has only developed after I went off yasmin. I was basically fine on the pill.
1-this is a Biggie
I gained about 6-8lbs and am extremely bloated, disfigured every single solitary day for the past 7 weeks and cannot seem to shake it off with any diet or excercise. Help-is this here to stay. U mentioned something about losing the weight-but I'm having no luck.
2-no recurring period.
3-heart palpitations at night as soon as I hit the sack
3-no sex drive
4-ankle pain
5-Moodiness, depression and bouts of crying
6-headaches
My gyn said I should come to him if I don't get my period by day 60 and as for the other symptoms-I should go to a doctor. Well thats bs because I know it really all comes from this crazy pill.]
Any advice for that weight gain? I used to be very thin and fit and now I look and feel as if i'm pregnant.
Thanks much.

Started on Vytorin (Zocor 20 mg/Zetia 10mg) on 12-23-04. I had previously been on 40 mg of Pravochol with 10 mg of Zetia with little side effects. However after 6 months on Vytorin my sex drive has diminished and my left ankle swells and aches after my daily 30 minute jog (have been jogging for over 25 year without any ankle problems). 3 days ago I began splitting my Vytorin 10/20 pill and have noticed the ankle pain has subsided greatly. The ankle pain has persisted for the last 6 months while on the Vytorin. My cholesterol has plummeted to 133 (which I personally think is too low). I am planning to have my doctor put me back on a lower dose (20mg) of Pravachol and Zetia as before. Anyone esle have this problem with Vytorin?

I took Zocor for 60 days and stopped because of pain in both my shoulders, not being totally sure this was the cause but being normally very free of such pains. It took about 3 months for the pain to subside, following stopping the Zocor. One year later I resumed statin therapy and took Pravachol for 60 days. My shoulder pain returned and I developed knee and ankle pain also. I therefore stopped the statins and I still have some shoulder pain after 7 months - the other pains have lessened.
I know that people will post here mostly when they have problems, but from similar experiences of at least five of my friends who have been on these drugs, I am beginning to think that it is a silent minority who are, in general, not posting here!
I note that statins are prescribed universally for high LDL (cholesterol) and also for the majority of diabetics, regardless of LDL levels. Seeing the cost of these pills at about $3 each, there is a huge vested interest in maintaining the position that muscular and joint problems are only occurring in a tiny minority of those being treated.

I have been experiencing painful calf muscles, right ankle pain and have had episodes of atrial fibrillation. The Zocor has worked to reduce my cholesterol, but after reading the problems others are reporting I'm wondering at what cost to my body and whether these are being caused by the zocor or something else?

I find it extremely annoying and offensive that people have the nerve to comment things like: You are all complaining or whining, read the side affects before you use it. why do any of you think that you are more educated or better than any of us? of course we all knew the side affects but people react to medicines (etc) differently. i find it very hard to believe that all of these symptoms are coincidence. 99% of us have given birth and raised children which is the hardest, most challenging, emotional roller coaster and im sure we are all able to deal with a headache now and then and mild cramps but that is not the case with us. its a problem when you wake up every morning with migraines and back pains. it is also a problem when women are so depressed and tired that they aren't able to take care of their children and husband. we all have one thing in common. We are suffering from these side affects. I appreciate everyone who has opened up and told their experience and i will not let someone comment about any of us and tell us we are making this up in our heads or that we are whining. if you feel any of those no one is making you read these stories.. so GET LOST!!!
-- By chelseyj | Reply | (2) replies | Private Message mefor those of you that have had a great experience with Mirena why are you even on this site?? you are no help to those who actually need help and those that are suffering.
bottom line is no one is right or wrong but this forum is made for those who want help not someone adding their input to make us feel even worse.
