I am a 38 year old 'normal' UK female, and I have recently come off Yasmin, having been on for the last 6 months.
it was not until I read the posts on this site that i realised what horrible side effects Yasmin had for me - previoulsy I had thought I was going mad, and I had made an appointment to talk to my doctor about anti depressants and tranquilisers - but could not understand why I felt so awful. i became exceptionally emotional with unpredicitable mood swings, crying for no real reason, at any time - meetings at work were a nightmare - crying in the toilets became normal practice. Paranoid that everyone was talking about me, and that my boss was going to fire me. I felt very depressed and had very dark thoughts of ending things. I also felt like I had a really bad cold all the time and in 4 months had 2 bouts of acute sinitius with sickness. I have also gained about 20 pounds. My partner thought he was married to someone who was bi polar, as my normal happy self had become manic depressive who was constantly in a rage. I have a senior managment job and it became impossible to concentrate and my performance dropped a huge amount.
However in the month and a half I've been off Yasmin - I feel 80% of my usual self, and as soon as I stopped taking it I felt immediately better - like a fog was lifting. i'm gradually getting back to normal and I have now gone back to my old pill of Microgynon 30 without problems. The mood swings and crying have vanished (within a week), I feel my normal happy self and I'm feeling a huge amount better - and I have lots of energy. When I was on Yasmin I felt tired all the time, but I could not sleep. Sleeping is still not back to normal, but is better, however I do still have the night sweats others have spoken of. In the past week my head and sinuses have started to unblock and I've had huge amounts of mucus come out of my nose (aparently from no where) and my head is clearing.
I am a normal rational person and I cannot beleive that a BC pill could have this effect and had I not expereinced it I would not have beleived it. My advice is if you feel any of the above then STOP taking it and try something else. I can't beleive the difference in how I feel in myself and about others - basically for the first time in 6 months I feel good. Thanks to the ladies on this site for sharing as otherwise I would have just carried on feeling terrible.

....ok, it is 4am and I am never up at 4am....been up all night...in reading some of these other posts aparently this drug causes insomnia. I have been on Ambien for years now and have not had trouble sleeping with the Ambien, until tonight. I even got up and took a second Ambien...no help. I feel wired and jumpy. No evil thoughts though.
The ironic part is that my neurologist just put me on geodon for a headache that I have had for almost three years. One nonstop every day all day all night headache for 3 years. I have been on meds that had other wonderful side effects such as an unexpected ability to lactate, wieght gain (50lbs) and oh of course there was the time that I asked for a stronger pain med than oxycodone and he put me on the same medication they give herione addicts...that made me lose 2 full weeks of my life and almost lost great friends and family.
I am surprised by the insomnia...I started with 20mg per day, increasing it to 20mg 2x per day....and here comes the insomnia....I guess there could be worse things! I dont care for the tightnessd in my jaw and lower facial area which causes me to look like i am making a sour face -as my husband put it.
time will tell if i stay on this...should be interesting if they take me off of it as I am also going to try to quit smoking in the next few weeks. Could be a bad combination.
thanks for reading!

I am 20 years old and I was just recently put on Toprol (25Mg) because I have low blood pressure and have black-outs and pass out. Toprol has made me very tired and I have had a few sharp pains in my chest. I'm still not sure why I was given a drug that is used for high blood pressure when I have low blood pressure.
I suppose one reason is because before I pass out my blood pressure aparently, unbeknowst to me, increases and taking Toprol will help balance me out. If anyone has any more ideas I'm open to hear them.

Hello, My name is Ted and my girlfriend has been taking yasmin for 7 months and her breast are bigger than ever, thanks yasmin for making such a great product, i think of Pamala Anderson ever time I look at her. The only side effect my girlfriend has experienced from this product is the troublesome task of having to take a pill every day. Aparently Yasmin is effective at balancing mood swings and I have a temper problem so I asked my doctor if he would write me a perscription for Yasmin too. After taking this product for 3 months I can honestly say I feel like a natural woman. You make me feel, you make me feel, you make me feel like a natural woman. THANKS YASMIN, YOUR A TRUE FRIEND,
TED

My mother was on Lipitor and had kidney failure after flu like symptoms. I am positive it is from Lipitor. The doctors tried to say kidney was from high blood pressure, my mother had low pressure. When I said I thought it was from Lipitor they all denied it could cause kidney those statements till I had them read the PDR (physician's desk reference). Being as one had a Lipitor Billboard on his collar, talking to him was like talking to a rock (although the rock would be smarter). I found out her personal doctor brought her cholesteral to 110 and her kidney doctor said everthing is fine although your kidneys are small. This was one month prior to total kidney failure.
My mother's memory is totally gone. It has progressively gotten worse. Aparently cholesteral has an important function in the brain that hasn't been looked at by the medical profession. Today, my mother will ask the same question 5 times in a row in the span of 20 minutes. She forgets anything she is told almost immediately.
Lipitor is killing people, it is a profit thing for Pfizer. When lawsuits exceed profit, it will be pulled, just like Baycol.

I have been taking Lisinopril for about the last maybe 8 to 10 years. It started with 20 miligrams and has now gone to 40 miligrams. Recently my pharmacy change the manufacturer of their Linsinopril. My face is extremely dry, as well as my hair has dried out so bad, that I am beginning to loose my hair. I honestly just received revelation of this on last night, as I could not figure out why I would stay so dry. I try to drink lots of water, but it seems that I am literally drying out. And to be honest my hair has had so many issues since being on this high dose of Lisinopril. Has anyone experienced dry skin or hair, resuluting in hair loss or extremely dry skin?
