I lasted for one week on Nuvaring.... put it in on 7/26, took it out on 8/2. I expected some slight hormonal type side effects while my body adjusted to the ring... this is my first hormonal BC ever.... Saturday, I couldn't keep my legs still... jittery and anxious, cramped and so uncomfortable. Yesterday I got a very bad dizzy spell while in the shower. Over the next several hours, the dizzy spells came more frequently and got stronger, to the point where I felt I was going to faint. My heart was pounding, I was sweating, my chest felt heavy, and the room was spinning. First spell was at 6:30 am, I took the ring out at 11:00. The spells continued for the next 1/2 hour or so, and I noticed a huge welt above my ear.... hot and sore to the touch, radiating pain down into my neck. I've also had a stiff neck for days, which I didn't attribute to the ring until reading someone elses posting here. I'm feeling better today, though the symptoms have not completely gone away. I presume it will take 7+ days for this crap to get out of my system.

I have used Nasonex for about two years. Last spring, I developed vision problems which I didn't attribute to the Nasonex. In the fall, I was diagnosed with a cataract and glaucoma in my left eye.
I did not have any known risk factors and take very few medicines, so I believe the Nasonex caused the cataract and glaucoma. The first eye doctor never mentioned that the Nasonex could be causing my eye problems so I continued to take it until recently when I discovered it was probably to blame. I am now facing cataract surgery and the new eye doctor I went to told me I have the eye of someone 20 years older.

I just put the NuvaRing in last night and today I just don't feel right. I had a slight headache this morning which I didn't attribute to the ring because I was already on my cycle but I have been on an emotional rollercoaster this morning. After reading the side effects I got scared. I started having shortness of breath, which is one of the signs they tell you to look out for and call the doctor immediately. However, I am not sure if the shortness of breath is from the ring or me having a panic attack which I do have occasionally when I get nervous and/or scared. So needless to say I have called my doctor and asked her to call the pharmacy and refill my RX for the OrthoTricyclen that I was previously on which I will probably start to take tonight after removing this thing. All of this and it hasn't even been 24 hours.

I have been on Femcon for three months now, and I am ready to call it quits. I thought the minty freshness would help me remember to take it-- which it did. Yet, that's been its only positive attribute. I have had yeast infection after infection, sore breasts, and vaginal dryness. I also cramp for about 4 days before I start the brown pills, and start spotting about two days befrore. Emotionally, I feel numb-- except for when I start to cry for no reason. I have to struggle to get myself to do anything. It's awful. I have one white pill left. After that, I'm calling it quits.

During the three weeks I was using 150 mg. Wellbutrin, ringing in the ears gradually increased, mild headaches on top of my head, occasional light spasms around my mouth, constipation, and bladder problems. My sleep was unaffected, and my depression did not lift. My dose was increased to 300 mg, and by the fourth day, I was having serious facial spasms, intense headaches, louder and constant ringing in the ears, almost 'round-the-clock wakefulness, anxiety, difficulty thinking and completing sentences, pounding heart, amplification of sounds, jitters and quaking. I felt like a car, perpetually idling so roughly that all my parts were about to rattle right off the chassis. On the fifth day I took nothing. I've had some chills, a little nausea, headache, neck-ache (Isn't that weird?!) and some ringing, but at a lower volume that's hardly noticeable. This is the fourth day with no Wellbutrin, and I haven't had facial spasms at all in the past couple of days, have less nausea, and the very funky smell produced in my urine from the second week I was on the meds has calmed down. If I'm still in a depression it's been overshadowed by the most awful side effects I could have imagined. It felt like the spector of death was overtaking my body by day four of that 300 mg. dose. I had been on a hefty dose of Zoloft daily for almost ten years and never experienced anything unpleasant other than weight gain, my reason for trying to switch meds because I couldn't quit putting on weight no matter what. I am going to try SAM-e, and suggest that anyone looking for a natural alternative, with the prospect of few and insignificant side effects, do an online search. Whether I find success with the SAM-e, or if it falls short of what I need, I'll post here to let you know what happens. A month ago I thought the depression was the end of the world; I think the cure was worse than the disease.

