SIX HOURS POST REMOVAL- I had my mirena removed today after 3 years and nearly 3 months. My side effects included headaches, sore breasts, weight gain, nausea, severe hair loss, depression, severe pitting edema of my right foot, cramping, hip pain, exhaustion, severe mood swings, and acne. During the first six months I had constant bleeding, which I had been told to expect. I took regular pills everyday and the bleeding stopped. Then the hair loss started. My hair came out in clumps and was EVERYWHERE. I lost about 15 inches of my hair in spots. I went to the salon and got a fantastic hair cut, I attributed my hair loss to stress. Now I'm not too sure. I also didn't feel like I was myself with the odor that I developed. No matter how many times I showered I felt not regular. Slowly but surely over the past three years I have gained 30 lbs. I worked out to try to get the weight off, I lost nothing and in fact gained weight! The pitting edema of my left foot started in July of 08. I have been tested for everything including diabetes, heart problems, clotting disorders, pregnancy, high blood pressure, kidney problems, and the list goes on to the tune of $6,000. I went to my OB back in the spring and was told if they could find nothing else then they would remove the IUD. In the interim I lost my job and subsequently my insurance. I luckily was able to get coverage again and immediately set an appointment for the removal. Insertion hurt like nothing I have ever experience, removal was quick and almost painless. I also ended up with BV (bacterial vaginosis). I feel and look as though I am about 6 or 7 months pregnant. My belly is actually the same size as it was when my son was born. I weight about 15 lbs more. My breasts were extremely swollen and sore.

I instantly felt better after removal. My hip immediately stopped tingling. I have no back pain. It felt almost like a lifting if that makes sense. I am curious to see what the next few weeks will bring and I will definitely keep you all posted.

I am a 52 year old female. I've been using Zyrtec for four months, at first PRN, then for the last eight weeks daily. I also take Norvasc and Atenolol for BP. I was already experiencing slight swelling in my ankles presumably from the Norvasc, and I have been gaining weight steadily since starting the Atenolol in December. I have had overwhelming fatigue during exercise to the point that I can hardly finish a one hour Jazzercise class (which I have attended on a regular basis for over 20 years.) All symptoms I've blamed on the BP meds, especially the Atenolol.

I began complaining to my doc about the symptoms and had a complete blood work up to rule out other diseases that cause these symptoms. He suggested Weight Watchers and increased exercise to battle the weight gain, and reduced the Atenolol to half dose to over come the these issues. I didn't think to tell him about the Zyrtec I had started taking OTC.

I began careful monitoring of calorie intake and increased my Jazzercise classes in an attempt to lose weight with no success. In fact, the weight continued to increase.

This week, the swelling in my ankles increased to the point where you can not recognize them and the swelling has now included my feet. They are so puffy the toes are connected and you can make a deep impression with your finger in the skin. I decided to stop the Zyrtec and found the swelling to stop immediately. Even the slight ankle swelling has abated.

I started searching the web for contraindications between Zyrtec and the BP meds. None of the drug sites offer any negative side effects The Zyrtec site gives no info at all. After reading the many experiences here and on another site, I think the Zyrtec is to blame for all of my symptoms. I have not asked the doc about his opinion, but will inform him at my next appointment.

I started advair a year ago for COPD and the side effects have become intolerable, but I'm between a rock and a hard spot, because it has made it possible for me to get off of the rescue inhaler which I was previously using every two hours. My hair periodically falls out by the handful, my legs swell every night and a deep bruise to my right leg has created a four week odyssy of the ankle swelling to twice the size of the other by dinnertime and the bruise is only just starting to appear - I suspect the steroids have slowed healing. I also have most of the same side effects as listed by others here - belly-bloating, diarrhea, severe stomach cramping, charlie horses, quicker temper, hoarseness, sore throat, heart palpatations, and chest pressure, trouble swallowing, bruising, blurred vision, most disconcerting is the way this stuff is affecting my short term memory. I just started back to school and I can't absorb anything into my memory and my ability to conceptualize (one of my best skills, previously) is now frightenly limited. For the first time in my life, I know what it is like to be the one in class scratching my head with a dumb expression on my face. I realized that it was the Advair, because I tried studying in the early morning (after the last dose of Advair had worn off) and Voila - my memory and conceptualizing abilities had partially, but dramatically, returned. But I need the Advair to GET TO class and by the time I reach the test (after my morning dose of Advair), I can't recall anything in a timely enough manner (test taking had always been my strength). I hate to think what this drug is doing to the minds of children in this country. I now know for the first time in my life, what a horrible feeling it is to not "get it" after trying with all your might. I flunked a math test last week after studying days and nights for it - first test I've ever flunked in my life and I used to get Bs in college while not opening a book until the night before a test. Does anyone know of anything else that is anywhere nearly as effective without all the side effects? I suspect it is the fluoride in Advair that makes it so dangerous - a good percentage of the dangerous drugs taken off the market or still on the market, but with blackbox warnings contain Fluoride - it is highly reactive and unpredictable. Flonase (nasal spray made with steroids and fluoride) makes my father and sister nearly psychotic!

