I've been on NuvaRing since April 1 after having my IUD-Mirena removed. I have been bleeding since, and it has been dark thick blood not like my period. My doctor was surprised to hear that I was bleeding at all since the IUD came out and NR went right in, the hormones never stopped. I have been so moody, irritable, and lost my sex drive, too. I had a bad painful break out (chest, neck, face, back) in the 1st month, it has since calmed down but left some scars. I also had terrible leg cramps in the 1st month, they did a scan and found no sign of clots in my leg. Just last week I had a terrible sharp pain in my chest which was tender to the touch and remained for a few days but eased away... now wondering if that was related? I thought I would give it time to straighten out (I am 29 yrs old and have yet to find BC that doesn't screw me up) and see if I can live with it. I may try 1 more month but I don't think its the BC for me, either. Thanks for all the info!

I started taking OMEPRAZOLE on April 1 and stop taking it on April 9 due to my heart started feeling like it was in my throat. I'm of balance, high pulse rate, dizziness, and rapid spells of burping. Before taking this medication I was having some stomach problems and was prescribed this medication to clear them up but once I started taking it, I started feeling even worse. I ended up in the ER and had multiply doctors appointment within a week of taking this medication. I had a EKG and everything was normal but I feel like crap.

I had Mirena placed when my husband got back from Iraq. That was 5 years ago this month. All those years, I loved that I didn't have to worry about periods or birth control. Unfortunately, I had to worry about everything else. I blamed everything on stress. Learning to be a family again when my husband got home was hard. Then, we had no income for a year after he left the Army. Then, he got a new job and we moved and I went back to school. Stress, stress, stress. I blamed my weight gain on stress. I blamed my constant heartburn and acid indigestion on the weight gain. I had joint issues that I also blamed the weight for. I had chest pains and actually was afraid I was having a heart attack--I'm only 36 now. I thought being fat was the reason for that too.

I figured I just needed to lose 50 pounds. I'd go to the gym and get on track. I was hardly eating anything, since everything made me sick. I'd plan to go to the gym, but the next day, (I don't work, just go to school online), I'd have no energy. I would stay in bed for hours. I stopped cleaning my house, didn't care what my kids ate for dinner. I stopped doing my hobbies. I was so depressed. I saw one other lady here had said that she HATED her husband and he hadn't done anything! Ditto!!! I was ready to file for divorce and the poor guy wasn't even in town!!! He was on a business trip!

I had the Mirena taken out April 1. Yesterday, I went to the doc to confirm (though I already knew it) that my blood pressure was dangerously low. (84/52) I'm not allowed to drive, shower, stand for any length of time... This happens to me when I get sick or my immune system takes a hit. Since I'm having bleeding similar to what others are, I assume that's the problem and my BP will hopefully go up in the next couple of days.
However, I'm happy. That is something I never was before. I'm still tired, but I'm not sleeping on a regular schedule yet.

The biggest thing that no one has mentioned yet is HUNGER!! I'm SOoooo hungry. The day after removal, I woke with my stomach growling. I don't remember the last time my stomach growled! I can't seem to eat enough, though I'm scared to gain more weight! I'm thinking maybe my metabolism is going back to normal??!! Anyway, anyone else had this?

K.

Has anyone gotten the injection in the arm?? I did for allergy symptoms on April 1, 2008, from an ENT doctor. It seemed to help for a while but I have since noticed I have become depressed and worried about dying. I also had really bad muscle spasms/cramping in both upper arms, which have finally gone away, but I still have a fullness feeling in my armpit area. I have had my regular doc check it a couple of times now and he can feel no lumps. I wish I never would have gotten this shot!!

Hello,
I have just found out about this and have been on cipro and levaquin and guess what. 2 weeks ago i was jumping in a pool and the tendon in my arch let loose. I went to the orthopedic doctor and he sent me for MRI then put me in a boot cast. It felt like i stood on a golf ball and it still hurts like hell. I have problems walking on it still. My doctor stated that i will most likely be flat foooted now in the foot that the tendon let loose. then i seen this on the news. Damn i have never had problems in my foot. He called planter facititus.

I am one of many that has decided to stop giving my child Singulair. And like many others, I have noticed a great improvement in her behavior.

My question is for those who have done the same. What medication have you replaced the Singulair with and have you noticed any of the same side effects that Singulair was causing? What are your thoughts on Flovent inhaler?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey all. Reeces mom. I posted April 1. We went to the Dr. yesterday and she brushed off the singulair issues. She said that she was not convinced that it is the cause of his probs. She did state that she understood if I wanted to try claritin. I respect her and she is a great dr. but in my heart I feel that singulair was the cause and time only convinces me more. I can see it in his eyes and feel it from his hugs. To even get a hug from him is a miracle. He has been off the meds for 1wk. today. He is pleasent to be around.!! I don't know what else to do if anything, except I want EVERYONE to have the info and make their on minds about it!!!

I'm in the same boat with so many of you parents. After MY parents sent me a link to the news story, I broke down in tears. My 8 1/2 yo daughter has been taking Singulair (5mg) daily for 5 years.

She is the oldest of 3 and has some emotional issues we've always attributed to her personality: mood swings, rage that will last anywhere from 2 minutes to an hour, over-emotional, and yes, even at age 5 she said she wished she was dead. We were shocked, wondering where in the world that idea had come from. I can't say it was caused by Singulair, but it very well could be a factor. Our other two children just don't have the same issues she has with emotions. As a side note, over the years (and just yesterday as a matter of fact, she has complained of severe leg pain. Again, I never thought that would be a side effect of this medication.)

Lately, her allergy/asthma doc has been prescribing more and more meds for her and we have chosen to not give them to her. We will certainly remove Singulair from her regimen. As a parent, who can we trust? My child can't breathe if she's not on some sort of medication.

I would like to know, as another parent asked, if these side affects will subside once Singulair is discontinued.

I must say that Singulair works to control her allergy-induced asthma, but after seeing the story, reading comments here, and seeing my own daughter's behavior, I don't believe it's worth the risk. She's off this medication as of today!

I'm praying for each of you and your kids!

I went to my family dr on Friday March 24, 2006 complaining of a bad sinus infection. I was given samples of Levaquin 750 mg to take, and was sent for a sinus x-ray. On Tuesday March 28, I received a call from my dr's office saying I have a very severe sinus infection and to continue taking the Levaquin 750mg for a total of 30 days. I went to his office and picked up more samples. Last night, March 31, my knees were a little sore. I thought maybe I climbed the staircase one too many times yesterday....total of about 5 flights of stairs. Today April 1, I can barely walk without pain. My knees are so stiff and sore. I feel as if I am going to fall over if I just get out of bed and try to walk. I have to get my balance before I move. I have propoxy pain pills I received from my dr last week which I am taking but it doesn't seem to help too much. I think Tylenol for Arthritis is working better for me. I remember having this exact pain once before and after checking my precription history I found I had taken Levaquin the last time that I had such knee pain. I have no doubt that the pain is caused by the Levaquin. Since all my pills were given to me by the dr and not through a precription, I had no list of side effect to check. I definitely will be contacting my dr on Monday morning.