I found this web site whilst looking for information on the mirena coil and acne. I had mirena number 2 fitted 6 months ago at 46 years old. I had a few blemishes at 40 but didn't relate it to the coil, thinking that age and my hormones were to blame. My second coil which was fitted in June was painful to fit. I have felt pain in my hip on and off since and have bad acne on my face (cheeks). I have suffered dreadful mood swings over the years which I have always put down to my inability to cope with 2 children and a husband who has high standards. My skin is awful and I have to say that clear skin was always an attribute before I had my coil fitted. I am exhausted all of the time and snap at what I recon must be mid cycle.

I've been on Advair for 4 or 5 years and can never find a doctor who will even entertain the notion of taking me off of it. Although I have many symptoms that have been documented by GSK they consider it "very unlikely" that Advair is causing my joint pain, bloating, headaches, mouth sores etc. Last year I had pneumonia (also a reported adverse reaction) and THIS year I was diagnose with osteoporosis (yet another risk). I think these doctors are afraid that if they agree to wean me off & I die they'll get sued. Sorry to be so blunt but the problem is that the last doctor who tried to wean me off (now retired) even contacted the manufacturer & was told there is "currently no protocol" recommended for the cessation of Advair. My asthma got so bad when I tapered off, even with oral steroids he eventually just put me back on, hoping to hear of a protocol later. I'm very frustrated to say the least. Doctors seem to think "well it seems to be working since your still alive". Of course I can't to a certainty attribute all my symptoms to Advair it seems very unlikely that NONE of them are. Can't say if the Advair is directly causing depression but the Advair SITUATION is depressing!

I am a 34 year old male and was on Lipitor for 3 weeks. I had muscle cramps in my shins and the bottom of my feet. I was light headed, dizzy and suffered from nausea. I didn't have any energy or sex drive. I didn't attribute it to the Lipitor right away. I thought I had MS, ALS, muscular dystrophy, etc. I told my doctor about the symptoms and he told me to stop taking the Lipitor. I've been off of the Lipitor for almost two weeks now and the nausea and dizziness are gone. My energy is getting better each day, but I'm still not 100%. The muscles in the bottom of my feet and shins are also getting better but still not 100%. I take a bath every night just to get relief from the symptoms. My doctor has since told me to take CoQ10 to help battle the side effects of Lipitor. He doesn't know how long these side effects will last. Does anyone know how long I can expect these side effects to last? Are they permanent?
I will praise Lipitor for one thing - The side effects caused by it have scared me in to changing my diet and exercise regimen (when I return to being healthy) so I never have to take a drug of this type again.

By taking Yaz my estrogen level was lowered drastically which made sex extremely painful. I also had a horrible mood which I didn't attribute to the pill until I switched and saw a major improvement. I realize this won't effect everyone but if you are experiencing burning after sex, try switching BC to see if that helps...it did for me.

I have been taking Singulair for about a year and a half now, and my mild asthma is totally better. I have noticed a decrease in my shortness of breath, coughing, etc. and my allergy symptoms I struggled with for over 30 years are GONE. I also take Nasonex, so I can also attribute the improvement to that drug. But, I have had dramatic cycles of hair loss, which my hairdresser and doctor have attributed to "stress" even though I am not experiencing more stress than normal (except about the hair loss!) and the main thing for me is weight gain. I am a slim, petite 36 year old and I have gained at least 15 or 20 pounds since I started Singular. I have not decreased my activity level ( I am a waitress and walk about 5 miles each shift easily) or increased my food intake. My doctor and gyne keep telling me it's due to slowing metabolism, and implying that I'm slowing down in activity. I am not. I think it's the Singular, but I'm afraid of the allergy symptoms returning. Anyone else with significant weight gain?

Severe hair breakage/loss. I've always had fairly thick hair - since starting Actonel 35 mg 1x/week, have noticed lots of hair breakage - The actonel is the only thing different in my life in the past 4 months, so I attribute the breakage to the drug - anyone else have severe breakage? This is in addition to severe left hip joint pain, jaw pain, and upset stomach. I'm not going to take any more Actonel.

I've had a horrible dry, hacking cough, both day and night, but especially while I'm laying down trying to sleep. I didn't even think of it being a side effect to Lotrel until I read other users entries. I have only been taking Lotrel for one week, and the cough appeared a day or two after I started taking it. I also have heartburn, which is something I haven't experienced in years! I can only attribute it to the medication since nothing else has changed with my diet.