I am a 57 yr old female who has been taking lisinopril for about 4 years, after the Zestril became too expensive. I have had the cough and intermittent shortness of breath for several years, but really did not attribute the shortness of breath to the drug until it became quite severe recently. I stopped taking it three days ago, and of course, am concerned that my BP will be out of control. I exercise, eat pretty well, and am about 20 lbs overweight. I also experience abdominal bloat that by evening I look six months pregnant, but no ankle swelling. I hate that. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat, still the bloat. Anyone else bloating? My question, have any of you who stopped taking the drug finally experienced an end to the shortness of breath? I notice I can still exercise moderately, and have the shortness regardless of sitting or exercising. Anyone out there truly get relief for symptoms and how soon after stopping

I've only been on 10 mg of Lisinopril for 30 days and have been experiencing a severe dry cough. To the point I missed work today because I was up all night coughing. I didn't attribute the cough to this drug until reading about it on the net this morning. I have a Dr.'s appt tomorrow and plan on getting off of it. I have very mild high blood pressure. When i went to another site a cough was NOT listed as a side effect. I wish I had dug deeper. Glad I'm not crazy too!

I have been taking 50 mg of Toprol for about six months now and have experienced the exact same side effects as the majority of you. I have been thinking that I have congestive heart failure but it turns out that the Toprol is causing these symtoms. The worst thing I am experiencing is chronic leg and ankle swelling and I have been taking 60 - 80 mg of Lasix to try to correct it but to no avail. This Toprol has helped my blood pressure and tremors but the side effects are too much. I am seeing my doctor to get another treatment. This is NUTS!!!!

The immediate effect of taking minoxidil for blood pressure was and almost instaneous drop to abnormal low pressure.
After taking the drug for about 10 days (1 pill in a.m.) I experienced painful legs with abnormal leg and ankle swelling.
all while taking diruetic lasix. Painful ankles & toes continued and itchy rash showed up on my left inside ankle. I read up on the side effects of this drug and stopped taking it. My swelling and pain as well as the rash went away. All of this time I could not talk to physician - out of town for xmas holidays!

THANK ALL OF YOU! I took my Lisinopril ~ 2 hrs ago and can't lay down to sleep because of my JUMPING HEART! Every other beat is irregular and it is beating sooooo hard that I feel like someone is hitting me in the chest. My husband admitted to the same symptoms to me tonight when I woke him from a dead sleep because I thought I was dying! I looked up the symptoms and fell across this site. I read that Advil/Aleve type drugs diminish it's effectiveness... I've been taking NSAIDS like crazy over the past 2 months d/t a knee lateral miniscus tear. It's fixed now and I'm not taking NSAIDS and noticed that I've had increased hand/ankle swelling and this jumping/irregular heart beat!

I read that someone had weird side effects coming off... I think it needs to be tapered even if you're taking a lower dose (I'm only taking 10mg daily). I'm a nurse and would recommend a taper as I plan to do and get off this mess.

I was supposed to take it for 3 weeks and then refill for another 3 weeks. I have had a very stuborn sinus infection, so my GP sent me to a ENT out of town. Should I return to this guy???

I was having a problem with my right ankle swelling and my blood pressure was rising - going from fine to high in a little over 6 months.

I have been taking Maxide for almost a year now. My head was swimmy and I had depth perseption issues with my vision the first few days which faded with only occasional episodes now. My kidneys frequently hurt, especially in the morning and I have to drink alot of water or my output goes way down. I found that soda, tea and coffee aggravate the situation. I find that I am extremely light sensitive now. Mowing the lawn at 4:00pm resulted in a mild sunburn. I seldom go to the beach with my family anymore because I get horrible burns there now. Until now, these are the only symptons I attributed to Maxide.

I have muscle stiffness after sitting for 30 minutes or more, especially in the ankles and knees. I have the same problem with pain in the hips and shoulders from laying at night and often wake with feet or hands numb. I've been visiting a chiropractor regularly for the past year. This makes me feel better, but doesn't appear to solve the problem.

I discovered the potassium deficiency and started taking a suppliment to correct that.

