I was on 80mg of Geodon for about 1 year. I started having uncontrolled eye and neck movements. I was taken off the drug. However, I've been left with the side effect of Dystonia. I have no control over my neck muscles, my head is in the backwards and to the left position. Trying to move my neck to the right is very painful. I have to get botox injections every 3 months in my eyes and neck. The shots stop the movement for a few weeks but do nothing for the positioning of my neck as the shots weeken the muscles. I've been told I will have this the rest of my life and the only other treatment would include brain surgery. I am in pain on a daily basis, and when upset or in public the movements are greater which only causes anxiety.

Topamax can cause blindness. Please read about all of the side effects of your antipsychotic meds carefully, and never think you are immune to them. These are powerful drugs, and no one truly knows how they will effect each individual brain.

My 9 year old son has been on Singulair for about four years for asthma and allergies. It did wonders for his asthma and allergies. However, since starting the medicine, has experienced rages, anger, impulse control problems, extreme mood swings, violent and destructive behavior, repetitive behaviors, bed wetting, weight gain, bad self thoughts, ADD, paranoia, peer social interaction problems...shall I go on? He sees a psychologist once a week for counseling and a psychiatrist periodically. He was diagnosed last year with major depressive disorder and mild ADD. He was placed on an antidepressant, an antipsychotic, and an ADD med. My big-hearted sweet boy gradually faded away. When I heard the news about the FDA investigation last week, I did some investigating myself. What I found was gut-wrenching! The Singulair went in the trash. This drug has stolen four precious years of my sons life and made the entire family suffer! We have been through hell. Only four days off the medication and he is already feeling better and looking like my happy boy again! We are slowly weaning him from his psych meds. I am full of hope now for him and his future and my family's weel-being but I am FURIOUS at Merke!!!

I have been crying for almost 24 hours now. I cannot believe what I am reading and hearing about Singulair. My son has been to hell and back again and again. I cannot say for sure the Singulair is the culprit. But after reading all of the other stories on this website, I am convinced it is a strong possibility.
My son is 11 years old. He has severe allergies and asthma. He takes many, many medications for this including Singulair. He as been on Singulair for about 8 years now (my best guess because he has been on it for sooooo long.)
My son was diagnosed with ADHD in pre-school. He has taken many medications for the ADHD, but none have ever done any good at all. We thought some of the medications even made things worse. Now, I'm not so sure.
After exhausting all the ADHD medications, our pediatrician sent my son to a psychiatrist and a counselor. The psychiatrist put him on 2 different antipsychotic medications. Again, neither one did any good and seemed to make matters worse. The psychiatrist sent my son to a psychologist to be tested for Asperger's. For those of you who don't know Asperger's is a high functioning form of autism. The psychologist ruled out Asperger's by diagnosed ADHD and Anxiety Disorder. He did not prescribe any medication.
For some unknown reason, I've only given my son the Singulair off and on for the last year. My son had the best year in school ever. However, his pediatrician was still not satisfied. He sent him to see another psychiatrist at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. We were told he is believed to have more than one disability. He is believed to have ADHD, Aspergers, Teurettes and a possible 4th medical problem that has not yet come to light.
We are scheduled to see a neurologist at Children's Hospital on the 15th of April to rule out any medical reasons for his tics. We see the psychiatrist again on the 18th of April.
I am so tormented by this recent news. Has all of these problems been caused from him taking the Singulair for so long? Although he has had his best year in school yet, he still has a lot of problems. Are the side effects of the Singulair permanent.
The other side of the coin is this: It is also very scary to watch my son not be able to breath. Asthma can also be life threatening. What is a parent supposed to do.
Also, I now don't know whether to keep these appointments that are coming up. I hate so much to put him through more. He has endured enough doctors and tests to last him a lifetime. However, what if it is not the Singulair and there is help out there for him that I am not aware of.
Please if anyone else has had a similar experiences e-mail me. I would love to hear from you.
God Bless everyone who has been through this kind of hell.

My mother is on Geodon. I cant remember how long shes been on it. but in the changes I have seen in her. I want her off ASAP. she used to enjoy life...you know..going to work, going out with friends, talking and hanging out with me but now I don't even recognize her. to me its like she is a zombie. all she does now is just sits at the house and watches TV all day. and as far as talking to her....it seems like shes not even interested in having a normal conversation with anybody. I think shes taking a bigger MG than she should but that cant be it cuz shes only taking 60mgs twice a day. half of the things she says I can barely understand. I have to listen carefully or I have to ask her to repeat what she said. anybody have ANY COMMENTS OR SUGGESTIONS PLEASE LET ME KNOW

Impotence, etc:
I have been on Geodon for about 8 months to treat my schizophrenia. It has given me sexual dysfunction: decreased libido, impotence, decreased sensation and excitement, and premature ejaculation. I did not have these problems before I started antipsychotic medicine. I had my testosterone and prolactin levels checked and they are normal, so it is most likely the medicine. I am rather angry that I wasn't warned that this could happen from my medicines.
Other side effects I have experienced are dizziness and teeth clenching. The dizziness went away after my dose was increased to 120 mg. The teeth clenching went away after a few months. Geodon also seems to have affected my sleep. I would sleep about 12 hours a night. However, the long sleeping has decreased over the months to about 9 hours of sleep per night.
Despite these side effects, the Geodon has successfully treated my hallucinating and delusions. I occasionally experience anhedonia and it isn't clear yet whether or not the Geodon treats this. It certainly doesn't treat it on a lower dose. I hope this information is helpful to other people.

I have been taking Seroquel on and off (more ON) for the past 5 years. I have found that the 9 months pregnant thing is true, and what to do about it? The other antipsychotic options are worse. Especially Zyprexa! The thing that Seroquel does do for me is it QUIETS my noises, my voices - it calms me, and in a kind of "who gives a s--t" kind of way. I'm usually so hyper-aware of everything around me, that the relief from Seroquel is something I look forward to. I think it helps sleep too. I am bipolar, rapid cycling.

I was raped by my then current boyfriend while on Seroquel. I would wake up and know that something was not right, he would not admit to anything..now three years later I am starting to remember things that I couldnt recall at the current time. Seroquel was his date rape drug.
