I started full body internal itching after taking 10 days of Singulair. The physician that prescribed it said it couldn't cause itching. My new doctor tested for Lupus, I have an autoimmune disorder called Churg Strauss. After undergoing several steroid treatments and 3 days of IV Prednisone I got some relief. This has been going on for 6 months now. The itching becomes severe enough to make me want to commit suicide. Luckily it is pretty controlled by taking nightly doses of Atarax along with Periactin. Thank God I found a doctor who cared enough to search out the symptoms and help me get thru day by day.

Okay...I'm really freaked out!!! Just got back from the pharmacy with Singulair only to find my tv bombarded with news on the suicide risks. I'm an adult asthmatic with severe allergies and have always been on Allegra and various inhalers, nebulizer etc.... For the first time, even after requesting allegra, the doctor (specialist) told me to try this new plan instead it consists of daily dosages of atarax, asmanex, xyzol, singulair, and maxair...I feel over prescribed and don't know what to do. All day today I felt groggy and irritated...and at this point want to thor everything in the garbage because I'm scared.

I was given 20 mg of Prednisone for 10 days for a rash and joint pain.
The pain went away and I felt great the rash got a little better. Two days ago I took my last pill. I woke up that night and my knees gave out. By morning I was great! Next night I woke with knee problem again had to slide down the stairs to the living room. I got to wondering if the knee thing could be associated with the Prednisone. I got on line and read all this terrible stuff. I am so Horrified! Today I am in pain like my body is bruised and my face is swollen a little. I have acid reflux as well. Non of this is typical for me. My knee thing is ok again, but I am just appalled! I have no MED insurance. I hope this isn't the beginning of worse things I am not taking that drug now. The Dr. didn't say I needed to taper...
I hope I have not damaged myself by taking this drug! My heart goes out to all of you! My question is - Why are the Dr.'s prescribing this terrible drug?

I have been on Topamax for a little over a year. I've had most of the side effects; tingling, numbness in the fingers, dry mouth, forgetfulness, and weight loss - love the weight loss. All the side effects have sort of slowed down as I've been on the medication longer. The weight loss has slowed and I've even began to get my appetite back- I'm afraid I'm going to start gaining weight now! I've lost about 40 pounds and I needed to lose it, so that was wonderful. I've had a very hard time losing weight all my life so this was wonderful.
I was addicted to Coca Cola and this med also helped me kick that habit because I lost my taste for the carbonation.
Does anyone know if the weight loss usually evens out after about a year or a year and a half? I need to lose about 30 more pounds and was hoping that I would continue losing weight!
Anyway, I was on the Topamax for headaches and it has completely helped that! It has truly been a God-send for me. Other than monthly hormone headaches, I don't get migraines hardly at all!
I am wondering about having my doc up my dosage for the weight loss aspect????

Went on a 6 day dose of methylpred to stop a 16 day migraine. (worked on 4th day) Side effects: cleared a 45 yr problem with eczema that NO ONE had cleared before! I have energy like I had at 25, I am an arithric 52 year old.
A problem I had with itchy skin, was taking 100 mgs of atarax a day, that problem is gone.
Can I stay on this stuff forever? I'm in love with it, what is this?! Tomorrow is my last day. :-( My house hasn't been this clean in years, I've cleaned my son's, too!

I have been on lisinopril for 1 year and for one year I have had a dry choking cough and have had what I describe as sever insomnia. Needless to say, I have been put on an antidepressant and ambien cr to help me make it through my days without high panic and then ambien because the insomnia has lasted for more than 3 months (tylenol, lunesta, atarax, plus about 2 others have been tried with no success).
I happened to be in my meditation to help me get thru my work day (frequent breaks or become visibly panicked). The ambien does not keep me asleep and with suspicion I am doing this keyword search and landed here. I will go back to my doctor to talk about switching and the connectedness of my symptoms. He has not listened in the past, but I hope he will or I will find a new primary. I am so very misarable without sleeping a full night and always feeling like I'm in someone else's body. I lost 42 pounds 2.5 years ago and have been told that my sleeplessness is a result of weight loss and need for less sleep. Sleep study found no apnea, etc.
I've had days where I just wanted to drive off the bridge from this disconnected and out of control feeling.
Thanks for all who contribute to this site. Otherwise I would still feel like the only one with this issue. I now have a little hope.

