Acute onset of double vision , inability to judge distances, inability to maintain lane while driving on highway; speech aphasia occurence immediately after vision decrement. Resulted in near accident on highway.
Had been on medication for 4 years without a similar event occuring.

I took topmax prescribed by my Veteran's Administration physician for Migraines. Stepped from 25 mg to 100 mg over 3 weeks. I also take effexor. I already have aphasia and the side effects increased those symptoms and it seems from reading here every other one but eye problems. At the strong suggestion of my "back" surgeon, I have quarterly caudal blocks, I stopped immediately. Anyone who must use the VA for medical care knows getting in touch with ones primary physician is problematic at best and nearly impossible often. The worst is I suspect I was let go at work due to the side effects. I am an accountant currently studying for the CPA exam and could not work well and accurately with the side effects. The only reason I tried this med was to prevent waking up in the middle of the night throwing up with a migraine and losing time at work due to migraines.
From now on I will simply use the injectors of imatrex that may be a major pain, literally and leave me losing a day when I must use it from knocking me out. It seems that I always get every bloody side effect from every med I take. Botton line is, I will never take this medication again.

taking metprolol for high bp since last fall (slmost one year).
It has decreased my ability to coordinate my movements--I am clumsier. I have gained 12 pounds, and find that my weight has become a real struggle, in spite of much exercise and activity. I am depressed, and my short-trem memory is impaired. I learn new information only with great difficulty.
Sometimes, lately, I have transient moments of aphasia.
I guess its time to see my Dr. and change meds, because this beta blocker Rx is really hurting my quality of life.

I have been on Topamax since 5/2004 for depression. Currently down to 100mg/day
Negative side effects:
Memory loss
Aphasia
Weight gain (I actually began binge eating and gained 60 pounds on Topamax after having lost 120 pounds on atkins -pre topamax)
Sleep irregularity
Irritability
Leg cramps, stomach pain
Lethargy
Positive side effects
No more migraines, but I am not sure I have a brain left that can feel pain!
The depression is not crippling, but certainly not cured.

Has anyone heard of Neurontin causing Aphasia? My 8yo daughter has had repeated episodes of Aphasia (loss of speech) this weekend which are--probably--seizures (she has Epilepsy) but I was wondering about the possibility of a side effect. She's taking 2400mg split between 4 doses of 600mg each day (just for 2 weeks, instead of 3 doses of 800mg/day). We get an EEG done tomorrow and I pray it shows something...

I have been on topamax for 2 months, just up to 100 MG. I am loosing my hearing, have blurred vision, still have headaches and have been told that they might be permanent. Lets just say I am not impressed. Not to mention all the other BS side affect, nausea, stomach pains, loss of appetite, Mental changes, confusion, Giving me ADD and cutting my IQ from 145 to 80, aphasia, headache, depression, too many to mention. I hate the stuff and am tapering off now.
