I am a 51 year old woman and I have been on Lisinopril for about 12 months. At first it was 20mg, then increased to 40mg per day. I started having shortness of breath and decided to cut back to the 20mg after a month or so. I am a nurse so I often adjust meds that I am on. I found this board about two months ago. I am so glad I did! I have BP of about 126/82 on meds. I have just stopped the 20mg two days ago, after developing more chest pain. I have lost all the weight that I needed to and eat a low salt diet now. I already feel better today. Chest pain is almost gone. I see my DR. tomorrow about all of this. I am going to try to stay off all HTN meds if I can! I had so many side effects that I never realized were being caused by this horrible drug. Some of them included: chest pain, shortness of breath, rib pain, extreme hair loss, tingling in all extremities, joint pain, muscle pain, headache, loss of appetite, loss of sex drive, difficulty thinking and comprehension, memory loss. I just wanted to let others know that I also know this drug is very dangerous. I am hopeful that I will continue to feel better as the weeks go by.

Hello,
I've tried a bunch of different brands and types of BC's in the past, and none ever worked well with me... then i started Yasmin. It worked wonders. helped my acne, cramps, length of my period etc... i was on it for about 1 year. i stopped BC and had my son (Nov 18 09) .. my doc told me to get back on the pill about 2 months after my son was born and i have been on it since.. lately I've been noticing that I'm not me anymore... i can't remember the last time I've felt like myself.. depression, lack of motivation, hopelessness, i get irritated over the stupidest things, LOW sex drive, LIKE NONE AT ALL, lack of confidence, loss of appetite, loss of hair ongoing 9 months after birth and getting worse, bad menstrual cramps, bad acne, dark colored urine, strange vaginal discharge before my period, longer periods, migraines, mood swings, irrational thoughts and outburst, dizzy spells, blurred (black) vision upon standing, seeing spots and light headed, etc... i attributed all of this to postpartum hormonal imbalance, stress, etc... but I'm now considering the fact that maybe Yasmin is doing this to my body... so i will stop the pill or switch it, my next appointment is only in a month so no sex till then, but yet again my libido is completely gone so that will be no problem... (ahh my POOR BF) lol

all this to say that if it was postpartum depression, my son wouldn't be the only reason i get up in the morning, i wouldn't get up at all...

i know that this isn't postpartum depression... I'm positive that it's Yasmin causing all this i know at least that some of it is..

What i don't understand is that we all have a bunch of docs that ignore us and our bodies.. this isn't only happening to on person this is a lot of people who have had similar and sever reactions to this pill, it should really be taken off the market, or at least doctors should warn us about the "other" side effects...

anyways I'm DONE with this pill and will tell all my friends.

it at least feels good to get this off my chest... it's hard to talk about this stuff to people who are close to you...

All this sounds crazy but makes sense at the same time...

thank god i found this site!

My experience with yaz was terrible. i have been anxious and tired unable to sleep, moody, loss of appetite, loss of interest in anything, i feel depressed. i don't get excited or happy or sad or angry i don't really feel any emotions. i did stop taking yaz but it is still in my system and therefore still effecting me, my boyfriends brothers girlfriend also took yaz and in her very own words "this is the devil pill". i must agree. i would not recommend yaz to anyone. i am 18 years old.

I was on Loestrin Fe 24 for 9 months, and after already two months I had horrible mood swings, loss of appetite, loss of weight (15lb), weakness, tiredness, nausea, sex drive decreased, and worse of all now I have a digestion problem. Whenever I eat carbohydrates I feel full quickly, bloated and constant discomfort. I am off the pills fnow or half a year and the digestion problem did not disappear yet, it makes me miserable. I was wondering if anyone had a similar problem and a potential solution...

I have been taking topamax since april of 2008, about 6 months now. Just recently I was increased from 50mg to 75mg for my migraines. I have short term memory loss, nausea, no appetite at all, shortness of breath, trouble sleeping, and all of a sudden terrible anxiety and panic attacks which started out of no where. I feel like my heart is beating out of my chest and I am going to die. It is horrible I cant stand it. I went to the ER and got the standard tests and they said my heart was fine and to follow up with my regular Doctor. No matter what I do I cant calm my self down it is just aweful. I am not sure I can live with these side effects, its too muc

Lisinopril robs the body of Zinc. I have been viciously researching this med and I found that a lot of symptoms posted here are zinc deficiency symptoms. Maybe a zinc supplement will help especially with the hair loss.
Signs of Zinc Deficiency
• behavioral and sleep disturbances

• dandruff

• delay in wound healing

• diarrhea

• different kinds of skin lesions such as eczema, psoriasis and acne

• growth retardation

• hair loss

• hang nails

• hyperactivity

• increased allergic sensitivity

• inflammation of your nail cuticles

• inflammatory bowel disease

• loss of appetite

• loss of senses of taste or smell

• loss of sex drive

• mild anemia

• pre-eclampsia (toxaemia) in pregnancy and post-natal depression

• pre-menstrual syndrome, disturbance in your menstrual cycle

• reduced fertility

• skin dryness and rashes

• white spots on fingernails, transverse lines and poor nail growth

I had no trouble coming of Effexor 6 years ago. No side effects, nothing. In past attempts, I'd merely suffered recurrence of depression, but this time, not even that. I was on Effexor-XR, 75mg and Wellbutrin-SR 100mg and went off both.

At the time, I was receiving neurofeedback to try and overcome ADHD (which is what the wellbutrin treated for me). It seems that this method of re-programming brain wave patterns might have reduced or eliminated any withdrawal effects from these drugs. Can't guarantee it, though, since I'm my own guinea pig here.