I had been on Cozaar off and on for about three years. Although the medication did bring my blood pressure down, my weight steadily increased, and no matter what I did, I could not lose a pound. I was tired, depressed, and my vision changed for the worse. I had increased urination, and I also developed a strangling type cough, and would have coughing fits every now and then. I experienced light headedness and a loss of concentration. Initially I did not attribute these symptoms to Cozaar, because they came on gradually. I never needed glasses before Cozaar, my appetite was the same, and I was not on any other prescription drug. About 6 months ago, I decided to ween myself off of Cozaar. During that time I have lost about 20 lbs, without dieting--eating the same way I did on Cozaar. My concentration and energy level has increased, and my vision has improved--I don't need reading glasses anymore. My blood pressure fluctuates from normal to medium-high, so I am looking into more natural remedies to control it. Please remember that drugs treat the symptoms, not the disease.

I have been taking Singulair for allergies for about 4 months now. I have been feeling very lethargic, achy, crabby and out of sorts for the last couple of months. I have also had an upset stomach, nausea and cold sweats here and there. I never really got headaches before taking this medication. I have been getting headaches every day as well. In addition to all of the fun stuff I listed above I have also noticed a bit of weight gain and bloating, but it's difficult to pin that definitively to the Singulair. I have a scheduled doctor's appointment next week to asses the situation.
It just occured to me today to look up the side effects of Singulair, as it is the only medication I am currently taking. Upon reading other people's stories on this site and contrasting them to my own symptoms I think I am going to discontinue use of this medication. I have factored in other influences in my life and I have not had any changes in stress levels or other outside influences to attribute the symptoms I am experiencing.
Thank you to everyone for posting!

I have found since taking this drug that my bowel movements are very difficult. I am not actually constipated, but feel almost impacted. I have never experience this problem before, and attribute it directly to this drug. I am curious if I am alone in this problem.
Thanks

I can't believe I have found this site!!! I have been having horrendous but very petty arguments with my boyfriend just lately, to the point I do not know if we are over as he is only speaking to me in a temper voice. Obviously I believe eveything is his fault(!) and now after reading the site I am wondering if it is all actually me and down to my pill, yasmin, as everything I have read about everyones mood swings rings true! I am almost 3 months in and have been experiencing headaches for the first time in my life and I thought it was just one of those things. My breasts are nearly up a whole size and I have become really really self conscious which I have also never been like before and few of my clothes appear to fit. I have also recently visited the Dr's with dizziness which I actually put down to Jasmin although she said it couldn't possibly be the pill and put it down to a dodgy eardrum which she thinks I have - also I believe I have become increasingly deaf... could that be the pill too or am I now blaming everything that is going wrong in my life on that one tiny little tablet????
I am going to book an appointment with my Dr for tonight but am really conscious that I am going to burst into tears the moment I walk into the surgery - is this the table or because of the rows with my boyfriend? (Like the chicken and egg!)
I have been on Dianette for years and have never experienced any problems - surely it can't be that bad, can it?????

I took the Nuva Ring out about three weeks ago for reasons unrelated to any symptoms. I just happened to find this site today looking at something else. I had no idea that the things that were going on with me could be related to the Nuva Ring until I'm reading these posting today. I've always had migraines so I didn't attribute them to the Nuva Ring - however several months ago (I started using Nuva Ring in March) I had to go to the hospital because I had a severe migraine for over three days and the Imitrex that usually alleviates the pain - sometimes even temporarily did not work at all. Also I had suffered from depression before taking Nuva Ring but over the last several months it had become severe. My moods were out of control. I had anxiety, crying all the time, extreme mood swings. I've had extreme fatigue but just thought it was related to the increase in depression. Last month I went to a psychopharmcologist to have a medication evaluation because I felt the depression meds weren't working anymore. The doctor doubled my dosage! I've had weight gain but just thought I was eating more than usual - no idea the Nuva Ring could have been causing the increase in appetite. I've had night sweats and during the day I'm always freezing no matter where I am. At work I use a sweater and a small blanket for my legs. This is crazy. I just thought my office was too cold (maybe it is). Some bloating but nothing I couldn't live with. I have not had any problems with bleeding or unusual cramping. No vaginal discomfort at all. Sex has been good. No problems with dryness. I found it completely convenient. I just had no idea the problems I was having could be associated to the Nuva Ring. I am so happy I found this site. I was going to start back on tomorrow but I definitely will not.

