Ive been taking berocca for almost a year now. but not really taking it straight like once in a day for a year, but there was also a time that i skip for a month.

Im a recreational biker and there was a month that i took berocca 2 week straight and i take it during night time before i sleep so ill be pump up for the ride in the morning.

After the two week straight this is where the symptoms took place i am having a manageable pain on my lower right rib (the part where my last rib ends), my wife told me its the liver part on that area of the body. I was thinking its just a muscle pain on one of my bike rides.

but i stopped taking it not because of the pain but its because i run out of stock. I already forgot about the pain but after a month i bought the vitamins again i drank one tablet and hit the road, while on my bike i felt the pain on my lower right rib again. but this time it made me think its not a muscle pain at all because its been 3 weeks i stopped biking. Just today when i want to just bike around the city.

I haven't gone to the doctor yet/

My 2 year old son started taking Singulair chewable tablets last year. I noticed that his behavior changed every day after giving him the medicine. He would become easily excited, run around the house, and act like he didn't have common sense. When I talked to his doctor about this, she thought it might be from the aspartame in the pills. Since he started using the packet powder without aspartame, he has been fine. The medicine really works for treating his asthma. He is now 3. I am concerned about the recent findings. He is too young to tell me how he feels. Has anyone had an experience with aspartame in relation to Singulair?

I am 22, I have Lupus and RA. I am on other meds too but I am more than positive that Prednisone has brought about my moon face and maybe my sleepless nights. I workout everyday and in the best shape I have been in my whole life but it sucks because I am only able to be this healthy because I am on all these meds including Prednisone. I probably would be using a walker. So basically its a choice of vanity(huge head) or good health. But I have asked my doctor to lower my doses. Was at 30mg, I am now at 20....hopefully I can get down to just 5mg and still be able to move my joints as freely as I do now

I came across this website last night and was very shocked, but also relieved as to what I read. My 8 year old son has been on Singulair for about 3-4 months now. He had some minor behavioral problems before, but since being on the drug, it has become in my opinion, out of control. He has been having increasing problems in school-not listening, not following directions or staying on task, even yelling at the teacher. At home he has been really aggressive and punches the walls when he gets angry. Every little thing sets him off.

I had a wierd feeling last night that maybe it was because of the Singulair and ran a google search and found this blog. I was amazed to see how many other children were experiencing the same thing. I was relieved though too to find out that I wasn't going crazy or in this alone.

I spoke to my son's doctor's office (allergist) and he CONFIRMED that there have been a small number of incidents of this same thing having been reported and that Singulair contains ASPARTAME. My son is now going off the meds for one month to see if there is an improvement in his behavior.

I immediately called my pediatricians office and let him know-the nurse said that they were not aware of the side effects or that the drug contained aspartame.

I am going to reiterate everything that other people have already said-call your doctor and let them know and report the side effects to the FDA. We have to do it! Understand everyone has different reactions to medications, but we don't want more children to have to go through these feelings or more parents to feel frustrated.

i was originally prescribed bendrofluazide for high bp but this caused gout. a locum doctor then changed the prescription to lisinopril. i have been taking it for a couple of years and since then i have had various problems. i had severe itching of my hands and then all over my body. a friend suggested this could have been caused by the pain killers i was taking - paracetamol and codeine - so i changed this to to a different one (paracetamol and dihydrocodeine). but although the itching lessened it still goes on. also i have discomfort in both my big toes (could this still be gout?) when i visit the doc my bp is high they tell me, but when i take it at home it is within the correct limits. i suffer from anxiety anyway so tend to put any symptoms down to this but having found this site i realise that maybe this is wrong and that other people have also had similar problems to those i have encountered.

i am not happy with the big drug companies as so many others of you also feel. i was put on strontium ranelate for osteoporosis but the aspartame in this made me so ill i had to stop taking it. the drug company says it is not going to take this ingredient out despite several people getting in touch with them.

i don't know what to do about the lisinopril as i am worried that if i just stop taking it there may be other problems. i have been on bp drugs for around seven years. i am coming up to my seventieth birthday. any ideas would be welcome please.

My son is 8 and has Autism. In the last two months he has been taking Singulair. In the last two months I have noticed him progressively getting very aggressive and unable to tolerate disappointments etc. He's been very whiney. It's to a point where he is out of control with his moods. He hauls off and hits me, other kids and adults. Like a monster has taken over. He can't seem to calm down and it's hard for him to tell me what is going on because of his Autism. He has never been this extreme and had such a long bout of horrible behavior. I forgot he had started this new medication for his allergy related asthma/wheezing. I did not figure it out but I am convinced this may have been the trigger for his uncontrollable behavior. We had a huge embarrassing incident today at camp where he ran into the school he was not suppose to be in, then came back and pushed this boy and attacked his Mom by pulling her arm nearly knocking her over, pinching her arm and squeezing it very hard! I was shocked at his behavior. Kicked and hit me and the counselor and squeezed my boob really hard, lifted my shirt up several times, just totally out of control. I had to lay on him practically to control him and I cried in shock and fear and wondered if this was my son! It took a long time to calm him down. He is going off the medication today and we are talking to several other doctors and going to a neurologist. He has sleepless nights too and dry mouth. Please watch out if you already have a child with issues. Worried and sad Mom!