Just started back on after being off for 6 years. Hopefully short term. This depression is reactive due to several losses. So far the only side effects are appetite loss and vivid dreams, and I had vivid dreams in the first go around too, so I'm not too concerned. They went away in time.

Female, 30 years old. Began taking five day course of z-pak for bronchitis., abdominal pain from the beginning, better with food. Day five, abdominal pain much worse, ending with diarrhea. Did not take last dose. Day six, diarrhea persisting, frequent watery stool, dizziness, appetite loss, feeling completely drained. Day seven, began taking anti- diarrheal, seemed better. Went to Dr., advised fluids of course. Later that day, managed to eat a good meal, pushing fluids. Some intestinal pain but feeling generally better. Then: anti- diarrheal not really working anymore. Constant watery stools, feeling severely fatigued, completely drained, dizzy, ringing in ears, chills. Called hospital and spoke to nurse, advised ER visit: probable dehydration. I have been sick for 18 days including z-pak. Would never recommend this medication. The side effects are worse than the bronchitis.

I have been on Topamax for a little over a year. I've had most of the side effects; tingling, numbness in the fingers, dry mouth, forgetfulness, and weight loss - love the weight loss. All the side effects have sort of slowed down as I've been on the medication longer. The weight loss has slowed and I've even began to get my appetite back- I'm afraid I'm going to start gaining weight now! I've lost about 40 pounds and I needed to lose it, so that was wonderful. I've had a very hard time losing weight all my life so this was wonderful.

I was addicted to Coca Cola and this med also helped me kick that habit because I lost my taste for the carbonation.

Does anyone know if the weight loss usually evens out after about a year or a year and a half? I need to lose about 30 more pounds and was hoping that I would continue losing weight!

Anyway, I was on the Topamax for headaches and it has completely helped that! It has truly been a God-send for me. Other than monthly hormone headaches, I don't get migraines hardly at all!

I am wondering about having my doc up my dosage for the weight loss aspect????

I hate the NuvaRing. I used it almost two years ago for three weeks on, one week off, only one week on again and I had to remove it immediately because I realized it was the cause of many very very bad symptoms. The first three weeks on I had severe cramping in my legs and stomach, headaches, nausea, acne, fatigue, loss of appetite, loss of sex drive, social anxiety, loss of self-confidence, crying episodes several times daily, and the worst of all was that I lost the will to live. Not to mention, having sex with the ring was awful. It made me extremely dry and my boyfriend and I both experienced an unbearable burning sensation. I didn't know who I was anymore, fighting constantly with everyone around me, my boss, boyfriend, friends, family. Once considered a workaholic and superstar at work, I left my job and was diagnosed with severe anxiety and depression because it screwed with my hormones so badly. I get chills whenever I recall what it felt like to be on the ring. It screwed with my life. I was on the ring for only two weeks when I actually had a nervous breakdown at work in front of my manager right before a big deadline. Being accustomed to tight deadlines 60 hour work weeks and ridiculously rigid and unreasonably demanding managers, crying in front of someone in the workplace was not who I was. At 25 I had a senior title, rapidly making my way up the corporate ladder. Two years later, I'm unemployed and trying to piece my life back together. I am also reluctant now to try any other birth control fearing that the side effects would be just as deadly. Just awful. I'm glad that all the other women are brave enough to share their stories here. I came across this forum while on the ring but couldn't stop crying long enough to type.

WHAT!!!??? ANTHRAX TREATMENT??? NO WAY!!!
I have never had so many side effects from any pill!!!
I just did a little online research on my twice a day 100mg Doxycycline, and I didn't see hardly any side affects listed.(I think asprin had more.lol) Anyways, I'm taking the med for a possible bacteria infection in which I kinda complained to my wife about alot. Now, I know i'm driving her crazy after I've been complaning about HEART BURN, DIZZINESS, CRAMPS IN SIDES AND LOWER BACK(bed time hours), APPETITE LOSS, LOSS OF ENERGY, SHORTNESS OF BREATH, CONFUSION. This is only my 3rd day on the medication. The crazy part for me about taking the pill is thinking it's the illness that is causing the problems, not the pill. Now for the positives- (1)Hopefully getting rid of my bacteria.(2) Regular bowl movements that I am very proud of!!!
REMEMBER TO FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS TO A TEE. THIS STUFF IS NO JOKE, IT'S GIVEN TO SOME PEOPLE THAT ARE EXPOSED TO ANTHRAX.

I am soooo glad i looked up this website because all the side effects i was experiencing i thought were just me. i mean i was prescribed sulfameth for a UTI and my doctor told me it might just give me a slight rash-but it turns out that i got an EXTREME headache like someone was bashing me in the head with a sledgehammer, i was very nauseated and vomited up blood.(Mydoctor told me it was because i took ibuprofen-i took it to stop the ridiculous headache i had for TWO DAYS!-she said it caused stomach bleeding) also, i experienced restlessness, i was uncontrollably anxious, appetite loss, dizziness, and uncontrollable sweating. i would wake up and feel like i just got out of the shower! i don't think im going to take this medicine anymore because im suppossed to be on it for 3 more days but i DONT THINK SO!!! i thank all of you for showing me this useful information.

I have lupus and a congenital malformation of my cervical spine which causes lots of pain and inflammation.
Anyway, my side effects are always the same -
Hyperactivity, loss of appetite, loss of weight, insomnia,
and an overzeolousness that only an employer loves of is employee... who suddenly wants everything done perfectly..... I become exhausted and have to take sleeping pills to get any rest or I will NOT SLEEP at all...no fun when you are on 75 mg and tapering on and off .... the horrible thing is I get these symtoms even on small dosages...it is like being on speed or some hyper drug...I don't know what else to take for my lupus that helps with pain and other problems I have. I just want to sleep and not feel manic...