After reviewing my record of previous reactions to antibiotics (because so many of them make me nauseous), I was prescribed this med for 20 days for an upper respiratory infection. I took for 5 days without any problems, I woke up on the 6th day with severe adnominal pain and nausea. Because my doctor was on vacation went to a different doctor in his office. Reminded him about the med I was on, but hadn't bothered me yet. He determined it was gastroentreritis probably caused by previous nights dinner, so he prescribed Nexium. But also had me do an upper sonogram to check for gallstones because by gallbladder seemed tender. The sonogram showed nothing wrong. I didn't take any medication that day. I took the Nexium and the sulfameth the next day (Saturday). I had flu like symptoms all day, aches and pains all over, face swollen, headache. I awoke Sunday with a rash all over my body, just itched in a few places, no apetite but thought I was feeling better. Thats when I started reading this site about all the side effects and deteremined the Sulfameth was the problem. Could not sleep at all Sunday night, my legs hurt so badly. I had other pains in back, arms, hands but my legs were the worst. I finally went to the emergency room at 4:30 in the morning because I couldn't take the pain. They ran blood test to determine nothing wrong. I don't think anyone believed it was a reaction to Sulfameth because I had taken for 5 days without problems. Prescribed Atarax and Prednisone for the rash (which was going away). Was reluctant to take any medication, but my doctors office confirmed this would also help the joint pain. I took and could feel a little difference, at least was able to sleep some. But still severe pain in my legs, took another dose of Atarax and actually woke up with most of the pain gone. I also had the vivid dreams. This was the sickest I have ever been, the pain was relentless.

I was put on Pred. for severe hives after treatments for cancer (aggressive chemo and radiation) once the burns healed I came down with severe hives all over. I was put on Allegra, Clarinex, Zyrtec, Prednisone (60mg), Singulair, Advair, Atarax, and Preventil twice a day. I began feeling like a junky and the pharmacy would question my refills. I have the moon face and weight gain, with cancet treatments and prednisone total gain is 80lbs. I was ready to give up, between the pills, the massive side effects and the hives. I was intrduced to an awesome high antioxident through Market America. I started taking 4 capfuls per day and within a week stopped all my meds. cold turkey. I got hives worse the first 3 days but I was told that would happen while my system detoxed. My doctor added Plaqunel (to cover his butt) but it takes 3 months to get into your system and it is not a steriod. I still get a few hive now and then when I eat something (Red dye, barley-beer) but after I take my OPC-3 they go away without any medication not even OTC meds.
If you want information on the antioxidants I am taking you can find information at www.4thebetterlife.com or e-mail me at ******. I am also taking vitamin C and B12 with the OPC-3 because they assist with inflamation and histimine levels. I am working on the weight (I still gained and was on Weight watcher the whole time) and my face is SLOWLY returning, its been 2 months. I wish you all the best. I will never go on a drug again without researching it first and looking for more natural ways to take care of the problems and this is coming from someone who had 20-50% chance of living through my cancer P.N.E.T. Sarcoma. I am doing great no and I am cancer free and I am getting my life back after steriods.

I recently received a Kenalog injection for poison ivy. I've had an allergic reaction to it. I have a red incredibly itchy rash all over my torso, arms, and lower back/hips. My doctor gave me a Rx for atarax to help with the itching. My concern is how long does Kenalog stay in your system. How long am I going to have this rash that is made worse my heat and cold? Is it going to affect being in the sun or my regular workouts? I can't take anti-itch medication for ever. When will this end????

I had a cortisone injection into my left knee on Friday, June 5th and immediately started to react. Within an hour, I had extreme redness and heat in my face, neck and upper chest. Wheezing, hives in throat and mouth and behind my ears. Extreme headache that came on suddenly and started in the back of my head and stretched to the front. Dizziness, chest discomfort. I went to the ER and was given a nebulizer treatment, benadryl IV and prednisone because the doctors at the ER felt that I must have had an allergic reaction to some medication that was mixed with the cortisone injection, because they said that to be allergic to cortisone is very rare. About 20 minutes after they gave me 60mg of oral prednisone, they started my benadryl IV. I felt such a hot rush to my face, my ears were burning. Eventually, the reaction calmed down and they sent me home with a prednisone taper and benadryl every 4 to 6 hrs. Sunday morning, I took 60mg of the prednisone and within 20 minutes I knew that I was in trouble so I took 50mg of benadryl and on the advice of my doctor, called an ambulance. In the ambulance, I was given oxygen, a nebulizer and more benadryl IV. After that morning, I knew that my problem was the steroid. I hadn't had any sleep since Thursday, I had been nauseous ands been battling chest discomfort and a very bad headache. I spoke with my doctor on Monday and he wanted me to take Atarax,25mg, every 3 to 4 hours. I saw him on Tuesday and I went to an allergist on Wednesday. She started me on 50 mg of zyrtec twica a day and 25mg of Atarax at night to see if this would help the reaction that I continue to have. She said that it could be several weeks, at least, that I will continue to react, until the injectable steroid is out of my system. It had been 13 days, and Im still reacting.