Sounds like your husband may be on aspartame too. Does he use Nutrasweet products or diet drinks? If so go to www.sweetpoison.com and check out Dr.Janet Starr Hull's own almost surgery from a thyroid condition she had until she figured out what was killing her.

I do take Lisinopril and have severe itching on my arms.

Zyrtec has helped my one year old's eczema. My eldest who is now 6 has taken it for a year now. I have seen some possible mild behavior responses. Now that he doesn't need it as much we are testing this possibility. I would suggest looking into which type of zyrtec a child is taking. You may want to question the use of aspartame sweetner as a possible culprit in causing issues with behavior and stomach issues.

I have asthma and used to get chronic bronchitis, twice a year for aprox. 30-40 yrs. I lost my husband 4 yrs ago and began having migraines. In addition to prednisone, I was a guinea pig for migraine meds. and pain relievers. Eventually we found that a beta blocker would prevent and another drug would relieve a migraine so i was loaded for bear. I also took about 8 advil every day just to move my hips in the morning. I was loosing control of my weight again. Feeling depressed about what I was doing to my self.
One day I heard about MSG and remembered a teacher in 1980 telling me to "stay away from that stuff, its poison" and we would laugh and say "Alright, Mr Rhodes" and keep eating the cheese curls because they were soo good. well I became curious and started researching MSG and I was amazed and appauled. Google it sometime, and follow the webring on the bottom of some of the pages. It hit home with me. I began changing my eating habits for me and my children. It was a slow process and alot of trial and error, but we have found foods that everyone likes and I balance it out. My 12 year old daughter was slow to come around, but she began trying new stuff and seeing that "healthy" isnt all bad. I use only whole wheat flour, brown raw sugar, NO ASPERTAME EVER, fresh druits and veggies, small portions of meat, and organic when i can afford to. I have lost 49 lbs since november and i feel great! after some weight came off I began to exercise, and slowly stopped taking medications. Today I am happy to say that I am drug free, Not even advil and I blame MSG as the main culprit. Other things I avoided is hydrogelated/hydrogenated oils of any kind, high fructose corn sugar. If I can help even one person by sharing my experience I am grateful. Please if you have trouble, try to live MSG free. Its hard work at first but you learn what is good and what is not. Oh my daughter has lost weight too and is thrilled!! Best regards. Teri

This is a follow up post to June 2nd by foureyes. We consulted his Dr. and was advised to try 10mg tabs split in half and he either swallows the half, it can be crushed and put in apple sauce or something like it. The "adult" singulair does not contain red dye or aspartame like the "children's" . He can not be with out it, (we found out) the air quaility where we live is horrible right now and he started weezing. He also had a bit of a cold, which in his case is a trigger, as he is not a chronic asthma pt.................so our adventure continues, I will post with his tolerence of the split 10m .

My son was 4 when he started singulair chewable tablets for children for his allergies (winter and spring) he took it for 2 months and then we started noticing that he started to stutter/ stammer. His sppech was not like before. He would also make facial expressions like he is trying to force the words out with his eyes looking up. He also became excessively sensitive and emotional. He would cry over anything. He appeared depressed. Then I decided to look into his medication. I looked at a few websites and found other parents had complained about similar side effects - then one smart parent noted that singulair chewable tablets for kids contained large doses of ASPARTAME ! It was clearly labeled on the medication by Merck but to my shock it meant that I was giving my son with each tablet the equivalent of 5 cans of diet coke worth of aspartame ! Turns out aspartame is one of of the most horrendous things to anyone. If you visit websites about the subject you will be shocked at what the popular diet soda sweetner causes. Apparently it was the culprit. I took him off the medication immediately and his speech became normal within a couple of weeks. The same smart parent noted in her posting that she/he had given their child a split adult dose of singulair - since IT DOES NOT CONTAIN ASPARTAME ! apparently they put it in the children dose as a sweetner since it is chewable.... may be worth a try since the medication was very effective with the allergy symptoms - but for me I am gonna have to try to find an alternative...

I see no similarity of 'aspertame disease' with the experiences we have had with singulair. If you've lived it, you know it is unmistakable, singulair is the culprit. My daughter has had aspertame before & after her singulair nightmare & never had a problem. Singulair turned her into a monster. No singulair, no monster. If it quacks like a duck, it's a duck. Singulair is poison.

After taking my 2 yr. old son to the emergency room 3 days ago with a high fever, was given Augmentin. They determined he had a red throat and shoved this awful medicine down his throat. They said it was a precaution incase he had an infection, so it wouldn't get worse. I have no choice but to continue to give it to him now.

He is normally an easy going kid. Since I have been giving Augmentin to him he has been very cranky, and miserable. He has diareah and is now developing a red rash. It's barely noticeable but it's spreading all over his body and it's a little darker than it was yesterday. His appetite is not as good as it was either.

Oh, one of its ingredients is aspertame. This sweetner has been known to cause grand mal seizures and migraines. What is this doing in a childs medicine? In any medicine for that matter? Is there an alternative to this medicine out there?