I've had strange rashes that seem to be poison ivy when I couldn't recall any exposure to it.

I've had blurred vision problems that my eye doctor couldn't explain.

I'm only 42, but I feel like I'm a cripple old woman. I had no idea these other problems could be attributed to Maxide. My last DR visit was the day after we got back from Vacation out of the country and my BP was high again. My Dr wanted to double my 25mg perscription and I refused. I found this searching for other ways to get healthy.

Hi, I feel so much better after discovering this site, as I now know I'm not the only one suffering horrible side effects from Yasmin!

I was on it for just over 5 months and last week I just stopped taking it after I realised that the terrible way I was feeling was due to this pill. Anyway, to cut a long story short, the side effects I have are: leg pain and leg/ankle swelling, also cramps, worsening of my bi-polar mood disorder, nausea, increse in severity and frequency of migraines, dizziness, blurred vision, nervousness, fatigue and to me, worse of all, weight gain which is all on my breasts and stomach!

I am 38 years old and I have ALWAYS had a washboard flat stomach, now I have a little pot belly which is freaking me out because I can't fit into or suit my usual clothes which I always chose to emphasise and cling to my waist and stomach! I feel that I want to stop eating, I am so upset, I feel ugly and fat and I just want my flat stomach back! Please tell me I can get it back to normal!

My doctor wants me to start on the mini-pill, but do I need to wait for my side effects to wear off first? Also, does anyone know how long it will teke me to get back to normal, after being on the drug for 6 months? I have been off it now for 6 days and I still suffer from all the side-effects as yet....

Had it prescribed twice. The first time was for sinusitis and the second for a urinary infection.
The first time I suffered from severe achilies tendon pain with a little ankle swelling but didn't conect the drug and the pain.
The second time, the doctor, when I informed him that I was even finding walking painful, told me that it was just a side effect of the drug and that it could continue for up to three or four months. That information would have been really usefull before I started using
Levofloxacin the second time but, as is often the case, I was too badly affected by the ailment to look it up myself or ask all the clever questions.

Thanks for the encouragement. I guess I'm starting to panic a little because school is about to begin (I'm a teacher) and none of my pants will fit, LOL.
I also wanted to address the person a few posts back who was experiencing feet and ankle swelling and another who was getting acne. My ankles looked like softballs for a while, but are no longer swelling up and I'm still fighting the acne (hello, I'm in my 40s with zits? Good greif!) I think that is also a symptom of the Prednisone.
You know, I was coughing myself stupid (after trying three dif antibiotics) and two days into the Prednisone, I felt so much better. Even so, I don't think I will ever take it again. There has got to be something else out there...something that does the good without all the evil side effects.

I am on Atacand (16mg.) for BP. I retain fluid, and have a probelm with one ankle swelling. My doctor put me on Maxide for the water retention. I now have less energy and my hair and skin feels dryer . So, I am actually on 2 meds. for high blood pressure??
Isn't tthere just a "water Pill" I could be put on?
I am on the generic for Maidxe Triam/HTC and was getting it from Eckerds, but just orderd th 3 month supply that my insurance offers. This new pill(Generic) and has 3 side effects listed that the pill from Eckerds did not have. I am getting now 2 stories... one from Eckerds. that say no side effects and one from RX Delivery, listing 3. ...may cause discoloration of urine and feces, avoid exposure to sunlight , and Be sureand take with food. None of these ever appeared on the bottle from Eckerss. and they say "NO" to these 3.I have not taken the new one yet!!
Have I called my Dr.?? No.
What do you think? I am 65.

I stopped Advair just over two weeks ago. I skipped a day and had a little trouble breathing - so I took it again. Then I skipped two days and took it again. Then I was able to quit for good. I'm off of it now.

I am using Albuterol just a little bit more than I did while on Advair -- but nothing extreme. I feel better. I've lost 6 pounds without really changing anything (I did quit drinking diet soda also). My ankle swelling has subsided a lot. No more pain.

I hope things get even better with time.

Inherited high cholesterol. Recent blurred vision in left eye that started with a vitreal detachment but led to loss of vision prompted the eye specialist to contact my primary physician. After MRI, etc., determined vascular disease. Immediately place on Zocor 40 mg per day along with low dose aspirin. That was 2 months ago. I now have ankle swelling, heart palpatations, weight gain all in the middle, night sweats, hot flashes and awful dreams. Had a fasting cholesterol test done on Monday. Results - Satisfactory (whatever that may mean) since the doctor did not bother to quote the levels on the small postcard sent to me to give results. I WILL be telephoning his office first thing Monday morning!