I have bipolar, and for a year I was willing to attribute my symptoms to that illness. I started the lisinopril when I moved and made a bunch of life changes, so I didn’t connect the onset of the symptoms with the med. Every night, though, I would get sick around 5 or 6 PM (I took lisinopril in the morning): nausea, headache, body aches, extreme lethargy, shortness of breath, fluttering feeling in my chest. These symptoms were so bad that twice I went to the emergency room. (Unfortunately, I presented as a bipolar patient with anxiety, so my treatment was less than comprehensive.) I swapped out all my bipolar meds to rule out drug interactions, but never touched lisinopril because I thought of it as a “safe drug”. My PCP (who prescribed the lisinopril) referred me to a cardiologist who did a battery of tests. I stopped the 30 day heart monitor after 3 weeks because every time I had cardiac symptoms, I checked out fine. The only option left seemed to be that the symptoms were psychosomatic, which scared me because I had no idea how to tackle that. I finally decided to investigate lisinopril and found this site by accident. It was amazing to read all the posts that were similar to my experiences. The day I discontinued the lisinopril in the morning, that night I did not get sick. I waited until I had been well for a week before concluding that the symptoms were indeed side effects of this med. It’s been a couple of months since I discontinued the lisinopril. And I have not been sick once, though I do struggle regularly with the bipolar. (I do monitor my blood pressure regularly: there’s a reason why everyone tells you to do that!) I feel stupid for not suspecting lisinopril earlier (I’m the kind of person who has a PDR and quizzes doctors on pharmacological modes of action) but I just thought that someone would flag it if there could be a problem.
I think those of us with a chronic illness tend to try to make symptoms fit within the framework of our known disease models. I’m writing a book and would welcome input on any aspect of bipolar or about dealing with chronic illness in general.
This site is a blessing. Congratulations on finding it!

I am a 57 yr old female who has been taking lisinopril for about 4 years, after the Zestril became too expensive. I have had the cough and intermittent shortness of breath for several years, but really did not attribute the shortness of breath to the drug until it became quite severe recently. I stopped taking it three days ago, and of course, am concerned that my BP will be out of control. I exercise, eat pretty well, and am about 20 lbs overweight. I also experience abdominal bloat that by evening I look six months pregnant, but no ankle swelling. I hate that. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat, still the bloat. Anyone else bloating? My question, have any of you who stopped taking the drug finally experienced an end to the shortness of breath? I notice I can still exercise moderately, and have the shortness regardless of sitting or exercising. Anyone out there truly get relief for symptoms and how soon after stopping

I've only been on 10 mg of Lisinopril for 30 days and have been experiencing a severe dry cough. To the point I missed work today because I was up all night coughing. I didn't attribute the cough to this drug until reading about it on the net this morning. I have a Dr.'s appt tomorrow and plan on getting off of it. I have very mild high blood pressure. When i went to another site a cough was NOT listed as a side effect. I wish I had dug deeper. Glad I'm not crazy too!

I posted last night about how I was hating Nuvaring. I don't know why I forgot to take it out last night! Anyway, this morning I was actually day 16 on it. I woke up with pain in my ribs and abdomen and a severe headache. Again, I was very exhausted and depressed. I finally took it out. The rest of the day was very hard to get through - extremely depressed and unable to exercise. Later today, both my legs were killing me - felt tight and like it hurt to stand on them. I had been having some leg pain last week, but didn't attribute it to Nuvaring. It was a like a cramp. I also had pain in my left arm that got worse over a few days. I also spent the rest of the day feeling even shorter of breath than I was yesterday. I am glad I read this board and I am glad I took it out. I didn't know what these symptoms were from really - and now I know.

Started taking the Zocor generic Simvistatin just 2 days ago. My legs hurt so bad that I can not sleep. My right knee is swollen to the point I have very limited range of motion and can barely walk up stairs. It is after midnight and I can't sleep. Also having some angina and my little toe on my right foot is somewhat numb. I will be contacting my physician about this tomorrow. My cholesterol was 105 and this doesn't seem to be worth it to me!
